Unlocking the potential of RNN and CNN models for accurate rehabilitation exercise classification on multi-datasets

Physical rehabilitation is crucial in healthcare, facilitating recovery from injuries or illnesses and improving overall health. However, a notable global challenge stems from the shortage of professional physiotherapists, particularly acute in some developing countries, where the ratio can be as low as one physiotherapist per 100,000 individuals. To address these challenges and elevate patient care, the field of physical rehabilitation is progressively integrating computer Vision and Human Activity Recognition (HAR) techniques. Numerous research efforts aim to explore methodologies that assist in rehabilitation exercises and evaluate patient movements, which is crucial as incorrect exercises can potentially worsen conditions. This study investigates applying various deep-learning models for classifying exercises using the benchmark KIMORE and UI-PRMD datasets. Employing Bi-LSTM, LSTM, CNN, and CNN-LSTM, alongside a Random Search for architectural design and Hyper-parameter tuning, our investigation reveals the (CNN) model as the top performer. After applying cross-validation, the technique achieves remarkable mean testing accuracy rates of 93.08% on the KIMORE dataset and 99.7% on the UI-PRMD dataset. This marks a slight improvement of 0.75% and 0.1%, respectively, compared to previous techniques. In addition, expanding beyond exercise classification, this study explores the KIMORE dataset’s utility for disease identification, where the (CNN) model consistently demonstrates an outstanding accuracy of 89.87%, indicating its promising role in both exercises and disease identification within the context of physical rehabilitation. © The Author(s) 2024.

This research aims to 1) apply an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system with cloud computing, 2) implement automated workflow processes (RPA) using UiPath tools within the ERP production cycle, and 3) assess the efficiency of automated workflow processes (RPA) within the ERP production cycle on cloud computing *** results from applying automated workflow processes (RPA with UiPath) within the production cycle of the enterprise resource planning system (ERP with Odoo) hosted on cloud servers (Cloud with Microsoft Azure) indicate that manual processes in the production formula system take 1.05 times longer than automated processes, manual processes in the purchasing system take 1.29 times longer, manual processes in the goods receipt system take 1.22 times longer, and manual processes in the production operations take 1.15 times longer than their automated counterparts ©2024 IEEE.

Bowel preparation is considered a critical step in colonoscopy. Manual bowel preparation assessment is time consuming and prone to human errors and biases. Automatic Bowel evaluation using machine/deep learning is a better and efficient alternative. Most of the relevant literature have focused on achieving high validation accuracy, where private handy-picked dataset does not reflect real-environment situation. Furthermore, treating a video dataset as a collection of individual frames may produce overestimated results. This is due to the fact a video contains nearly identical consecutive frames, hence, dividing them into training and validation sets yields two similar distributed datasets. Given a public dataset, Nerthus, we show empirically a significant drop in performance when a video dataset is treated as a collection of videos (depicting the real environment/context), instead of a collection of individual frames. We propose a model that utilizes both sequence and none-sequence (spatial) information within videos. The proposed model achieved on average 83% validation accuracy across 4 validation sets, whereas, the state-of-the-art models achieved on average a range of 66%–72% validation accuracy. © 2023, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Breast cancer is a frequently diagnosed malignancy in the female population, with a rising trend in its occurrence. A diverse range of breast cancer screening techniques exists, each with unique merits and drawbacks. Numerous researchers have devised automated techniques using deep learning algorithms due to their efficacy and accuracy in forecasting the multiplication of cancer cells via the use of Thermography technologies. Thermography is regarded as a non-invasive and safe technique for the diagnosis of breast cancer. This study provides a thorough examination of the research conducted on the analysis of thermal fluctuations in the breast and the diagnostic approaches used by different researchers in the detection of breast cancer. Our objective is systematic review to conduct a comprehensive examination of the most notable scholarly works concerning the use of deep learning (DL) models and the datasets employed in the categorization of breast cancer. Additionally, we address the challenges and constraints that give rise to the most pressing areas of inquiry for future study in this particular sector. © 2023 IEEE.

In this work, the pre-trained model of the self-attention framework is proposed for single-channel speech separation. Firstly, all layers in the pre-trained self-attention framework are frozen. The model is then retrained through three stages using the scheduling mechanism for learning rates and the layers of the framework are unlocked following the schedule. This way, the model is relearned, enhanced, and updated from previous knowledge. This is an effective way to improve the advanced model performance while significantly reducing the time and cost of a training model. This method is beneficial in applying existing models to perform a similar task or enhancing model performance. In this strategy, the pre-trained system outperforms the non-pre-trained system since the following phases of the model’s training repurpose characteristics extracted through the previously trained early phases. The suggested method is tested and assessed on a conventional dataset. The findings from experiments suggest that the methodology has higher performance than the baseline framework and outperforms current methods for the monaural speech separation task. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Low-Rate Denial of Service (LDoS) attacks, an emerging breed of DoS attacks, present a formidable challenge in terms of their detectability. Within the realm of network security, these attacks cast a substantial shadow over the availability and integrity of services. This study seeks to delve into the intricate mechanics of LDoS attacks and explore the landscape of developed detection methodologies. Employing bibliometric analysis, we employ a multifaceted approach to gather research insights pertaining to LDoS attack detection. This approach encompasses the examination of evolving research trends, scrutiny of widely cited scientific publications within the same domain, identification of prolific researchers shaping the field, and a judicious selection of reputable publishers for dependable information acquisition. Furthermore, our study undertakes a meticulous categorization and classification of previously proposed LDoS detection methods documented in well-established scientific literature. This endeavor not only provides a more profound comprehension of the evolutionary trajectory and thematic thrusts within LDoS attack detection research, but it also facilitates the identification of gaps and directions for future exploration. The culmination of these analytical efforts culminates in a comprehensive framework. This contribution manifests through structured categorization, classification, and a forward-looking research roadmap, which collectively serve as valuable tools for both current and aspiring researchers engaged in LDoS attack detection. In summary, this research not only delves into the complexities of LDoS attacks and their mechanisms but also augments the current understanding of detection capabilities. ICT (information and Communication Technology) plays a strategic role in government institutions. The existence of ICT is considered capable of promoting the realization of good governance. Therefore, Dinkominfo Surabaya implemented a mail management information system called e-Surat. Dinkomifo Surabaya has established a standard operating procedure (SOP) for e-Surat. However, problems such as data loss and mail disposition errors still occurred. Since SOPs were not enough to minimize the occurrence of information security risks, Dinkominfo Surabaya needed to know its capability level of information security risk. This study aimed to help Dinkominfo Surabaya assess the extent to which risk optimization management in e-Surat using COBIT 5 and focusing on the APO12 domain. The results showed that the capability level of the risk management process on the APO12 domain was at level 1 (performed), two levels below the expected level, indicating that the risk management process has been done well, although it has not met the criteria of the practice itself. Recommendations to improve risk management-related processes to achieve the expected level 3 (established) include determining the objectives and limits of the risk management process carried out and providing work products for institution leaders so that the handling of problems related to risk management can involve policymakers. © 2022 IEEE.

Central manager algorithm has a lower average throughput compared to the round robin algorithm. This is evidenced by a significant decrease in throughput values during measurements. Central manager algorithm provides a faster average response time than round robin algorithm, despite experiencing an increase in response time values over time. Central manager algorithm shows a higher request loss rate and many requests are not served. Under normal performance conditions, both algorithms yield the same average request loss rate, achieving stable values without failed requests. The central manager algorithm ensures relatively balanced resource availability, including CPU and memory usage, across each slave web server compared to the round robin algorithm. The results show that increasing the number of clients and client requests during system testing to better observe server resource availability and load distribution performance. For future research, it is recommended to increase the number of clients in the system testing to enhance server load and to introduce client request actions on the web server to further highlight resource availability on each web server. © 2024 IEEE.

This study proposes a novel nature-inspired meta-heuristic optimizer based on the Reptile Search Algorithm combed with Salp Swarm Algorithm for image segmentation using gray-scale multi-level thresholding,called *** proposed method introduces a better search space to find the optimal solution at each ***,we proposed RSA-SSA to avoid the searching problem in the same area and determine the optimal multi-level *** obtained solutions by the proposed method are represented using the image *** proposed RSA-SSA employed Otsu’s variance class function to get the best threshold values at each *** performance measure for the proposed method is valid by detecting fitness function,structural similarity index,peak signal-to-noise ratio,and Friedman ranking *** benchmark images of COVID-19 validate the performance of the proposed *** results showed that the proposed RSA-SSA outperformed other metaheuristics optimization algorithms published in the literature.
