Learning opportunities play an important role in the vision of curriculum favored by the Bologna Process. This paper proposes an ontology intended for representing learning opportunities. The ontology is designed in accordance with European standardized models addressing metadata sufficient for representing learning opportunities. Since the models are proposed as Dublin Core application profiles, the ontology has been implemented following a set of guidelines for expressing Dublin Core application profiles using OWL. Proposed ontology facilitates the introduction of Semantic Web technologies in the field of curriculum management, and will bi a start-point for the implementation of a Semantic Web application aimed at curriculum management.

The paper describes the design goals and methodology in creating a new model of optical telecommunication network. The model is implemented by discrete-event network simulator ns-3. The advantages of using the existing simulator core infrastructure provided by ns-3 are analyzed and compared to building own simulator from scratch, or selecting a tool among other existing simulators such as ns-2, OMNeT++, and OPNET. The requirements for feature functionality are outlined and high-level overview of the model architecture and its components are provided. Finally, the possibilities for extending the model in future research and development work are described.

Complex systems and dynamics are present in many parts of daily life and branches of science. This participation is continuation of our previous research, that introduced a novelty method of visualization and possible control of complex networks, that are used to visualize dynamics of evolutionary algorithms. Selected evolutionary algorithms are used as an example in order to show how its behavior can be understood as complex network and controlled via conversion into CML system - a model based on mutually joined nonlinear n equations. The main aim of this investigation was to show that dynamics of evolutionary algorithms can be converted to CML system and then controlled. Selected results of evolutionary controlled CML system are discussed here.

The hybrid learning environment that uses traditional lectures and examinations in conjunction with online learning resources and online assessment tools provides numerous data on students' activities and assessment scores which could be used for constructing a final exam result prediction model. In this paper the data on activities and assessments supported by information and communication technology (ICT) of 302 students enrolled in the first year Physics course of a biomedical university study program have been used to establish the correlations between scores on written midterm exams, scores on webbased formative assessment during seminar teaching, scores on web-based formative assessment during laboratory teaching, scores and time used for online self-assessment test, number of Moodle logins, number of approaches to specific Moodle resources and final exam result. As prediction methods the Principal Component Regression (PCR) and Partial Least Square regression (PLS) have been used, especially due to assumed multi-colinearity of predictive variables and dimension reduction requirement. The model could be useful for students and for teachers who would have the possibility to react and remedy the predicted final exam result if necessary.

Implementing ERP systems is a high risk activity for every company. All implementations give rise to many open questions concerning the two primary issues of data and process. This paper focuses on the issue of data and investigates how to automate some key implementation activities. Authors propose a solution for identified problems in the form of a web application for data management. Although the authors' primary focus is in the academic perspective of ERP system implementation our results are also usable in industry, to automate key database settings implementation activities, which makes the scientific contribution of this article more valuable.
