In this paper, the problem was the realization of a SCADA system (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and an automation system for the system of the wastewater treatment plant in Cantemir, Moldova. The use of innovative treatment methods based on revolutionary industrial principles, such as Imhoff, reduces maintenance costs, increases energy efficiency and contributes to improving the quality of the water that is fed by the people who live in this city. Following the implementation of the SCADA automated system, water remains free of microorganisms, parasites or substances that, by number or concentration, constitute a potential danger to human health, and energy efficiency in an automation system is an important point that is analyzed and implemented in each electromechanical system separately, to reduce system maintenance costs and increase flexibility. © 2023 IEEE.

Large information datasets often impose an immense number of features where many are found redundant and thus inessential for statistical analysis. In the past, a data preprocessing phase was formalized to cope with the problem and take appropriate remedial measures. Traditionally, this was a fixed and stationary process that suffered from a lack of transparency and high susceptibility to input variations. This paper presents a novel and fully automated meta-heuristic nature-inspired wrapper-based feature selection framework DynFS with dynamically cutting search space. The experiments show that the DynFS statistically significantly overcomes a fixed feature selection framework and allows for a high level of robustness and stability. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

A prominent problem in planar resonant wire-less power transfer (WPT) systems is instability of efficiency and load power due to position misalignment of the receiver (RX) coil relative to postion of the transmitter (TX) coil. In order to keep stable efficiency and load power even in such misaligned condition it is necessary to design transmitter coil which generates homogeneous magnetic field in charging plane. In this paper, a geometry of planar transmitter coil which consist of multiple concentric circles is optimized by utilizing genetic algorithm. optimization goal is achieving as large as possible homogeneous region, i.e. portion of charging plane which is characterized by homogeneous magnetic field. Magnetic field evaluations are done by FEMM software. Proposed coil achieves continuous homogeneous region at 44.4% surface of charging plane. optimized coil and its homogenous region is compared to the state-of-the-art. © 2023 MIPRO Croatian Society.

The increasing demand for plant cultivation in grow boxes using artificial light necessitates ensuring adequate lighting conditions to support plant growth and maturation. This paper presents a case study that focuses on optimizing the selection of LED light sources by examining the conversion between light technical, radiant, and photosynthetic units. This conversion process translates the photosynthetic requirements for plant growth into the necessary radiant and light technical requirements. By understanding these conversions, we can optimize the choice of LED light sources based on the relationship between electrical power input and photosynthetic photon flux (PPF) output. The ratio between luminous flux and PPF can then be employed for designing and sizing the grow box lighting system. This approach enables the use of standard lighting software to design the grow box lighting system. The study's outcome is a light-technical model that includes defined values for photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) at various distances (calculation horizontal planes) from the lighting system and power consumption data. Moreover, the energy balance of the lighting system is considered, accounting for heat losses due to the efficiency of the LED source in converting electrical power to radiant flux and the efficiency of the luminaires. This comprehensive analysis allows for the informed selection and implementation of LED light sources, ultimately contributing to more efficient and effective grow box systems. © 2023 IEEE.

A directly-fed pattern reconfigurable patch antenna without extra feeding networks is presented in this paper with a straightforward design method and the discussion on its array performance. TM01 and TM02 modes of a rectangular patch are employed to realize pattern reconfigurability. Four shorting pins underneath the patch and two high-impedance open-ended stubs loaded on the radiating edges are adopted for the frequency overlap of the two working modes. Additional center-carved slots or center-loaded stubs are proposed as a simple impedance-matching mechanism without feeding networks. The working principle is investigated by a transmission-line circuit model. Simulation results show that at 2.45 GHz, the radiation pattern of the proposed antenna can be switched between a single beam and dual beams with maximum realized gains of 9.6 dBi and 5.6 dBi, respectively. Moreover, a 1×4 array is designed using the proposed antenna to demonstrate its array performance. © 2023 IEEE.

Battery system is a simple and widely used electrical energy storage system for industry, UPS, intelligent applications, vehicles, electrical appliances and others. It can drive the integration of the vehicle and the power grid. In high power applications, the battery is joint in series to enhance the potential and joint in parallel to increase the current, but because of the processing conditions of the battery and the imbalance between each cell, the total power is reduced. One of the most common balancing methods used today is passive balancing, which is based on the principle that a power resistor incorporated in series discharges the excess when one of the cells reaches the voltage or charge threshold so that the other cells can be charged. The present project intends to propose a solar power to balance the battery of an electric vehicle. There are three approaches of process: the first is solar balancing, which uses solar energy to charge the accumulator according to the lowest state of charge (SOC) while driving, the second refers to the energy stored in the memory cell which is delivered via the DC-DC converter to the accumulator cell with the lowest SOC, and the third is charging according to the altitude SOC when the vehicle is charging from an outlet and is parked. For the simulation, it has been used a battery pack with four 13.8 V Etch One, batteries connected in series. Conformable to the results of simulation, the proposed method can economize 1.465% to 1.904% of a 50 Ah battery pack total capacity every 13.2 km. The accumulator pack can be balanced when the solar current is about 6-7 A. The balancing remains very successful even if the solar current is reduced to 2-3 A or if the cell storage mode is used with the identical current limitation. © 2023 IEEE.

Position control with PLC represents one of the high complexity software applications in the field of industrial automation. In this paper the authors present an automation design of two-axis control using Sinamics S210 and S7-1511T PLC which are useful for electrical engineering master's students. To provide an experience closer to real world applications and one that should allow the study of PLC programming, the PROFINET industrial communication protocol, design screens for Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and positioning applications, the students can use the proposed solution in the faculty laboratories. They can start with the development of elementary complexity software applications, all the way to high complexity applications. © 2023 IEEE.

The minimum amount of perception that humans can perceive is called the stimulus threshold. This study aims to clarify the stimulus threshold of weight perception for the biceps brachii muscle based on a method of constant stimuli. In general, the stimulus threshold depends on the individual. The authors consider that physical characteristics are related to individual differences, construct a model of the relationship between physical characteristics and stimulus thresholds, and attempt to estimate stimulus thresholds from physical characteristics. The constructed model is evaluated via cross-validation and found to be able to estimate stimulus thresholds from physical characteristics with an 85% accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Cause-effect graphs are a commonly used black-box testing method, and many different algorithms for converting system requirements to cause-effect graph specifications and deriving test case suites have been proposed. However, in order to test the efficiency of black-box testing algorithms on a variety of cause-effect graphs containing different numbers of nodes, logical relations and dependency constraints, a dataset containing a collection of cause-effect graph specifications created by authors of existing papers is necessary. This paper presents CEGSet, the first collection of existing cause-effect graph specifications. The dataset contains a total of 65 graphs collected from the available relevant literature. The specifications were created by using the ETF-RI-CEG graphical software tool and can be used by future authors of papers focusing on the cause-effect graphing technique. The collected graphs can be re-imported in the tool and used for the desired purposes. The collection also includes the specification of system requirements in the form of natural language from which the cause-effect graphs were derived where possible. This will encourage future work on automatizing the process of converting system requirements to cause-effect graph specifications. © 2023 IEEE.

Position control with PLC represents one of the high complexity software applications. In this paper, the authors present a 4-axis control automation application (synchronized two by two in a master-slave relationship) using Sinamics S210 servo drives and S7-1511T PLC. The PLC controls the position of one master and the speed of the other. The application which we present is useful for master's students in the field of electrical engineering. To access an experience closer to real world applications, i.e. the study of PLC programming, PROFINET industrial communication protocol, design screens for Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and positioning applications, the students can use the proposed solution in the faculty laboratories. Therefore they can go from the development of low complexity software applications, all the way to high complexity applications. © 2023 IEEE.
