In the surface modification processes obtained by high voltage electric discharges and cathodic arc at low pressures its of great interest to estimate the concentration of ions that are implanted on the surfaces of metallic substrates. The employment of computational tools to estimate the concentrations of implanted ions on the surface of materials as a function of the depth allows to optimize the experimental processes reducing costs and time. In the present research, a software that simulates the mobility, stopping and range of ions in matter by means of the Monte Carlo method is used, in order to obtain the ratio between the concentration and the dose of ions regarding to depth in a titanium ion implantation process on the surface of chromium molybdenum low alloy carbon steel;then, using experimental parameters, the implantation dose is calculated and an estimated profile of ion concentration is obtained as a function of the depth. The results showed that titanium ions implanted at 10 KV for 5 minutes and 10 minutes had projected ion ranges until depths of 250 Å and the highest concentration is located around 50 Å;the concentration of the implanted ions increases with the exposure time of the surface because the implantation dose is proportional to the discharge time. Furthermore, it is observed that the location of the highest concentration region and the range of the implanted ions is invariant. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The combination of a commercial photosensitive resin with copper nanoadditives was the focus of this research, specimens were constructed by means of laser stereolithography 3D printing technique. The physicochemical characterization investigation considered the effect of different concentrations and types of copper nanoadditives, and, established the relationship between percentage of additive and material properties. Compound resulted by mixing the resin and copper nanoadditives could be used for novel technology micro-electric-mechanical systems due to the inclusion of copper as an electricity conductor. The additive-resin weight/weight concentrations used were 0.26%, 0.34% and a 0% additive as control. After mixing the material was cured by stereolithography, and the specimens were subject to indentation test and mechanical dynamic analysis for the sake of calculate its physicochemical characteristics and how the addition of copper affected them. The viscoelastic and plastic resistance results obtained with indentation tests showed that when the concentration of additives increased the viscoelastic resistance increased too but the plastic resistance didn’t show any considerable change. The storage modulus and glass transition temperature results obtained with dynamic mechanical analysis demonstrate that when the concentration of additives increased, both, modulus and glass transition temperature tended to increase too. This research demonstrated the improvement of viscoelastic and physical-thermal properties of the resin when mixed with the copper nanoadditives in both shapes, particles and wires. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. The concentration of nitrogen and titanium atoms that are introduced into the subsurface layers of chromium molybdenum low-alloy carbon steel exposed to the ion implantation surface modification method is estimated in this article using computational tools and the experimental parameters of the process;due to the difficulty of analyzing the trajectories and the distribution of the ions in the matter in an analytical or experimental way, simulation methods were used to effectuate this study. Additionally, experimental tests were carried out with implantation times of 5 minutes and 10 minutes and the behavior of both cases was compared. The results obtained made it possible to characterize the implantation processes through distribution profiles with respect to depth and showed that varying the exposure time did not reach greater depths. However, by increasing the discharge voltage parameter, it is estimated that the projected range increases and the region of greatest concentration are located deeper. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. These proceedings are the academic and scientific contributions of the IX International Conference / Days of Applied Mathematics (ICDAM), carried out in San José de Cúcuta, Colombia, from September 21-23, 2022. The main objective of the IX ICDAM is to share concrete experiences of mathematical and physics knowledge, as well as make contributions to problem-solving in different contexts of science and engineering; likewise, the IX ICDAM highlights contributions recent that participants are making to the applied mathematics and scientific computing community. The IX ICDAM was organized by the “Facultad de Ciencias Básicas y Biomédicas” of the Universidad Simón Bolívar, San José de Cúcuta, Colombia. The IX ICDAM research works were presented by students, professors, and researchers from Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Perú, Venezuela, and Colombia, through hybrid participation (on-site and virtual).The topics developed in the IX ICDAM were the following: (i) computer science in mathematics and engineering, (ii) medical physics, (iii) mathematical physics, (iv) modeling, simulation, and diagnostics, and (v) education and communication in science and engineering. Digital transformation is an interdisciplinary work that has the objective to analyze data in real-Time for better decision making, where it involves the modeling and the simulation of physical-mathematical and social processes and the monitoring of machinery that using information and communication technologies. Nowadays the fourth industrial revolution technologies are the driver for this transformation and soon will be quantum computing and other physics and mathematics advances. Therefore, in this academic-scientific work, a curricular framework is proposed for a master's program in digital transformation for science and engineering;the framework follows the literature review and analysis to formulate the denomination and justification for the master's degree. The results are (i) a general three-level model as a roadmap for the specific curricular design of a master's in digital transformation for science and engineering;(ii) the recommendation that a master's program has a research focus in the two categories established by the Colombian standard (research and practitioner);(ii) finally, a political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal analysis justifies a master's in digital transformation for science and engineering. The research model details the phases that were carried out to characterize and identify the curriculum framework that will be the basis for formalizing the master's degree document. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This research aims to evaluate the technical characteristics of these devices to select and propose an optimal system adaptable to the manufacturing processes of hard coatings, with characteristics that allow the continuous and homogeneous production of coated surfaces, in addition to the possibility of making changes in specific properties such as pressure, voltage and temperature facilitating the combination, evaluation and obtaining of changes in the physic-chemical properties of hard coatings deposited by the technique of magnetron sputtering. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. In this contribution, we propose a theoretical Josephson coupling for a superconducting system in the three-component time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau model. We study a system with three superconducting bands ψ1, ψ2, and ψ3 in the superconducting condensate. The coupling between bands is of the form γ12, γ13 and γ23, taking into account couplings of each of the bands with the other two. We show the mathematical development of the final form of the complete set of acopled non-linear time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau differential equations, considering the coupling between the three bands, also we show that this coupling imposes a phase difference between the different components of the superconducting order parameter. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. Study of concentration-depth profiles of the titanium and nitrogen ions by srim/trim simulation*

In this research, the concentration-depth profiles reached by titanium and nitrogen particles, on the surface of AISI/SAE 1020 carbon steel substrates, by using of ion implantation technique, are studied. The ions are surface deposited by means of high voltage pulsed discharges and electric arc discharge under high vacuum conditions. The concentration and position distribution of the metallic and non-metallic species are obtained by simulation of the interaction of ions with the matter, stopping and ranges of ions in the matter, by the computer program transport of ions in matter. The implantation dose is calculated from the discharge data and the previously established study parameters in this work. From the simulation results, the depth profiles demonstrated that titanium and nitrogen ions may reach up to 300 Å and 600 Å and concentrations of 1.478 x 1016 ions⁄cm2 and 2.127 x 1016 ions⁄cm2, respectively. The formation of titanium microdroplets upon the surface of the substrates is identified from the micrographs obtained by the scanning electron microscopy technique;furthermore, the presence of titanium and nitrogen implanted on the surface of the substrate is verified through the elemental composition analysis by the energy dispersive spectroscopy, validating the effect of ion implantation on ferrous alloys. © 2021, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.
