Naproxen (Nap), a widely used nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), effectively reduces inflammation, pain, and fever by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (i.e., COX-1 and COX-2). However, its therapeutic use is often limited by significant adverse effects, including gastrointestinal hemorrhage, nephrotoxicity, hepatotoxicity, hematuria, and aphthous ulcers. In this study, we aimed to enhance both the efficacy and safety profile of Nap by making targeted structural modifications to the parent drug. Specifically, selected functional groups (i.e., CH_3, OCH₃, CF₃, OCF₃, NH₂, CH₂NH₂, NHCONH₂ and NHCOCH₃) were introduced into the naphthalene nucleus. The geometry of the modified compounds was optimized via DFT with the B3LYP functional and 6-31+G (d, p) basis set, facilitating physicochemical and spectral analysis. Molecular docking studies were conducted against the human Prostaglandin G/H synthase 2 (5F19) and Mus musculus Prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2 (3NT1), and these candidates were subjected to MD simulation. ADMET and PASS analyses were performed to evaluate the medicinal efficacy and toxicological profiles of the derivatives. Our findings identified several promising candidates with enhanced therapeutic benefits and reduced toxicity compared with the parent Nap. Docking analysis revealed that analogs exhibited stronger binding affinities compared to Nap and selectivity towards COX-2. These candidates demonstrated stability over a 100 ns MD simulation, exhibiting significant hydrogen bonding. Compared with the parent drug, most of these analogs displayed reduced hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, carcinogenicity, and gastrointestinal hemorrhage activity, as supported by pharmacokinetic calculations. This study demonstrated that improved chemical and medicinal properties lead to a reduction in side effects. © 2025 The Authors

This study presents a comprehensive study on smart home automation systems utilizing Internet of Things (IoT) sensor technology to achieve efficient energy conservation. The proposed system integrates ZigBee and WiFi communication protocols for effective and reliable connectivity across various smart devices within a home. Through the deployment of interconnected sensors and intelligent controllers, the system allows real-time monitoring and management of household energy usage, optimizing energy consumption and reducing waste. The combination of ZigBee for low-power, long-range sensor networks and WiFi for high-speed data transmission enables seamless interaction between smart appliances, lighting, heating, and cooling systems. Proposesd approach offers a scalable, cost-effective solution for enhancing home automation with an emphasis on energy conservation and sustainability. Also discussed the implementation, challenges, and future potential of IoT-based smart home systems for improved energy efficiency.

A combination of two shared input splitting capacitor banks and varying number of individualized inverter-leg flying-capacitors characterized topological feature of a large group of 5L ANPC inverters configurations. The inconveniences in the provision of these per phase flying-capacitors make these configurations less attractive in most applications. The 5L E-type inverter, characterized by four shared input capacitor banks, becomes a viable alternative topology. However, the high blocking-voltage rating of the constituent switches still places restrictions on the use of the 5L E-type inverter within this voltage range. In view of this, this paper presents a reconfiguration of the 5L E-type inverter. To lessen the voltage stress on the switching devices used here, the common node of the E-type inverter’s bidirectional switch is investigated. Inverter costs and losses are influenced by the decreased voltage stress. The carrier-overlapped pulse-width modulation, or COPWM, perspective serves as the foundation for the inverter control technique. Simulated results of the inverter performances are presented together with an analysis of the cost competitiveness of the proposed inverter power circuit. A 17.68% reduction in loss dissipation and a 13.61% cost savings were recorded by using the proposed power circuit. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Providing the operator with a good view of the remote site is of paramount importance in aerial telemanipulation. In light of that, this paper proposes the application of a hierarchical control framework in order to tackle the problem of adjusting the field of view of an on-board camera as a secondary task. The proposed approach ensures that the flying base, and consequently the camera, can be steered in order to provide a distant operator with a desired field of view without disturbing the end-effector pose. The approach is focused on aerial manipulators with torque-controlled arms, like the DLR Suspended Aerial Manipulator (SAM), while allowing the base to be directly torque-controlled or, alternatively, through an inner-loop velocity controller. Quantitative, qualitative, and real-scenario experimental validation is carried out using the SAM and confirms the need for such an approach and its efficacy in achieving decoupled field-of-view control. © 2021 IEEE.

Implicit neural representations (INRs) have gained prominence as a powerful paradigm in scene reconstruction and computer graphics, demonstrating remarkable results. By utilizing neural networks to parameterize data through implicit continuous functions, INRs offer several benefits. Recognizing the potential of INRs beyond these domains, this survey aims to provide a comprehensive overview of INR models in the field of medical imaging. In medical settings, numerous challenging and ill-posed problems exist, making INRs an attractive solution. The survey explores the application of INRs in various medical imaging tasks, such as image reconstruction, segmentation, registration, novel view synthesis, and compression. It discusses the advantages and limitations of INRs, highlighting their resolution-agnostic nature, memory efficiency, ability to avoid locality biases, and differentiability, enabling adaptation to different tasks. Furthermore, the survey addresses the challenges and considerations specific to medical imaging data, such as data availability, computational complexity, and dynamic clinical scene analysis. It also identifies future research directions and opportunities, including integration with multimodal imaging, real-time and interactive systems, and domain adaptation for clinical decision support. To facilitate further exploration and implementation of INRs in medical image analysis, we have provided a compilation of cited studies along with their available open-source implementations on GitHub. The recently proposed orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) modulation, which is a typical Delay-Doppler (DD) communication scheme, has attracted significant attention thanks to its appealing performance over doublyselective channels. In this paper, we present the fundamentals of general DD communications from the viewpoint of the Zak transform. We start our study by constructing DD domain basis functions aligning with the time-frequency (TF)- consistency condition, which are globally quasi-periodic and locally twisted-shifted. We unveil that these features are translated to unique signal structures in both time and frequency, which are beneficial for communication purposes. Then, we focus on the practical implementations of DD Nyquist communications, where we show that rectangular windows achieve perfect DD orthogonality, while truncated periodic signals can obtain sufficient DD orthogonality. Particularly, smoothed rectangular window with excess bandwidth can result in a slightly worse orthogonality but better pulse localization in the DD domain. Furthermore, we present a practical pulse shaping framework for general DD communications and derive the corresponding input-output relation under various shaping pulses. Our numerical results agree with our derivations and also demonstrate advantages of DD communications over conventional orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM). © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

In the context of detecting dangerous illnesses of the patient affected by skin lesions, this study is focused on the problem of improving the classification of melanoma vs. normal nevus considering neural network and new proposed features based on high and low pixels intensity, and densities of the pattern detected with hit-or-miss (HoM) morphological transform. A large set of features from color spaces such as RGB (red, green, and blue), HSV (hue, saturation, and value) and L*a*b* (lightness variable L*, chromaticity indices a* and b*) were initially extracted and grouped in two parts: the first group includes first and second order features, and the second group contains hybrid features (a mix of first order, second order features and proposed features). The dimensionality of the features from these two groups is considerably reduced with principal component analysis (PCA) statistical method and fed three different types of neural network (NN): Radial Basis Function Neural Network (RBFNN), Cascade-Forward Neural Network (CFNN) and Pattern Recognition Neural Network (PRNN). From this corroboration of hybrid features, color space and NN, the L*a*b* color space with CFNN provided accuracy (ACC) of 0.897, F1-score of 0.91 and area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 0.896, respectively.

This paper considers the distributed information bottleneck (D-IB) problem for a primitive Gaussian diamond channel with two relays and Rayleigh fading. Due to the bottleneck constraint, it is impossible for the relays to inform the destination node of the perfect channel state information (CSI) in each realization. To evaluate the bottleneck rate, we provide an upper bound by assuming that the destination node knows the CSI and the relays can cooperate with each other, and also three achievable schemes with simple symbol-by-symbol relay processing and compression. Numerical results show that the lower bounds obtained by the proposed achievable schemes can come close to the upper bound on a wide range of relevant system parameters.

La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 (LSMn) was prepared as sensing electrodes (SEs) of mixed-potential type NO2 sensors and the effects of porous micromorphology on sensing performance were studied. The results show that the grain size of La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 and the pore size of the SE were regulated by sintering time. Meanwhile, the sensitivity of sensors increases then goes down with the increasement of pore size and the selectivity is also optimized via the sintering time. Finally, a NO2 sensor with the SE sintered at 1100°C for 2 hours shows commercially viable performance at 550°C. These results indicate that the regulation of porous LSMn SE by sintering time is expected to be applied in the mixed-potential type NO2 sensor which is the candidate for the monitoring of high-temperature exhaust. © 2022, The Authors. The system delves into the important topic of agricultural market pricing, with a specific emphasis on the ever-changing realm of vegetable supply and prices. Stabilizing the supply and prices of vegetables becomes an enormous task when consider that the system are grown outdoors and that weather variables significantly impact harvests. Such unpredictability has far-reaching consequences for the country's economy, highlighting the critical need to develop efficient methods of precise forecasting. The government has made multiple attempts to stabilize vegetable prices and supplies, but these have all been unsuccessful due to the unpredictable weather patterns of late. This system uses state-of-the-art deep learning methods, notably the Hybrid CLA-Conv BiGRU model, which incorporates a novel preprocessing strategy based on the HP Filter, to conquer this obstacle. A strong prediction model for vegetable prices is constructed using the process, which includes feature extraction, scoring, and selection.
