Fungi are one of the most diverse groups of organisms with an estimated number of species in the range of 2–3 *** higher-level ranking of fungi has been discussed in the framework of molecular phylogenetics since Hibbett et al.,and the definition and the higher ranks(e.g.,phyla)of the‘true fungi’have been revised in several subsequent *** accumulation of novel genomic data and the advancements in phylogenetics now facilitate a robust and precise foundation for the higher-level classification within the *** study provides an updated classification of the kingdom Fungi,drawing upon a comprehensive phylogenomic analysis of Holomycota,with which we outline well-supported nodes of the fungal tree and explore more contentious *** accept 19 phyla of Fungi,***,Ascomycota,Basidiobolomycota,Basidiomycota,Blastocladiomycota,Calcarisporiellomycota,Chytridiomycota,Entomophthoromycota,Entorrhizomycota,Glomeromycota,Kickxellomycota,Monoblepharomycota,Mortierellomycota,Mucoromycota,Neocallimastigomycota,Olpidiomycota,Rozellomycota,Sanchytriomycota,and *** the phylogenies,Caulochytriomycota resides in Chytridiomycota;thus,the former is regarded as a synonym of the latter,while Caulochytriomycetes is viewed as a class in *** provide a description of each phylum followed by its classes.A new subphylum,Sanchytriomycotina Karpov is introduced as the only subphylum in *** subclass Pneumocystomycetidae Kirk et *** Pneumocystomycetes,Ascomycota is invalid and thus *** of fossil fungi in phyla and classes are also discussed,providing examples.

Background: Patients with critical illness may present with disease-related malnutrition upon intensive care unit (ICU) admission. They are at risk of development and progression of malnutrition over the disease trajectory because of inflammation, dysregulated metabolism, and challenges with feeding. Methods: The Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) convened a panel of 36 clinical nutrition experts to develop consensus-based guidance statements addressing the diagnosis of malnutrition during critical illness, using a modified Delphi approach with a requirement of ≥75% agreement. Results: 1. To identify pre-existing malnutrition, we suggest evaluation within 48 hours of ICU admission when feasible (100% agreement) or within 4 days (94% agreement). 2. To identify the development and progression of malnutrition, we suggest reevaluation of all patients every 7-10 days (97% agreement). 3. To identify progressive loss of muscle mass, we suggest evaluation of muscle mass as soon as feasible (92% agreement), and again after 7-10 days (89% agreement). 4. To identify the development and progression of malnutrition prior to and after ICU discharge, we suggest reevaluating nutritional status prior to ICU discharge and during clinical visits that follow (100% agreement). Conclusion: Research using consistent etiologic and phenotypic variables offers great potential to assess the efficacy of nutrition interventions for critically ill patients with malnutrition. Assessment of these variables at during and beyond the ICU stay will clarify the trajectory of malnutrition and enable exploration of impactful treatment modalities at each juncture. GLIM offers a diagnostic approach that can be used to identify malnutrition in critically ill patients. © 2025 The Authors

The increasing consumption of antidepressants, aggravated by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, has resulted in the detection of compounds such as fluoxetine in drinking water. This substance is highly toxic to aquatic organisms and has the potential for bioaccumulation in aquatic environments. This study evaluated the effects of modifying natural zeolites through ion exchange to enhance their adsorption capacity and assess their multifunctional potential. Natural zeolites were modified by immersion in 0.1 mol L −1 solutions of AgNO 3 , MgCl 2 , FeSO 4 , and FeCl 3 , and their performance in fluoxetine removal was systematically compared. The samples were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, point of zero charge, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. Adsorption experiments were conducted with an adsorbent concentration of 1 g L −1 and an initial fluoxetine concentration of 20 mg L −1 . The silver-modified zeolite (ZN-AgNO 3 ), which achieved the best performance among the tested materials, was selected for further testing. The pseudo-second-order and Langmuir models provided the best kinetic and isotherm fits, respectively, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 36.36 mg g −1 , achieved at 308 K and an equilibrium time of 21 h. Desorption experiments showed that the adsorbent maintained recovery rates above 50 % over four cycles of reuse. The main adsorption mechanisms involved ion exchange, electrostatic interactions, and hydrogen bonding, in addition to the affinity of silver with the functional groups of fluoxetine. The adsorbent also inhibited the growth of Escherichia coli . Overall, ZN-AgNO 3 demonstrated potential for fluoxetine removal and antibacterial activity.

This review presents a comprehensive perspective on the genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 in Taiwan, with a focus on next-generation sequencing and phylogenetic interpretation. This article aimed to explore how Taiwan has utilized genomic sequencing technologies and surveillance to monitor and mitigate the spread of COVID-19. We examined databases and sources of genomic sequences and highlighted the role of data science methodologies in the explanation and analyses of evolutionary data. This review addressed the challenges and limitations inherent in genomic surveillance, such as concerns regarding data quality and the necessity for interdisciplinary expertise for accurate data interpretation. Special attention was given to the unique challenges faced by Taiwan, including its high population density and major transit destination for international travelers. We underscored the far-reaching implications of genomic surveillance data for public health policy, particularly in influencing decisions regarding travel restrictions, vaccine administration, and public health decision-making. Studies were examined to demonstrate the effectiveness of using genomic data to implement public health measures. Future research should prioritize the integration of methodologies and technologies in evolutionary data science, particularly focusing on phylodynamic analytics. This integration is crucial to enhance the precision and applicability of genomic data. Overall, we have provided an overview of the significance of genomic surveillance in tracking SARS-CoV-2 variants globally and the pivotal role of data science methodologies in interpreting these data for effective public health interventions.

Cow's milk-intolerance is a digestive problem on people who not able to digest milk. This problem may relate to the variant of (3-casein (CSN2), especially A1, suggested due to (3-casomorphins (BCM-7) formation during enzymatic digestion, for that selecting cattle free BCM-7 become a concern to produce digestive friendly milk. This study aimed to differentiate A1 and A2 allele variant of CSN2 gene in selected population of Indonesian Holstein cattle. In total 70 cows DNA were collected, and fragment of CSN2 exon 7 which contain Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) rs43703011 and rs43703013 were amplified. Variant analysis was done by mutation site analysis using PCR-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) with Mspl restriction enzyme and DNA sequence for confirmation. Result shows 2 allele variants of (3-casein that are B type, representing A1 family variant, and A2 in mutation site rs43703013C>G. We found A2 allele in the studied population is superior in frequency than A1 (0.916 vs. 0.084). Of that, 8.6% cattle were heterozygotes that is BA2 and 91.4% were homozygotes A2A2. Cattle which carry A1 allele variant should be excluded from dairy cattle breeding program for further milk production free of BCM-7.

Rodent tuber is a potential plant which can be developed as an anticancer drug. The rodent tuber plant has a low anticancer compound which does not have an economic value to be utilized on an industrial scale, particularly to explore as an anticancer drug. The material plant was used 30 clones of Rodent Tuber Pekalongan to increase its bioactive compounds using a combination of in vitro culture with gamma-ray irradiation. The selection process has been done until the 8th generation and obtained 14 somaclonal mutants that have higher bioactive compounds than control plant (non-mutant). This study aimed to analyze the genetic variation of 14 somaclonal mutants of rodent tuber using RAPD with 14 primers. The results were produced 513 total bands with the size of 200-5000 bp and 380 polymorphic bands between somaclonal mutants. OPB-18 primer produced the most polymorphic bands and five specific polymorphic bands of 1336 bp, 1070 bp, 901 bp, 861 bp and 728 bp in the somaclonal mutant M23 (20-4-2-1-1-1). OPD-20 primer produced seven specific polymorphic bands of 1574 bp, 1557 bp, 1501 bp, 1496 bp, 1234 bp, 1229 bp and 1086 bp in the M23 somaclonal mutant. The phylogenetic analysis showed that there were two main groups with the coefficient similarity between 0.77 and 0.83. The highest genetic variation obtained was found in the M23 somaclonal mutant with a genetic difference of 23% compared with control. There are five somaclonal mutants (M24, M22, M21, M16, M14) that have a genetic variation of up to 22% over the control. Halstead metric is one of software quality measurement technique. Some studies call it as Primitive and/or Classic Software Metric, although some researchers find vagueness of it. This paper utilizing Halstead metric to measuring the quality of various versions of Statcato software. Measurements are performed in each class of each version of Statcato software. Python programming used to facilitate this. This paper find that in terms of Halstead metric, this software seems stable during its lifecycle. So, the quality of the newer versions of Statcato are better in terms of stability of Halstead metrics than the earlier version, although its feature is increasing. © 2018 IEEE.

Quantum tunneling phenomenon allows a high-barrier reaction to occur even though thermal energy is not sufficient to surmount the barrier. The phenomenon has been suggested to exist in the isomerization of methylhydroxycarbene which occured at 11 K. Here we study the quantum tunneling that occured in the isomerization of methylhydroxycarbene to acetaldehyde and to vinyl alcohol based on density functional calculations. The isomerization pathways are determined under the effect of various solvents which are modeled by polarizable continuum model (PCM). We use Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) approximation to calculate the tunneling probability (T) and extend the usefulness of T into isomerization rate. The results show that the solvents give a significant effect on the isomerization rate of methylhydroxycarbene to acetaldehyde but an insignificant one on the isomerization rate to vinyl alcohol.
