In vapour phase soldering, the equipment and process control are usually based on temperature. Heat sensors are placed at different heights in the vapour area and the equipment makes decisions based on their values. The disadvantage of this method is that due to the physical parameters of the heat sensors, they may give different results in the same process. Due to the saturation nature of the temperature characteristics, idle times occur during the operation of the equipment. The aim of this research was to characterize the hydrostatic pressure conditions in the saturated vapour space to improve process control. A solution to the problems of pressure measurement was found, and the pressure response of an industrial vapour phase equipment was investigated. By comparing the results obtained with the temperature results, it was possible to establish the aforementioned idle time. The paper focuses on the development of the measurement device too, which serves as an IoT-enabled node for data logging.

The millimeter wave two-dimensional Van Atta arrays, designed for data encoding in chipless RFID systems, are presented in this paper. The arrays, fabricated using LTCC technology, are optimized for the 24 GHz band. Frequency-domain data encoding is achieved using microstrip resonators integrated with the lines of the array feed network, which selectively attenuates signal transmission at frequencies determined by their lengths. The fabricated chipless RFID tags, with dimensions of 24 x 24 mm, feature an information encoding capacity of up to 2 bits and an RCS level of up to -28 dBsm. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first time that practical realization of 2-D Van Atta arrays integrated with resonant circuits for data encoding have been presented.

This study explores the enhancement of Slovak Natural Language Processing (NLP) by fine-tuning Sentence BERT models using the translated MS MARCO V2 dataset, facilitated by the MADLAD-400 language model. We translated the MS MARCO V2 dataset into Slovak and utilized this translation to train Sentence BERT models, aiming to improve the quality of vector representations for Slovak sentences. Employing a triplet network approach, we derived meaningful sentence vector representations, enabling effective comparison through cosine similarity. The research yields a newly translated database and evaluates the performance of fine-tuned Slovak vector representation models, thereby advancing Slovak search capabilities.

Resampling techniques like SMOTE and its variants are commonly used to address class imbalance in datasets. However, this method often generates non-representative samples that do not reflect the inherent structure of the dataset. This issue is particularly pronounced in sparse multi-class imbalanced datasets, where resampling can lead to improper data patterns and degrade the performance of models trained on such data. To address these limitations, a novel Sparse PCA-Enhanced Adaptive Resampling (SPEAR) is proposed and tailored for sparse imbalanced datasets. The method modifies class distributions by calculating the average class size, down-sampling larger classes through k-Means, and up-sampling smaller ones using Sparse Principal Component Analysis (SPCA) before integrating the resampled data back into the original distributions. Sparse PCA encourages sparsity in the principal components, preserving the data structure and resembling the original data patterns. The proposed approach was evaluated on ten datasets, comparing its performance against eight baseline resampling methods using three classifiers. Experimental results demonstrate that the method consistently outperforms the baselines, achieving higher G-mean values on average. Statistical tests further confirm the significance of these improvements, underscoring the efficacy of the proposed technique in addressing class imbalance, particularly in sparse datasets. © 2025 IEEE.

The well-known management strategies in cloud computing based on SLA requirements are considered. A deterministic parallel provisioning algorithm has been prepared and used to show its behavior for three different requirements: load balancing, consolidation, and fault tolerance. The impact of these strategies on the total execution time of different sets of services is analyzed for randomly chosen sets of data. Data privacy is crucial today, especially with regulations such as GDPR. Data anonymization is key, but common methods often reduce data value. This paper explores the acronymization process, which replaces sensitive data with abbreviations, as a way to balance protection and data usability. We propose a new approach: using large language models (LLMs) to create training data for a T5 model, which we then fine-tune for acronymizing sensitive data. The results show that this method, especially when using LLMs like Gemma-9B-IT to augment the data, achieves promising results and outperforms existing Named Entity Recognition (NER) models in the specific task of acronymization. This offers a more efficient and scalable solution for anonymizing text data, contributing to both privacy protection and preserving the utility of data for analysis and research.

This article deals with the use of correlation co-efficients for optimizing input data in hybrid FSO/RF systems, where the RSSI parameter plays a key role. We explain the basic principles of operation of hybrid FSO/RF networks and their vulnerability to atmospheric influences, such as fog or turbulence. Subsequently, we focus on the calculation and interpretation of Pearson, Spearman and Kendall's Tau correlation coefficients, which help to reveal the most important variables for a more accurate RSSI analysis. The results of correlation analyses indicate that a careful selection of input attributes can contribute to a better understanding of the key factors affecting signal quality and thus to a more efficient switching between FSO and RF links in different weather conditions.

The optimization of power consumption of manufacturing lines (ML) is a relevant topic in the context of increasing electricity prices. This paper presents the topic of optimizing the energy consumption of a production system, through optimization technique based on the multi-objective PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithm. The novelty of the approach lies in the development of an Advanced PSO algorithm (APSO), which brings superior results in optimizing energy consumption. The research was carried out in successive stages, starting with data collection, and ending with the implementation of the results on the production line, everything being subordinated to the criterion of optimizing energy consumption. APSO's advanced optimization technique was implemented on a flexible manufacturing line (FML) composed of five linearly interconnected workstations. The APSO optimization algorithm, following implementation and testing on FML, provides a solution for controlling the conveyor speeds of each station that guarantees in the overall approach to the process a minimum energy consumption, but also a minimum execution time of the algorithm. © 2024, Politechnica University of Bucharest. This paper presents the designs and fabrication of lens antennas made of environmentally friendly materials. The specific goal of the work was to present ecological solutions used in 3D printing. Therefore, a study of the distribution of samples of four selected filaments in selected environments was conducted. It was investigated whether the selected compostable filaments are suitable to produce dielectric lenses. The tested lens antennas are intended for communication in vehicle-toeverything (V2X) applications at 5.9 GHz. In the project, care was taken to achieve a balance between the weight and size of the lenses while aiming at highest possible gain. A patch antenna was designed, and several lenses were evaluated to select final four lenses that can provide a compromise between acceptable antenna electrical parameters and sustainability of the antenna prototypes. The created physical structures had similar parameters to the simulated models but the type of filament had an impact on the measured gain. During the tests, it was proven that one of the two selected filaments, despite the manufacturer's assurances, is not compostable. The conicalhemispherical lens printed from allPHA filament, which decomposed in compost, weighed about 157 g and had a gain of about 13.5 dBi. It had the lowest Axial Ratio level of 1.22 dB and Axial Ratio Bandwidth (<3 dB) of 91 MHz.
