Grid-tied solar photovoltaic (PV) systems are becoming increasingly prevalent as a result of recent advancements and the popularity of solar photovoltaic panels. The control strategy used has a significant impact on these systems’ dependability and performance. In order to link PV systems to medium-voltage grids, this paper presents a seventh harmonic injected single carrier pulse width modulation (SHISCPWM) technique for a cascaded H-bridge (CHB) inverter. In contrast to the stablished phase disposition PWM (PDPWM) method, the suggested SHISCPWM generates gate pulses in the CHB by utilizing only a single carrier and a seventh harmonic saturated signal. On digital signal processor (DSP)/ field programmable gate array (FPGA) platforms, this innovative SHISCPWM technique eases implementation and lessens computational load. However, the goal of the proposed SHISCPWM is to guarantee the thermal stability of junction temperature of the power semiconductor devices. Again, the SHISCPWM seeks to minimize the total harmonic distortion (THD) of CHB inverter, which will result in lower semiconductor power losses and higher efficiency. In addition to optimizing DC bus consumption, the proposed SHISCPWM reduces switching and conduction losses.

Identifying methods to further push the boundaries of existing low-power designs has gained new traction, driven by the wide-scale use of large language models. Graphene is well-suited for ultra-low-power nano-electronics due to its exceptional characteristics like ballistic transport, flexibility, and bio-compatibility. In this paper we investigate the feasibility of using ultra-low-voltage GNR structures, in conjunction with power reduction techniques to implement a GNR-based current-starved ring oscillator. By exploiting their low operating voltage and attofarad range intrinsic capacitances we achieve a 1.89 x higher output frequency while simultaneously reducing the power consumption by 553.8 x and achieving a 812 x higher power efficiency.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the most notable digital developments in recent years. As the Smart Revolution advances beyond its conceptual stage, the furniture sector emerges inside the IoT market. This paper proposes the transformation of ordinary furniture into an IoT system realized using the ESP32 microcontroller. Furthermore, the furniture is enriched with the ability to be controllable via the Android application over Bluetooth technology. Given the rise of devices and things enriched by IoT technologies, the application to manage these devices should be of such an architecture that it can be easily modified. This paper emphasizes the importance of application development following clean architecture principles that makes the application robust, easily upgradeable with new features, maintainable, and effortlessly testable. Such an approach would significantly reduce future efforts to control IoT devices using a mobile application.

Fuzzy C-means(FCM)is a clustering method that falls under unsupervised machine *** main issues plaguing this clustering algorithm are the number of the unknown clusters within a particular dataset and initialization sensitivity of cluster *** Bee Colony(ABC)is a type of swarm algorithm that strives to improve the members’solution quality as an iterative process with the utilization of particular kinds of ***,ABC has some weaknesses,such as balancing exploration and *** improve the exploration process within the ABC algorithm,the mean artificial bee colony(MeanABC)by its modified search equation that depends on solutions of mean previous and global best is ***,to solve the main issues of FCM,Automatic clustering algorithm was proposed based on the mean artificial bee colony called(AC-MeanABC).It uses the MeanABC capability of balancing between exploration and exploitation and its capacity to explore the positive and negative directions in search space to find the best value of clusters number and centroids value.A few benchmark datasets and a set of natural images were used to evaluate the effectiveness of *** experimental findings are encouraging and indicate considerable improvements compared to other state-of-the-art approaches in the same domain.

This paper proposes an optimum placement of the electromagnetic capability (EMC) capacitors for the wide band-gap (WBG) devices (SiC). To minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI), the solution of using EMC capacitors near the power module is proposed. Two different EMC capacitor placement scenarios are examined to show how the displacement current is affected. The suggested method reduces the capacitive displacement current during the high slew rate of the drain-source voltage (dv/dt), which then helps to minimize the size and overall cost of the common mode choke (CMC). The proposed methods are simple to construct and easy to implement with a faster switching response. The proposed method is experimentally implemented for a half-bridge SiC power module with the heat sink.

This preliminary study explores developing and implementing upper-limb rehabilitation tools utilizing haptic feedback and 3D spatial recognition analysis in a virtual reality (VR) environment. The effectiveness of upper limb rehabilitation in post-stroke patients was investigated by analyzing the joint and gimbal range of motion (ROM), ROM ratios, and force distribution through various drawing tasks. This study evaluated the impact of different drawing patterns on joint and gimbal ROM, and the force applied during rehabilitation exercises. This study revealed significant variability in ROM across different tasks by combining ROM measurements with force data and employing heat maps for visual representation. These findings emphasize the need for task-specific adjustments to improve rehabilitation outcomes. This study highlights the potential of incorporating advanced technologies, such as VR-based tools with haptic feedback and 3D spatial recognition, to enhance patient engagement and rehabilitation effectiveness.

Differential passivity of a nonlinear system has been introduced as passivity of its variational system. Applying standard passivity-based control techniques to differentially passive systems leads to controllers for the corresponding variational systems. However, it is challenging to construct controllers for the original nonlinear systems if the differential passive outputs are non-exact differential one-forms. In this letter, our objective is to provide a systematic procedure to address this issue when differential passive outputs are integrable, i.e., when non-exact differential passive outputs can be made exact by multiplying them by suitable integrating factors. In particular, under suitable detectability assumptions, we propose one static and two dynamic state feedback stabilizing controllers, where each dynamic controller has a form of input-and output-shaping, respectively. We illustrate their effectiveness by stabilization of counter-current heat exchangers.

High-Fidelity Document Stain Removal via A Large-Scale Real-World Dataset and A Memory-Augmented Transformer

Document images are often degraded by various stains, significantly impacting their readability and hindering downstream applications such as document digitization and analysis. The absence of a comprehensive stained document dataset has limited the effectiveness of existing document enhancement methods in removing stains while preserving fine-grained details. To address this challenge, we construct StainDoc, the first large-scale, high-resolution (2145 × 2245) dataset specifically designed for document stain removal. StainDoc comprises over 5,000 pairs of stained and clean document images across multiple scenes. This dataset encompasses a diverse range of stain types, severities, and document backgrounds, facilitating robust training and evaluation of document stain removal algorithms. Furthermore, we propose StainRestorer, a Transformer-based document stain removal approach. StainRestorer employs a memory-augmented Transformer architecture that captures hierarchical stain representations at part, instance, and semantic levels via the DocMemory module. The Stain Removal Transformer (SRTransformer) leverages these feature representations through a dual attention mechanism: an enhanced spatial attention with an expanded receptive field, and a channel attention captures channel-wise feature importance. This combination enables precise stain removal while preserving document content integrity. Extensive experiments demonstrate StainRestorer’s superior performance over state-of-the-art methods on the StainDoc dataset and its variants StainDoc Mark and StainDoc Seal, establishing a new benchmark for document stain removal. Our work highlights the potential of memory-augmented Transformers for this task and contributes a valuable dataset to advance future research. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Attention mechanisms have revolutionized natural language processing. Combining them with quantum computing aims to further advance this technology. This paper introduces a novel Quantum Mixed-State Self-Attention Network (QMSAN) for natural language processing tasks. Our model leverages quantum computing principles to enhance the effectiveness of self-attention mechanisms. QMSAN uses a quantum attention mechanism based on mixed state, allowing for direct similarity estimation between queries and keys in the quantum domain. This approach leads to more effective attention coefficient calculations. We also propose an innovative quantum positional encoding scheme, implemented through fixed quantum gates within the circuit, improving the model’s ability to capture sequence information without additional qubit resources. In numerical experiments of text classification tasks on public datasets, QMSAN outperforms Quantum Self-Attention Neural Network (QSANN). Furthermore, we demonstrate QMSAN’s robustness in different quantum noise environments, highlighting its potential for near-term quantum devices. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
