Within this survey an approach is presented for the simultaneous online identification and localization of grid disturbances in transmission power systems using different techniques for multivariate time series classification. For the generation of the training data dynamic simulations are performed using DIgSILENT ® PowerFactory combined with a Monte Carlo based initial state selection. Within this survey different classifiers are developed and compared with each other including dynamic time warping, support vector machines, shapelets, recurrent neural networks and random forests. The performance is evaluated in terms of classification accuracy and prediction time.

A frequent starting point of quantum computation platforms are two-state quantum systems, i.e., qubits. However, in the context of integer optimization problems, relevant to scheduling optimization and operations research, it is often more resource-efficient to employ quantum systems with more than two basis states, so-called qudits. Here, we discuss the quantum approximate optimization algorithm (QAOA) for qudit systems. We illustrate how the QAOA can be used to formulate a variety of integer optimization problems such as graph coloring problems or electric vehicle (EV) charging optimization. In addition, we comment on the implementation of constraints and describe three methods to include these into a quantum circuit of a QAOA by penalty contributions to the cost Hamiltonian, conditional gates using ancilla qubits, and a dynamical decoupling strategy. Finally, as a showcase of qudit-based QAOA, we present numerical results for a charging optimization problem mapped onto a max-k-graph coloring problem. For small hybrid ROV's avoiding additional load during their mission is a crucial aspect. Especially if the task is an underwater manipulation for maintenance reasons. Therefore, it is important to choose suitable manipulators and at the same time to enable a variety of tasks for underwater manipulation. This paper presents an approach to use one manipulator with several effectors, which are interchangeable. The approach aims to guarantee an effective time cost operation as well as a universal usage of the manipulator system and at the same time to keep the overall weight at a certain level.

This paper introduces an approach of local voltage anomaly detection in electric power distribution grid using IEC 61850-9-2 LE Sampled Values (SV) as transmission protocol [1]. The approach was implemented and tested in a real-time simulation unit, where a defined distribution grid provides simulated voltage data. An analysis of transmitted samples on a receiver and computation device according to power quality measurements and their limits due to dynamic behaviour is done. The goal of our proposed anomaly detection is in contrast to previous approaches to detect disturbances caused by cyberattacks on ICS components in distribution grids based on an open communication interface. This paper defines the first part of detection at a local node in a defined grid configuration.

The integration of renewable energy generation into gross electricity consumption is a major target of the German government. This target causes a need of more flexibility within the energy market and the related market processes. Therefore new approaches for optimized operating strategies for a reliable electricity supply system have to be developed. The approach of the coordinated market and grid operation (CMGO) which was developed within the venture REGEES (REGenerative rEnewable Electricity system) represents such a new process to harmonize market and system interests. The influence of this approach on the energy market mostly depends on technical, economic and social conditions. These conditions are described by scenarios. This paper focusses on developing a methodology to design scenarios. This methodology is applied to a case study. Within the market model FENIA the influence on the market in terms of the spot market price of the year 2035 is calculated. Based on these prices an optimization model [2] is used to analyse the effect of the CMGO.

The scope of this survey is the phasor based event detection under cyber security constraints in modern transmission control centers. A general concept for a physical and cyber event detection is developed as a combination of state-of-the-art disturbance classification and cyber-attack detection methods. This requires the incorporation of heterogeneous data sources and advanced data fusion and analysis techniques. An enhanced and robust recognition of the current grid situation is proposed to distinguish between different scheduled and unscheduled grid events. Furthermore, Digital Twins are considered as new promising technology for control centers and potential benefits for physical and cyber event detection are described.

Electric vehicles (EV) play a crucial role within the changing global and national energy policies. Thereby the market integration creates more difficulties than the technical feasibility. The controlled charging of EVs offers a possibility to trade at the energy as well as the reserve power market. A few business cases exist by which new actors like i.e. aggregators can obtain revenue. But exact figures of revenues are lacking. Thus general statements of the cost efficiency of EV market integration are missing. This paper analyses the latest development in German energy policy concerning its influence on current and future market conditions. A business model is developed to fit these market conditions. Using a holistic simulation model the revenues of EV integration are calculated depending on the market conditions, the business model as well as the regarded market. The result is the evaluation of the energy markets and shows which market is best suited to forward the electric vehicle integration.

The stability of the electrical infrastructures is challenged by the volatile feed in of renewable energy and non-stationary loads such as electric vehicles (EV). This work presents an approach for controlled charging of private consumers integrated in a control cascade. The approach has been validated by simulation, which bases on mathematical optimization, and furthermore within a field test.

This paper presents the study results of possible plug in electric vehicle (PEV) integration potentials in a commonly occurring rural distribution grid in Germany as a worst case scenario simulation. This worst case consideration means, that all the simulations are running at a fix defined load point at one specific moment in time. After the simulation case definition, like e.g. the so called "strong load case", the different in Germany commonly occurring PEV-classes are connected step by step to the 0,4 kV grid. So it is possible to compute the maximum integrable amount of PEVs (of each class) in dependency on the grid operation risks. As the core method the conventional Monte Carlo approach were used in a self-implemented characteristic.

The increasing use of fluctuating renewable energy represents a challenge for the German electricity market. Electricity storage plants can provide flexibility to the energy system and the development of new, efficient and economical energy storage technologies is of great importance. In this paper, the use of compressed air energy storage plants in the German electricity market is simulated and a sensitivity analysis is carried out. The optimization of the system is done to minimize at each time step the total system costs. The analysis shows the influence of storage plant parameters such as efficiency, storage capacity and natural gas usage on the dispatch and operation hours. It is performed over one year and for three different future scenarios. The results indicate that utilization of storage plants will increase in each scenario considered from 2025 to 2035 but remains in most cases significantly below the maximum capacity of 3000 h/a power generation. While the operation of storage plants lowers the total electricity cost, earnings per plant and profits are not necessarily positive: the wholesale price signals do not create enough revenues to justify the investment in CAES plants. © 2016 IEEE.
