D. in physics from “Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität” in Münster Germany in 1989 After a 6 months spell working for Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. hebecame an employee of Leybold AG in Hanau Germay working with the R&D division in the field of large area thin film conatings. In 1994 hebacama a product manager in the CD division of leybold and since June this year he is responsible for CD metallizer sales and marketing in Europe within the new company Singulus Technologies. born in 1939 studied Physics and Mechanical Engineering at the technical University of Stuttgart Germany. Between 1966 and 1972 he worked in R&D at Siemens karlsruhe. At Leybold Hanau he started in 1972 and during the first years he built up the Analytical Division meanwhile sold to Rosemount. In 1989 Mr. Seile got involved in leybold's CD business which he developed to today's leadership in CD metallizers and CD replication lines. Mr. Seiler will follow the metallizer business which has been sold by Leybold as a consequence of a F.T.C. (Federal Trade Commission USA) order ruled in conjunction with the acquisition of Leybold by oerlikon Bührle the parant company of Balzers. He will continue as Managing Director at Singulus Technologies the new company which takes over the metalizer activities. born in 1960 finished highschool in 1979. After absolving the demanded time in the Germany army he studied at the TH Darmstadt and the FH Gießen Mechanical Engineering and received the Diploma in 1986. During the final year at university he started to work 1985 in the R&D division for Leybold AG in Hanau. Since 1986 he worked in the field of all kinds of R&D activities for Compant Discs. In 1990 he became the group leader of the founded R&D group for CD at Leybold. New Mr. Sichmann in responsible for the R&D division of the new founded company Singulus Technologies.

Dr. Smith manages the High Energy Battery Project sponsored by the Office of Naval Research. A major thrust of this Project is developing power sources to propel naval underwater vehicles. Dr. Smith has authored numerous papers on lithium batteries and is presently editor-in-chief of the High Energy Battery Newsletter. She obtained her Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry at the University of Maryland in 1981. David L. Chua:is manager of lithium battery R&D at Alliant Techsystems Inc.-Power Sources Center (formerly Honeywell) Horsham Penn. He is responsible for the research and development of both primary and rechargeable lithium technologies. He earned his M.S. in metallurgical engineering at the University of Arizona in 1969 and a Ph.D. in materials engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1973. Dr. Chua has over 15 years experience in lithium electrochemical research received 5 patents and authored numerous papers on lithium battery technology. Charles W. He has B.S. and M.S. degrees in mathematics and statistics from Princeton University and the University of Illinois and has completed additional graduate work toward a Ph.D. at MIT. He has directed a number of algorithm development and data analysis activities in support of the U.S. Navy's Trident programs and has authored several technical papers. Mr. Whitney is currently involved in development and field testing of passive sonar signal processing algorithms and directs a R&D activity in the area of parallel processing applications for ASW. Lt Terry J. Benedict USNis an engineering duty officer in the U.S. Navy and is currently assigned as the assistant section head for missile engineering at Strategic Systems Programs Washington D.C. He received his B.S.E. degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in 1970 and his M.S.E. degree in Ship Hydrodynamics in 1974 both from the University of Michigan. Mr. Comstock began his career with theU.S. Navyin 1974 as a Seakeeping Specialist in the Hull Form and Fluid Dynamics Branch of the former Naval Ship Engineering Center. Achieving his present position in January 1982 Mr. Comstock was previously Head of the Surface Ship Hydrodynamics Section of SEA 3213 being responsible for recent hull form designs including DDG-51 MCM-1 and ARS-50. Before obtaining that position in 1979 Mr. Comstock's efforts were primarily aimed at developing and establishing seakeeping performance assessment and design practices. Prior to his employment by the Navy Mr. Comstock worked in the Structural and Hydrodynamics Group of General Dynamics' Electric Boat Division. A member of ASNE he is also a member of ASE and SNAME and has been active in supporting the efforts of the SNAME H-7 (Seakeeping) Panel SNAME HS-12 (Hull Instrumentation) Panel the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the NATO Armaments Group IEG6/Sub-Group 5 (Seakeeping). Ms. Susan L. Bales:has been associated with the David W. Taylor Naval Ship R&D Center (DTNSRDC) and its predecessor organizations throughout her professional career. Upon graduation in 1948 he joined the Staff of the David Taylor Model Basin (DTMB) and during the following ten years held various positions in the Hydromechanics Laboratory. In 1958 he left his position as Head of the Towing Problems Branch and joined Cleveland Pneumatic Industries which later became Pneumo Dynamics Corporation (PDC). He was General Manager of PDC's Systems Engineering Division and in 1961 became a corporate Vice President. In 1964 he returned to DTMB where he became the Technical Manager of the Hydrofoil Development Program Office. In October 1969 he was appointed to his present position of Associate Technical Director for Systems Development and Head Systems Development Department David W. Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Maryland an Honorary Life Member of ASNE and a Fellow of ASME. He also has been the author of a number of papers and reports in the field of Naval Engineering and has served as a member of the ASNE Council from 1972 to 1974 was a member of the ASNE Flagship Section Council (1977-80) and is currently a member of the ASNE Honors and Awards Committee. He became a member of ASNE in 1960 and received his Honorary Life Membership when he was awarded the ASNE Gold Medal for 1973 at ASNE Day 1974. Dennis J. Clark:received his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from City College of New York in 1963. Upon graduating he joined DTMB's Structural Mechanics Laboratory where he worked on a number of full-scale trials of surface ships evaluating the structural integrity of icebreakers sonar domes and Hydrofoils.
