High PV systems integration faces distribution networks (DN) with technical issues. However, PVs are inverter- based sources and with active power curtailment (APC) and reactive power control (RPC) can provide ancillary services for distribution system operators (DSOs) and participate as problem/solution principle. This paper proposes an optimal power flow (OPF)-based model for improving voltages and reducing losses by using PV inverter APC and RPC strategies. The proposed optimization model is presented as nonlinear programming (NLP). For solving this optimization problem without approximations, a co-simulation of OpenDSS power system analysis software and PyGMO package with embedded computational intelligence (CI) optimization methods is used. Several case studies are carried out over the IEEE European low-voltage test feeder (LVTF). Regardless of which strategy is applied, the obtained results show that the proposed model improves technical conditions in PV-rich DN and illustrate PV potential in providing ancillary services to DSO. © 2024 IEEE.

Speech is a fundamental means of human interaction. Speaker Identification (SI) plays a crucial role in various applications, such as authentication systems, forensic investigation, and personal voice assistance. However, achieving robust and secure SI in both open and closed environments remains challenging. To address this issue, researchers have explored new techniques that enable computers to better understand and interact with humans. Smart systems leverage Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) to mimic the human brain in identifying speakers. However, speech signals often suffer from interference, leading to signal degradation. The performance of a Speaker Identification System (SIS) is influenced by various environmental factors, such as noise and reverberation in open and closed environments, respectively. This research paper is concerned with the investigation of SI using Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) and polynomial coefficients, with an ANN serving as the classifier. To tackle the challenges posed by environmental interference, we propose a novel approach that depends on symmetric comb filters for modeling. In closed environments, we study the effect of reverberation on speech signals, as it occurs due to multiple reflections. To address this issue, we model the reverberation effect with comb filters. We explore different domains, including time, Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), and Discrete Sine Transform (DST) domains for feature extraction to determine the best combination for SI in case of reverberation environments. Simulation results reveal that DWT outperforms other transforms, leading to a recognition rate of 93.75% at a Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of 15 dB. Additionally, we investigate the concept of cancelable SI to ensure user privacy, while maintaining high recognition rates. Particles in the atmosphere, such as dust and smoke, can cause visual clarity problems in both images and videos. Haze is the result of the interaction between airborne particles and light, which is scattered and attenuated. Hazy media present difficulties in a variety of applications due to the reduced contrast and loss of essential information. In response, dehazing techniques have been introduced to bring hazy videos and images back to clarity. Here, we provide a novel technique for eliminating haze. It comprises preprocessing steps before dehazing. Preprocessing is applied to hazy images through homomorphic processing and Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE). We present a dehazing technique referred to as the pre-trained Feature Fusion Attention Network (FFA-Net) that directly lets dehazed images be restored from hazy or preprocessed hazy inputs without requiring the determination of atmospheric factors, such as air light and transmission maps. The FFA-Net architecture incorporates a Feature Attention (FA) method to do this task. We assess the proposed technique in a variety of circumstances, including visible frames, Near-Infrared (NIR) frames, and real-world hazy images. Evaluation criteria like entropy, correlation, and Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) are used to compare the quality of dehazed frames or images to their hazy counterparts. Furthermore, histogram analysis and spectral entropy are adopted to determine the effectiveness of the proposed technique in comparison to existing dehazing techniques. Comparative results are presented for both real-world and simulated environments. The benefits of the proposed technique are demonstrated by a comparison of the results obtained from the standalone pre-trained FFA-Net and the proposed comprehensive methodology. The detrimental effects of atmospheric haze frequently plague outdoor imagery. This phenomenon arises from the scattering of light by minute particles within the ambient environment surrounding the scene to be imaged. Haze engenders an overall whitening of the image, leading to diminished contrast. To address these issues and enhance the quality of hazy images and videos, an enhanced dehazing technique is proposed. The proposed technique includes image enhancement before the optimal dehazing process. The enhancement stage entails the implementation of both homomorphic processing and Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE), serving to control the image dynamic range, while concurrently heightening the image contrast. The culminating stage encompasses an optimized dehazing technique, adept at expunging haze-induced artifacts from images. The homomorphic processing and CLAHE, applied in the pre-processing step, establish a foundation for the subsequent dehazing procedure. This proposed methodology is systematically applied to a gamut of visual outputs, including visible videos, Near-Infrared (NIR) frames, and authentic hazy images. Comparative evaluations of the proposed technique, homomorphic-processing-based enhanced dehazing, and standalone dehazing techniques is undertaken on different video types encompassing five frames. It is evident that the proposed technique, synergizing the homomorphic processing, CLAHE, and dehazing, outperforms alternative strategies. Furthermore, the proposed technique is subjected to a comparative study with various existing dehazing techniques over real hazy images. The assessment depends on Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), correlation, and entropy metrics. The results underscore the efficacy of the proposed technique, particularly in terms of spectral entropy enhancement of dehazed frames. For both visible and NIR frames, the percentages of enhancement by the proposed technique are 17.66% and 118.48%, respectively. ©

This paper presents a high gain, compact size and dual band rectangular patch antenna for 5G applications. To enhance the gain of antenna, an equilateral triangle slots on the upper rectangular patch are constructed. The broadband antenna is operating at 27.4 GHz to 35.5 GHz and 38GHz to 41.8GHz having fractional bandwidth of 25.7% and 9% respectively. The maximum gain of 8.19 dBi is observed at 28 GHz and the antenna has radiation efficiency greater than 90% over the entire band. Moreover, the Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) is lower than 2 dB at operational bands. © 2023 IEEE.

A Review of Deep Convolutional Neural Networks in Mobile Face Recognition

With the emergence of deep learning, Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models have been proposed to advance the progress of various applications, including face recognition, object detection, pattern recognition, and number plate recognition. The utilization of CNNs in these areas has considerably improved security and surveillance capabilities by providing automated recognition solutions, such as traffic surveillance, access control devices, biometric security systems, and attendance systems. However, there is still room for improvement in this field. This paper discusses several classic CNN models, such as LeNet-5, AlexNet, VGGNet, GoogLeNet, and ResNet, as well as lightweight models for mobile-based applications, such as MobileNet, ShuffleNet, and EfficientNet. Additionally, deep CNN-based face recognition models, such as DeepFace, DeepID, FaceNet, and SphereFace, are explored, along with their architectural characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, and recognition accuracy. The results indicate that many scholars are researching lightweight face recognition, but applying it to mobile devices is impractical due to high computational costs. Furthermore, noise label learning is not robust in actual scenarios, and unlabeled face learning is expensive in manual labeling. Finally, this paper concludes with a discussion of the current problems faced by face recognition technology and its potential future directions for development. © 2023 by the authors of this article. Visible light communication(VLC)has a paramount role in industrial implementations,especially for better energy efficiency,high speed-data rates,and low susceptibility to ***,since studies on VLC for industrial implementations are in scarcity,areas concerning illumination optimisation and communication performances demand further *** such,this paper presents a new modelling of light fixture distribution for a warehouse model to provide acceptable illumination and communication *** proposed model was evaluated based on various semi-angles at half power(SAAHP)and different height levels for several parameters,including received power,signal to noise ratio(SNR),and bit error rate(BER).The results revealed improvement in terms of received power and SNR with 30 Mbps data *** modulations were studied to improve the link quality,whereby better average BER values of 5.55×10^(−15) and 1.06×10^(−10) had been achieved with 4 PAM and 8 PPM,*** simulation outcomes are indeed viable for the practical warehouse model.

This paper focuses on the challenges of modeling and verifying symmetric distributed algorithms with point-to-point and bidirectional communications using the SPIN model checker. In this paper, we first state the problems of implementing the model of such algorithms in the Promela language. Then, we present a solution for each of these problems, where these solutions present a hybrid data structure that facilitates the definition of any set of variables or channels as a matrix. Also, we model and verify one of the valuable and practical algorithms called the causal broadcast (CB) algorithm as a case study using the proposed method. In addition, we specify the main properties of the CB algorithm, namely validity, integrity, causal delivery, and termination, in Linear Temporal Logic (LTL) and then verify them using the SPIN model checker. © 2024 IEEE.

Object Constraint Language(OCL)is one kind of lightweight formal specification,which is widely used for software verification and validation in NASA and Object Management Group *** OCL provides a simple expressive syntax,it is hard for the developers to write correctly due to lacking knowledge of the mathematical foundations of the first-order logic,which is approximately half accurate at the first stage of devel-opment.A deep neural network named DeepOCL is proposed,which takes the unre-stricted natural language as inputs and automatically outputs the best-scored OCL candidates without requiring a domain conceptual model that is compulsively required in existing rule-based generation *** demonstrate the validity of our proposed approach,ablation experiments were conducted on a new sentence-aligned dataset named *** experiments show that the proposed DeepOCL can achieve state of the art for OCL statement generation,scored 74.30 on BLEU,and greatly outperformed experienced developers by 35.19%.The proposed approach is the first deep learning approach to generate the OCL expression from the natural *** can be further developed as a CASE tool for the software industry.
