Device-to-device (D2D) communication, in contrast to typical cellular connections, is a direct connection between adjacent mobile users;it skips the base station (BS) and does not rely on network infrastructure to deliver high data rates and minimal battery usage. To address concerns regarding power consumption, D2D connections and cellular networks were combined in underlay mode. Both D2D and cellular connections employ licensed frequency bands in underlay D2D communication;however, due to resource sharing, these bands may overlap, reducing service quality while increasing spectral efficiency. Most existing research focuses solely on energy efficiency (EE) in the setting of individual cells. This article took into account the complete cellular network, including D2D connections across many bands. A closed-form expression for the energy EE of D2D connections underlaid on cellular networks over Nakagami-m fading channels has been derived using stochastic geometric theory, where performance improves by decreasing EE and EE decreases as the density of D2D and cellular users increases. Increasing the shape parameter value m (Nakagami-m order) on the D2D will improve users' EE is also examined. Results of simulations are used to validate analytical conclusions. © 2024 University of Split, FESB.

This research aims to construct a two-dimensional image to represent an underwater geometry map with a Side Scan Sonar (SSS) mounted on a Hybrid Autonomous Underwater Glider (HAUG). Building the underwater map has two stages of the process. The first stage is preprocessing which includes Time-varying gains (TVG), slant range correction, and ground range correction. The second is HAUG navigation, the movement of HAUG orientation to the angle and distance of SSS readings and plotting the geometry of the grid map. With these two stages, a two-dimensional grid map will be formed. Meanwhile, the 3D plot utilizes slant range and ground range correction to obtain the surface height of the bottom of the pool. From the experiments conducted to conduct mapping in the pool, two-dimensional and three-dimensional visual forms of the pool floor and pool walls were produced. The results of the estimated measurement of the width of the pool obtained 14.05 meters and the height of the pool 3.199 meters with an SSS beam angle of 58 degrees. © 2023 IEEE.

This review navigates through the evolutionary trajectory of AI integration in medicine, tracing its transformative impact on hematology and beyond. It explores the burgeoning field of AI applications in hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), from diagnosis to prognosis, heralding a new era of precision medicine. Through the lens of integrative multi-omics methodologies, the review delves into the molecular signatures intricately woven within the stem cell niche, deciphering the regulatory networks orchestrating stem cell fate decisions. Emerging technologies like single-cell multi-omics profiling and spatial transcriptomics offer newfound vistas to explore cellular heterogeneity and spatial organization within the stem cell niche, paving the way for transformative advances in regenerative medicine. Osteoarthritis is the most common joint disease, affecting about 12% of the population. It mainly affects the weight-bearing hip and knee joints but is also commonly found in other locations (spine, shoulder, elbow, and fingers). In Osteoarthritis, the articular cartilage is gradually destroyed, and its mechanical properties are altered, typically manifested externally by pain, frequent inflammation, and *** part of the clinical needs of physicians, regular monitoring and recording of knee conditions are advisable during the follow-up and treatment of the disease. This paper proposes a process to obtain an image of the knee using a camera mounted on a sliding stand. To ensure the repeatability of the image acquisition, a software process is presented that allows finding the knee in the image. The found knee can be used in the unattended device to move the camera to an optimal position corresponding to the centre of the patient's knee. © 2023 IEEE.

A low-profile ultra-wideband(UWB)band-stop frequency selective surface(FSS)is designed for S-,C-,X-and Ku-bands communication *** FSS is constructed by using square and circular loop elements printed on the top and bottom sides of the RO3210 *** FSS has been designed to reduce the electromagnetic interference(EMI)as well as to mitigate the harmful effects of electromagnetic radiation on the human body caused by different radio *** dimension and size of the UWB FSS have been reduced to 0.12λ×0.12λand 90%,respectively,as compared to the reported *** other advantages of the proposed FSS are that it is low profile,it has a simplified geometry and it ensures better angular and polarization stability of up to 85◦.The-10 and-20 dB bandwidths of the proposed FSS are 146%(2.0-13.0 GHz)and 80%(4.87-11.42 GHz),*** results have been obtained using ANSYS HFSS and verified through measured results.

Aggregate production planning is an essential stage in the production process by companies because the planning stage will affect the next stage. It will be crucial if the company has several production branch locations or can be referred to as multi-site. The rules that apply and the parameter values for each production branch will undoubtedly be different from other production branches. This raises problems for the company in addition to uncertain consumer demand problems. This problem is quite complicated and very important to solve. The author resolves the problems faced by the company by applying the proposed method, namely the hybridization of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS). The solution generated by the proposed method proved optimum. © 2023 IEEE.

Text extraction from images using the traditional techniques of image collecting,and pattern recognition using machine learning consume time due to the amount of extracted features from the *** Neural Networks introduce effective solutions to extract text features from images using a few techniques and the ability to train large datasets of images with significant *** study proposes using Dual Maxpooling and concatenating convolution Neural Networks(CNN)layers with the activation functions Relu and the Optimized Leaky Relu(OLRelu).The proposed method works by dividing the word image into slices that contain *** pass them to deep learning layers to extract feature maps and reform the predicted *** Short Memory(BiLSTM)layers extractmore compelling features and link the time sequence fromforward and backward directions during the training *** Connectionist Temporal Classification(CTC)function calcifies the training and validation loss *** addition to decoding the extracted feature to reform characters again and linking them according to their time *** proposed model performance is evaluated using training and validation loss errors on the Mjsynth and Integrated Argument Mining Tasks(IAM)*** result of IAM was 2.09%for the average loss errors with the proposed dualMaxpooling and *** the Mjsynth dataset,the best validation loss rate shrunk to 2.2%by applying concatenating CNN layers,and Relu.

Integrating deep learning methods into metaheuristic algorithms has gained attention for addressing design-related issues and enhancing performance. The primary objective is to improve solution quality and convergence speed within solution search spaces. This study investigates the use of deep learning methods as a generative model to learn historical content, including global best and worst solutions, solution sequences, function evaluation patterns, solution space characteristics, population modification trajectories, and movement between local and global search processes. An LSTM-based architecture is trained on dynamic optimization data collected during the metaheuristic optimization process. The trained model generates an initial solution space and is integrated into the optimization algorithms to intelligently monitor the search process during exploration and exploitation phases. The proposed deep learning-based methods are evaluated on 55 benchmark functions of varying complexities, including CEC 2017 and compared with 13 biology-based, evolution-based, and swarm-based metaheuristic algorithms. Experimental results demonstrate that all the deep learning-based optimization algorithms achieve high-quality solutions, faster convergence rates, and significant performance improvements. These findings highlight the critical role of deep learning in addressing design issues, enhancing solution quality, trajectory, and performance speed in metaheuristic algorithms. © The Author(s) 2025.

The drum kit, which has only been around for around 100 years, is a popular instrument in many music genres such as pop, rock, and jazz. However, the road to owning a kit is expensive, both financially and space-wise. Also, drums are more difficult to move around compared to other instruments, as they do not fit into a single bag. We propose a no-drums approach that uses only two sticks and a smartphone or a webcam to provide an air-drumming experience. The detection algorithm combines deep learning tools with tracking methods for an enhanced user experience. Based on both quantitative and qualitative testing with humans-in-the-loop, we show that our system has zero misses for beginner level play and negligible misses for advanced level play. Additionally, our limited human trials suggest potential directions for future research. © 2023 IEEE.

Environmental monitoring and educational accessibility face significant challenges due to the complexity and high cost of traditional satellite systems. Addressing these issues requires a cost-effective solution that enables comprehensive study and intervention to improve environmental conditions. In this paper, we introduce CanSat, a compact satellite designed for educational and research purposes, utilizing off-the-shelf components and a 3D-printed frame to streamline operations and focus on critical processes such as modeling and communication. Equipped with a microcontroller (Esp32) and an RF communication (LoRa Module). CanSat efficiently processes and transmits data, including real-time video, temp, and %RH (% Relative humidity), to ground stations. The CanSat's performance was observed through successful data transmission and global accessibility of data visualization and analysis. The results indicated reliable operation, with data visualization and analysis accessible worldwide through customized web pages and real-time tracking capabilities, demonstrating CanSat's potential as a user-friendly and cost-effective platform for near-space exploration © 2024 IEEE.
