Recently, WiFi Fingerprinting-based indoor positioning systems have gained significant attention due to the low cost of infrastructure deployment. In the data collection process, a higher density of reference points may lead to better positioning results. However, it makes this process time-consuming and laborious. To solve this problem, this study applies and compares different interpolation methods to enrich the fingerprint database without increasing the cost of the collection process. To evaluate the performance of the chosen methods, five interpolation methods are implemented in a multi-condition WiFi Fingerprinting dataset. Moreover, to check the robustness of the methods, different numbers of reference points are considered when creating the new interpolated fingerprint databases. According to the results, inverse distance weighting (IDW) is the most suitable interpolation method with low complexity and stable performance. The IDW-based database achieves an average interpolation error of less than 6 dBm compared to the original database. When applying this interpolated database to perform positioning tasks, it helps reduce the collection cost by 30% with slightly lower positioning results compared to the original database. This work demonstrates the feasibility of using interpolation to ease the data collection process of WiFi Fingerprinting, especially in complex and big areas such as airports or hospitals. Despite numerous challenges optical communication offers faster data transmission than its radio-frequency (RF) counterpart, enabling implementation of technologies requiring high transmission rates. In the satellite communication precise determination of the distance between the ground station and the satellite is needed to properly estimate and control the parameters of its orbit. Several different satellite ranging techniques basing on traditional RF communication has been proposed1-3, including sequential, pseudo-noise and telemetry ranging. However, significant improvement of the ranging accuracy can be expected when switching to the optical methods4. Nevertheless, the feasibility and performance of free-space optical communication protocols, including ranging, depends on the overall optical power loss, which is heavily conditioned on the atmospheric turbulence5. In this paper we present the design of the laboratory setup to test a variant of optical telemetry ranging protocol6 implemented in an optical modem in the presence of atmospheric turbulence, with the expected ranging accuracy of 3 cm. The simulator capabilities include simulation of typical effects occurring as a result of atmospheric turbulence mainly optical scintillation while also studying the Doppler effect due to satellite's motion relative to ground station7,8. The optical channel simulator is based on fiber optics with electro-optical intensity modulator controlled by arbitrary waveform generator. © 2023 SPIE. All rights reserved.

Cyberbullying is a form of harassment or bullying that takes place online or through digital devices like smartphones,computers,or *** can occur through various channels,such as social media,text messages,online forums,or gaming *** involves using technology to intentionally harm,harass,or intimidate others and may take different forms,including exclusion,doxing,impersonation,harassment,and ***,due to the rapid growth of malicious internet users,this social phenomenon is becoming more frequent,and there is a huge need to address this ***,the main goal of the research proposed in this manuscript is to tackle this emerging challenge.A dataset of sexist harassment on Twitter,containing tweets about the harassment of people on a sexual basis,for natural language processing(NLP),is used for this *** algorithms are used to transform the text into a meaningful representation of numbers for machine learning(ML)input:Term frequency inverse document frequency(TF-IDF)and Bidirectional encoder representations from transformers(BERT).The well-known eXtreme gradient boosting(XGBoost)ML model is employed to classify whether certain tweets fall into the category of sexual-based harassment or ***,with the goal of reaching better performance,several XGBoost models were devised conducting hyperparameter tuning by *** this purpose,the recently emerging Coyote optimization algorithm(COA)was modified and adjusted to optimize the XGBoost ***,other cutting-edge metaheuristics approach for this challenge were also implemented,and rigid comparative analysis of the captured classification metrics(accuracy,Cohen kappa score,precision,recall,and F1-score)was ***,the best-generated model was interpreted by Shapley additive explanations(SHAP),and useful insights were gained about the behavioral patterns of people who perform social harassment.

A reference point detection system for position validation of a mobile object was developed for verification of experiments. The detection is based on a classic image processing algorithm and a processing algorithm using neural networks. Both approaches are compared. High-precision concept of the system is based on a camera sensor and automatic processing of video frames for position evaluation. Aligning large language models with human preferences using historical text edits

Aligning large language models with human values (to be helpful, harmless, honest) requires high-quality, comprehensive human preference datasets. However, the substantial cost of creating such datasets often limits their size and scope, hindering preference learning research and limiting open-source model development. In our research, we propose EditPrefs, a cost-effective method that uses historical text edits to create preference datasets without manual data labeling or distilling preferences from strong language models. Our method automatically builds the dataset while capturing genuine human preferences expressed through text revisions. The method constructs the dataset by treating the revised text as a response preferred over the original text and generates matching instructions using a language model. To validate EditPrefs, we applied it to Wikipedia article revisions and extensively evaluated the resulting dataset's performance. The Zephyr-7b-β-SFT model aligned with our dataset performed on par with models trained on manually curated datasets. Additionally, a reward model trained on our dataset captured more nuanced human preferences and outperformed models trained on widely used datasets built through crowd-sourcing, manual annotation, or distillation from large language models. These findings validate the effectiveness of our approach, highlighting its potential for creating larger, more diverse, and potentially multilingual or domain-specific preference datasets. © 2025

We study the effects of center initialization on the performance of a family of distributed gradient-based clustering algorithms introduced in [1], that work over connected networks of users. In the considered scenario, each user contains a local dataset and communicates only with its immediate neighbours, with the aim of finding a global clustering of the joint data. We perform extensive numerical experiments, evaluating the effects of center initialization on the performance of our family of methods, demonstrating that our methods are more resilient to the effects of initialization, compared to centralized gradient clustering [2]. Next, inspired by the K-means++ initialization [3], we propose a novel distributed center initialization scheme, which is shown to improve the performance of our methods, compared to the baseline random initialization. © 2024 IEEE.

We introduce a novel quantum genetic algorithm (QGA) that selects the optimum extreme (minimum or maximum) value of an unconstrained goal function with very low computational complexity. The quality of the initial candidate solutions of the classical genetic algorithm (CGA) has a strong influence on the speed of convergence to the best optimum result. To boost the quality of the initial selected random candidate solutions, we merge the CGA with a quantum extreme value searching algorithm (QEVSA). We exploited the proposed QGA as an embedded computational infrastructure for the uplink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system. The algorithm maximizes the energy efficiency of the uplink MIMO system. Simulation results show that the suggested QGA successfully achieves maximum energy efficiency by determining the best transmit power of the active users. © 2023 IEEE.

Infertility affects around 15% of couples worldwide. Male fertility problems include poor sperm quality and low sperm count. The advanced fertility treatment methods like ICSI are nowadays supported by vision systems to assist embryologists in selecting good quality sperm. Computer-Assisted Semen Analysis (CASA) provides quantitative and qualitative sperm analysis concerning concentration, motility, morphology, vitality, and fragmentation. However, fertility assessment algorithms often neglect individual spermatozoon tail and its beating patterns because recognizing the tails in blurry microscopic images reliably is challenging. In this article, we propose that models trained with head and tail part classes can better localize parts and segment the whole spermatozoon objects. Usually, the training of segmentation sperm models is supported by image-level augmentation. We argue that models guided by class-specific data augmentation attend to less discriminative sperm parts. To demonstrate this, we decouple the augmentation into object-level and background augmentation for the sperm part segmentation problem. Our proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art methods on the SegSperm dataset. Moreover, our ablation studies confirm the effectiveness of the proposed part-based object representation and augmentation.
