A survey on cross-user federated recommendation

Recommender systems are effective in mitigating information overload, yet the centralized storage of user data raises significant privacy concerns. Cross-user federated recommendation(CUFR) provides a promising distributed paradigm to address these concerns by enabling privacy-preserving recommendations directly on user devices. In this survey, we review and categorize current progress in CUFR, focusing on four key aspects: privacy, security, accuracy, and efficiency. Firstly,we conduct an in-depth privacy analysis, discuss various cases of privacy leakage, and then review recent methods for privacy protection. Secondly, we analyze security concerns and review recent methods for untargeted and targeted *** untargeted attack methods, we categorize them into data poisoning attack methods and parameter poisoning attack methods. For targeted attack methods, we categorize them into user-based methods and item-based methods. Thirdly,we provide an overview of the federated variants of some representative methods, and then review the recent methods for improving accuracy from two categories: data heterogeneity and high-order information. Fourthly, we review recent methods for improving training efficiency from two categories: client sampling and model compression. Finally, we conclude this survey and explore some potential future research topics in CUFR.

ContextAug:model-domain failing test augmentation with contextual information

In the process of software development,the ability to localize faults is crucial for improving the efficiency of *** speaking,detecting and repairing errant behavior at an early stage of the development cycle considerably reduces costs and development *** have tried to utilize various methods to locate the faulty ***,failing test cases usually account for a small portion of the test suite,which inevitably leads to the class-imbalance phenomenon and hampers the effectiveness of fault ***,in this work,we propose a new fault localization approach named *** obtaining dynamic execution through test cases,ContextAug traces these executions to build an information model;subsequently,it constructs a failure context with propagation dependencies to intersect with new model-domain failing test samples synthesized by the minimum variability of the minority feature *** contrast to traditional test generation directly from the input domain,ContextAug seeks a new perspective to synthesize failing test samples from the model domain,which is much easier to augment test *** conducting empirical research on real large-sized programs with 13 state-of-the-art fault localization approaches,ContextAug could significantly improve fault localization effectiveness with up to 54.53%.Thus,ContextAug is verified as able to improve fault localization effectiveness.

SegNet-OPC: A Mask Optimization Framework in VLSI Design FlowBased on Semantic Segmentation Network

With the continuous decrease in the critical dimensions of integrated circuits, mask optimization has becomethe main challenge in VLSI design. In recent years, thriving machine learning has been gradually introduced in the field ofoptical proximity correction (OPC). Currently, advanced learning-based frameworks have been limited by low mask printability or large computational overhead. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a learning-based frameworknamed SegNet-OPC, which can generate optimized masks from the target layout at shorter training and turnaround timewith higher mask printability. The proposed framework consists of a backbone network and loss terms suitable for maskoptimization tasks, followed by a fine-tuning network. The framework yields remarkable improvements over conventionalmethods, delivering significantly faster turnaround time and superior mask printability and manufacturability. With just1.25 hours of training, the framework achieves comparable mask complexity while surpassing the state-of-the-art methods,achieving a minimum 3% enhancement in mask printability and an impressive 16.7% improvement in mask manufacturability.

A Robust Pilot Decontamination Scheme in Massive MIMO Systems: Integrating Rateless Orthogonal STBC, Weighted Graph Coloring, and Channel Estimation

Even though Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems are one of the greatest innovations in wireless cellular network technology, they still face many challenges as we progress to 6G, hindering their ability to achieve the best throughput. In cellular networks, channel estimations are made using pilot sequences. Deploying these orthogonal time-frequency limited resources leads to pilot contamination, causing incorrect channel estimation due to mixed signals from neighboring cells and vice versa. Previous research has proven that this significantly decreases system performance. To reduce the impact and improve the output of Multiuser MIMO systems, this paper proposes a hybrid model combining Rateless Orthogonal Space-Time Block Codes (ROSTBC), Weighted Graph Coloring Pilot Allocation (WGCPA), and Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE). While ROSTBC has the ability to adapt to channel conditions, allowing the system to perform well despite pilot contamination, WGCPA and MLE address the problems of pilot contamination and the accuracy of channel estimation, respectively. The results showed that this hybrid scheme has proven to perform better compared to previously proposed schemes, providing a valuable contribution to reliable Massive MIMO wireless communication. © 2013 IEEE.

Fake Face Detection Based on Fusion of Spatial Texture and High-Frequency Noise

The rapid development of the Internet has led to the widespread dissemination of manipulated facial images, significantly impacting people's daily lives. With the continuous advancement of Deepfake technology, the generated counterfeit facial images have become increasingly challenging to distinguish. There is an urgent need for a more robust and convincing detection method. Current detection methods mainly operate in the spatial domain and transform the spatial domain into other domains for analysis. With the emergence of transformers, some researchers have also combined traditional convolutional networks with transformers for detection. This paper explores the artifacts left by Deepfakes in various domains and, based on this exploration, proposes a detection method that utilizes the steganalysis rich model to extract high-frequency noise to complement spatial features. We have designed two main modules to fully leverage the interaction between these two aspects based on traditional convolutional neural networks. The first is the multi-scale mixed feature attention module, which introduces artifacts from high-frequency noise into spatial textures, thereby enhancing the model's learning of spatial texture features. The second is the multi-scale channel attention module, which reduces the impact of background noise by weighting the features. Our proposed method was experimentally evaluated on mainstream datasets, and a significant amount of experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in detecting Deepfake forged faces, outperforming the majority of existing methods.

Task offloading delay minimization in vehicular edge computing based on vehicle trajectory prediction

In task offloading,the movement of vehicles causes the switching of connected RSUs and servers,which may lead to task offloading failure or high service *** this paper,we analyze the impact of vehicle movements on task offloading and reveal that data preparation time for task execution can be minimized via forward-looking ***,a Bi-LSTM-based model is proposed to predict the trajectories of *** service area is divided into several equal-sized *** the actual position of the vehicle and the predicted position by the model belong to the same grid,the prediction is considered correct,thereby reducing the difficulty of vehicle trajectory ***,we propose a scheduling strategy for delay optimization based on the vehicle trajectory *** the inevitable prediction error,we take some edge servers around the predicted area as candidate execution servers and the data required for task execution are backed up to these candidate servers,thereby reducing the impact of prediction deviations on task offloading and converting the modest increase of resource overheads into delay reduction in task *** results show that,compared with other classical schemes,the proposed strategy has lower average task offloading delays.

Efficient machine learning based techniques for fault detection and identification in spacecraft reaction wheel

Space exploration demands robust spacecraft(SC) subsystems to endure the harsh conditions of space and ensure mission success. Attitude determination and control subsystems (ADCS), as a significant subsystem within SC, are essential for providing the necessary pointing accuracy and stability, and failures in the ADCS can lead to mission failure. Therefore, robust design, thorough testing, and Fault Detection, Isolation and Identification(FDII) techniques are crucial for spacecraft operations. This paper focuses on developing advanced FDII techniques for reaction wheels(RW) within ADCS, evaluating the Prony-based FDII technique for RW, considering its accuracy, time complexity, and memory usage, and Additionally, it introduces new machine learning-based FDII techniques, including enhancements to the Prony-based FDII technique, to manage single faults more effectively. The new proposed techniques used to explore the novel area of multiple faults within the same subsystem. Results indicate that the proposed FDII techniques significantly improve fault detection accuracy, isolation time, and memory efficiency compared to traditional techniques. These advancements enhance the reliability and longevity of spacecraft missions, ensuring that critical subsystems like ADCS operate effectively in the challenging conditions of space. The contributions presented in the paper are introducing three different FDII machine learning-based techniques that support identifying five types of single faults in spacecraft ADCS RW, outperform the Prony-based FDII technique for spacecraft ADCS RW in terms of time and memory complexity, and Finally, improves the fault tolerance of the spacecraft system by detecting Multiple fault combinations that may occur at the same time in one system. © Shanghai Jiao Tong University 2024.

LesionAid: vision transformers-based skin lesion generation and classification – A practical review

Skin cancer is one of the most prevalent forms of human cancer. It is recognized mainly visually, beginning with clinical screening and continuing with the dermoscopic examination, histological assessment, and specimen collection. Deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) perform highly segregated and potentially universal tasks against a classified fine-grained object. This study suggests a novel multi-class prediction framework that uses ViT and ViTGAN to categories skin lesions. To address the class disparity, GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks) based on vision transformers are used. The framework comprises four main phases: ViTGANs, Image processing, and explainable AI. Phase 1 consists of generating synthetic images using ViTGAN to balance all the classes in the dataset. To enhance the amount of the data, the second phase involves using various morphological processes and data augmentation techniques. In phases three and four, a ViT model for edge computing systems that can recognize patterns and classify skin lesions from the user's skin that is visible in the picture is developed. In phase 3, after classifying the lesions into the desired class with ViT, we will use explainable AI (XAI) that leads to more explainable results (using activation maps, etc.) while ensuring high predictive accuracy. The results demonstrate that the model used for generating synthetic images has achieved an FID score of 13.32 and the ViT model has achieved 99.2% as its training accuracy and 97.4% as its validation accuracy. The whole framework is compared with the existing frameworks for skin lesion detection. And explainable AI (XAI) is used in the proposed framework in order to increase model transparency and boost trust among users by illustrating the main factors affecting predictions. Automated Detection of Heart Arrhythmia Signals by Using a Convolutional Takagi–Sugeno–Kang-type Fuzzy Neural Network

In clinical practice, electrocardiography is used to diagnose cardiac abnormalities. Because of the extended time required to monitor electrocardiographic signals, the necessity of interpretation by physicians, and the vulnerability of electrocardiographic signals to noise interference, electrocardiography is laborious and places a heavy burden on healthcare providers. Therefore, in this paper, a convolutional Takagi–Sugeno–Kang (TSK)-type fuzzy neural network (CTFNN) is proposed to address the challenges of arrhythmia signal classification. The proposed CTFNN is divided into three parts, namely, a convolutional layer, a feature fusion layer, and a TSK fuzzy neural network. The TSK fuzzy neural network is used to replace the fully connected neural network, thereby reducing the number of parameters and enabling the model to mimic the human brain when classifying signals. In addition, because the parameters of the CTFNN are difficult to determine, the uniform experimental design method, which requires only a small number of experiments, is used to determine the optimal parameter combination. The proposed model was tested using the Massachusetts Institute of technology-Beth Israel Hospital (MIT-BIH) arrhythmia database, which contains 1000 records belonging to 17 categories. Each record has a duration of 10 s and contains 3600 sampling points. According to our experimental results, the accuracy, recall, precision, and F1-score of the CTFNN for long-term signals were 97.33, 97.96, 96.00, and 96.97%, respectively. In addition, the number of parameters for the proposed model was only 558,728, which was less than that for LeNet (i.e., 1734501). © 2024 M Y U Scientific Publishing Division. All rights reserved.

Machine learning with optical neural networks has featured unique advantages of the information processing including high speed,ultrawide bandwidths and low energy consumption because the optical dimensions(time,space,wavelength,and polarization)could be utilized to increase the degree of ***,due to the lack of the capability to extract the information features in the orbital angular momentum(OAM)domain,the theoretically unlimited OAM states have never been exploited to represent the signal of the input/output nodes in the neural network ***,we demonstrate OAM-mediated machine learning with an all-optical convolutional neural network(CNN)based on Laguerre-Gaussian(LG)beam modes with diverse diffraction *** proposed CNN architecture is composed of a trainable OAM mode-dispersion impulse as a convolutional kernel for feature extraction,and deep-learning diffractive layers as a *** resultant OAM mode-dispersion selectivity can be applied in information mode-feature encoding,leading to an accuracy as high as 97.2%for MNIST database through detecting the energy weighting coefficients of the encoded OAM modes,as well as a resistance to eavesdropping in point-to-point free-space ***,through extending the target encoded modes into multiplexed OAM states,we realize all-optical dimension reduction for anomaly detection with an accuracy of 85%.Our work provides a deep insight to the mechanism of machine learning with spatial modes basis,which can be further utilized to improve the performances of various machine-vision tasks by constructing the unsupervised learning-based auto-encoder.
