Current approaches for spatiotemporal action recognition have achieved impressive progress, especially in temporal information processing. Meanwhile, the power of spatial information may be underestimated. Thus, a non-uniform key frame selector is proposed to pick the most representative frames according to the relationship between frames along the temporal dimension. Specifically, the reweight high-level frame features are used to generate an importance score sequence, while the key frames, in each temporal section, are selected based on the above scores. Such selected frames have richer semantic information, which has positive impact on the network training. The proposed model is evaluated on two action recognition, namely datasets HMDB51 and UCF101, and promising accuracy improvement is achieved. © 2023 ACM.

The network on chip(NoC) makes use of sharing segmented network structure, data transmission link is no longer unique. Compared with bus communication, NoC makes a good trade-off between design cost and connection complexity, and can achieves better scalability. A NoC mainly includes interconnect topology, a lot of cores, routers, and data communication between these cores. The topology architecture of NoC has an important effect on its performance. A new method is proposed in this paper to minimize network delay for topology architecture design of NoC, the method employs cellular genetic algorithm for the placement design of cores and routers, such that the communication bandwidth requirement is satisfied and the delay of NoC is minimal. The computational efficiency of cellular genetic algorithm is enhanced by choosing one of the five neighborhood topologies at random in the selection and crossover operations, and using two selection modes for the selection of individuals. The experimental results show that the NoC topology architecture with lower network delay can be obtained by using the method in this paper, the delay of NoC is reduced, and the total time required by this method is shorter compared with the traditional genetic algorithm. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. The EM Algorithm is Adaptively-Optimal for Unbalanced Symmetric Gaussian Mixtures

This paper studies the problem of estimating the means ± θ2 Rd of a symmetric twocomponent Gaussian mixture δN(θ;I) + (1 - δ) N(-θ;I), where the weights δand 1 - δare unequal. Assuming that δis known, we show that the population version of the EM algorithm globally converges if the initial estimate has non-negative inner product with the mean of the larger weight component. This can be achieved by the trivial initialization θ0 = 0. For the empirical iteration based on n samples, we show that when initialized at θ0 = 0, the EM algorithm adaptively achieves the minimax error rate O ( min n 1 (1-2δ) q d n;1 kθk q d n;- d n )1/4 }) in no more than O ( 1 θ (1-2δ) ) iterations (with high probability). We also consider the EM iteration for estimating the weight δ, assuming a fixed mean θ (which is possibly mismatched to θ). For the empirical iteration of n samples, we show that the minimax error rate ∼O ( 1 θ q d n ) is achieved in no more than O ( 1 θ2 ) iterations. Reinforcement learning holds promise in enabling robotic tasks as it can learn optimal policies via trial and ***,the practical deployment of reinforcement learning usually requires human intervention to provide episodic resets when a failure *** manual resets are generally unavailable in autonomous robots,we propose a reset-free reinforcement learning algorithm based on multi-state recovery and failure prevention to avoid failure-induced *** multi-state recovery provides robots with the capability of recovering from failures by self-correcting its behavior in the problematic state and,more importantly,deciding which previous state is the best to return to for efficient *** failure prevention reduces potential failures by predicting and excluding possible unsafe actions in specific *** simulations and real-world experiments are used to validate our algorithm with the results showing a significant reduction in the number of resets and failures during the learning.

Named Data Networking as an alternative network for 5G network traffic is required to be able to provide better performance compared to other networks such as internet protocol networks. In NDN wireless, it is known that there is producer mobility and consumer mobility, so optimal mobility management is needed, including the handover process. In this paper the author proposes a simple RSSI-based 5G handover algorithm with distance as a reference RSSI value. This algorithm is a preparation for the handover algorithm on the NDN wireless network. By using the assumed distance value MS to eNB as the basic value for calculating RSSI, handover determination is determined by comparing the RSSI value to the RSSI threshold value. With the scenario of different numbers of users and cluster sizes, from the handover process involving 8 eNB. It can be calculated how big the handover probability is for each user. From the simulation results, it can be concluded that the more users and the larger the cluster size, the greater the handover probability value. This is linear, with the wider the cluster, the probability of getting an RSSI signal from the original eNB becomes smaller, making it possible to get an RSSI signal from neighboring eNB, so that a handover occurs. © 2024 IEEE.

Purpose: The development of an automated premature ventricular contraction (PVC) detection system has significant implications for early intervention and treatment decisions. This study aims to develop a novel approach using various supervised machine learning (ML) methods for detecting PVCs in electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings. Methodology: To achieve this, we extracted ten distinct statistical and temporal features from 33 long-term ECG recordings from the benchmark MIT-BIH arrhythmia database (MIT-BIH-AD), capturing significant characteristics from the signals. We then investigated the effectiveness of traditional ML algorithms in identifying PVCs based on these features, namely support vector machine (SVM), decision tree (DT), naïve Bayes (NB), k-nearest neighbor (KNN), linear discriminant analysis (LDA), and artificial neural network (ANN). Results: Among these classifiers, the SVM, KNN, ANN, and DT classifiers demonstrated exceptional discriminatory power and classification performance, yielding near-perfect area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC-ROC) values of 97.3%, 95.4%, 95%, and 94.1%, respectively. On the other hand, the SVM classifier emerged as the most accurate, achieving an overall accuracy of 97.39%, indicative of making correct predictions. Conclusion: These findings underscore the generalization of the proposed approach, especially since we worked on an extended dataset encompassing different types of heartbeats to discriminate PVCs from other heartbeat types, not only normal ones, and providing closer alignment with real-world scenarios. Subsequently, the robustness and accuracy of these models highlight their suitability for clinical applications and their potential for efficient implementation and deployment in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), as they demand minimal computational resources and time. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to The Brazilian Society of Biomedical engineering 2025.

Diabetes is one of the most common diseases in Jordan. It is the main reason of death among Jordanian adult citizens. Worldwide, 48% of all deaths are due to Diabetes occurred before the age of 70 years. Hence, this research is interested in the early prediction of this disease among Jordanian people. To achieve this main objective, Machine Learning (ML) is utilized through a large number of classification models and considering five well-known evaluation metrics. These classification models have been trained on a primary dataset that has been collected for the purpose of the research. The results revealed that BayesNet and NaiveBayes are the best classification models to handle the task of the early prediction of Diabetes in Jordan © 2024 IEEE.

Online platforms face the challenge of moderating an ever-increasing volume of content, including harmful hate speech. In the absence of clear legal definitions and a lack of transparency regarding the role of algorithms in shaping decisions on content moderation, there is a critical need for external accountability. Our study contributes to filling this gap by systematically evaluating four leading cloud-based content moderation services through a third-party audit, highlighting issues such as biases against minorities and vulnerable groups that may arise through over-reliance on these services. Using a black-box audit approach and four benchmark data sets, we measure performance in explicit and implicit hate speech detection as well as counterfactual fairness through perturbation sensitivity analysis and present disparities in performance for certain target identity groups and data sets. Our analysis reveals that all services had difficulties detecting implicit hate speech, which relies on more subtle and codified messages. Moreover, our results point to the need to remove group-specific bias. It seems that biases towards some groups, such as Women, have been mostly rectified, while biases towards other groups, such as LGBTQ+ and PoC remain. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

This paper presents an example of designing a computer network for a business building. When creating the project documentation, care was taken to ensure that it complies with current standards and the Rulebook on technical conditions for the electronic communication network of commercial and residential buildings. The technical description explains what structured cabling is, describes the importance of following its rules and standards, and defines the ways of marking all the equipment used in the creation of this computer network. Furthermore, an overview of all equipment with its characteristics is presented in detail. The logical scheme defines the so-called vertical network, i.e., the backbone, that is, it shows how each individual part of the active equipment inside the building is connected, how the communication cabinets are connected between the floors, and how the network switches and routers inside the communication cabinets are connected to each other. For each socket and cable, a unique label is defined, this creates a horizontal office network. This is the main part of structured cabling, where the precise definition of each individual part of the computer network provides the basis for safe and stable network operation, the possibility of easy upgrades in the future, and the elimination of possible difficulties that may arise. Application of the quality of service (QoS) on the network will be considered is the and recommendations given to avoid undesirable congestion during the flow of data by properly planning the QoS rules, such as packet marking and traffic shaping. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
