Numerical simulations are typically very compute intensive. A way to satisfy the arising demands for compute power is the employment of grid technology. But today, there exist only few tools, supporting the user in using grids for numerical simulations. Additionally, some basic problems of grid technology, are not solved with satisfaction. The goal of the project OptiNum-Grid was, to address these issues. We present a number of tools that were developed in the project. These are tools for parameter sweeps and optimizations in grids, for data security and automatic software installation, as well as for virtual environments in grids.

SAT-based arithmetic circuit bug-hunting method

E-CNF is hybrid of Boolean formula and mathematic formula. SAT-based arithmetic circuit bug-hunting method translates the verification problem into E-CNF, and solves E-CNF through E-SAT solver, E-SAT solver is an extension of complete SAT solver, with tag clause technique. Experiments show that SAT-based arithmetic bug-hunting method is powerful in finding bugs in arithmetic circuits.

Context: Contemporary software development is typically conducted in dynamic, resource-scarce environments that are prone to the accumulation of technical debt. While this general phenomenon is acknowledged, what remains unknown is how technical debt specifically manifests in and affects software processes, and how the software development techniques employed accommodate or mitigate the presence of this debt. Objectives: We sought to draw on practitioner insights and experiences in order to classify the effects of agile method use on technical debt management, given the popularity and perceived success of agile methods. We explore the breadth of practitioners' knowledge about technical debt;how technical debt is manifested across the software process;and the perceived effects of common agile software development practices and processes on technical debt. In doing so, we address a research gap in technical debt knowledge and provide novel and actionable managerial recommendations. Method: We designed, tested and executed a multi-national survey questionnaire to address our objectives, receiving 184 responses from practitioners in Brazil, Finland, and New Zealand. Results: Our findings indicate that: 1) Practitioners are aware of technical debt, although, there was under utilization of the concept, 2) Technical debt commonly resides in legacy systems, however, concrete instances of technical debt are hard to conceptualize which makes it problematic to manage, 3) Queried agile practices and processes help to reduce technical debt;in particular, techniques that verify and maintain the structure and clarity of implemented artifacts (e.g., Coding standards and Refactoring) positively affect technical debt management. Conclusions: The fact that technical debt instances tend to have characteristics in common means that a systematic approach to its management is feasible. A customer churn analytical model based Bayesian network is built for prediction of customer churn. We propose Bayesian Network approaches to predict churn motivation, mining the result in churn characters in order to help decision-making manager formulate corresponding detainment strategy. Experimental results show that classification performance of both methods is resultful.

This paper presents the summary of the Sclera Segmentation and Joint Recognition Benchmarking Competition (SSRBC 2023) held in conjunction with IEEE International Joint Conference on Biometrics (IJCB 2023). Different from the previous editions of the competition, SSRBC 2023 not only explored the performance of the latest and most advanced sclera segmentation models, but also studied the impact of segmentation quality on recognition performance. Five groups took part in SSRBC 2023 and submitted a total of six segmentation models and one recognition technique for scoring. The submitted solutions included a wide variety of conceptually diverse deep-learning models and were rigorously tested on three publicly available datasets, i.e., MASD, SBVPI and MOBIUS. Most of the segmentation models achieved encouraging segmentation and recognition performance. Most importantly, we observed that better segmentation results always translate into better verification performance.

Digital twins have a major potential to form a significant part of urban management in emergency planning, as they allow more efficient designing of the escape routes, better orientation in exceptional situations, and faster rescue intervention. Nevertheless, creating the twins still remains a largely manual effort, due to a lack of 3D-representations, which are available only in limited amounts for some new buildings. Thus, in this paper we aim to synthesize 3D information from commonly available 2D architectural floor plans. We propose two novel pixel-wise segmentation methods based on the MDA-Unet and MACU-Net architectures with improved skip connections, an attention mechanism, and a training objective together with a reconstruction part of the pipeline, which vectorizes the segmented plans to create a 3D model. The proposed methods are compared with two other state-of-the-art techniques and several benchmark datasets. On the commonly used CubiCasa benchmark dataset, our methods have achieved the mean F1 score of 0.86 over five examined classes, outperforming the other pixel-wise approaches tested. This research study examines the evolving ecosystem of network applications for enhancing connectivity and performance in 5G and beyond (B5G) networks. The objective is to streamline large-scale deployment of vertical applications through a middleware layer, facilitating interactions among network operators and third parties based on varying trust levels. The proposed model addresses the complexity and computational demands of enabling adaptable, secure, and scalable applications for diverse 5G platforms. In particular, this study highlights the 5G-EPICENTRE project, which enables traffic management and dynamic control, especially for missioncritical Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) applications. By optimizing resource allocation, the model reduces computational costs while meeting the unique demands of PPDR services, such as high-quality video and data for emergency operations. The model's effectiveness will be evaluated through experiments leveraging 5G Core (5GC) control-plane capabilities, with a focus on quality of service (QoS) and latency. Practical limitations, including the integration challenges of multi-network APIs, are discussed in the conclusion.

The usage of advanced audio processing algorithms in products has always been limited by the available processing power. For powerful concepts like the wave field synthesis (WFS) the performance is limited by the execution speed. In the past it was possible to increase the performance of digital signal processors by increasing the clock rate. The next generation will be highly parallel heterogeneous multi-processor systems. This paper presents a now parallel processor architecture and the first stops towards an adequate optimization of WFS. A software development environment which assists in creating scalable programs for highly parallel hardware will be further explained. An enhanced WFS convolution structure is presented which use position dependent filtering and improve the interpolation necessary for moving sound sources.

The modeling and simulation community in aviation is in search of standardization in simulation scenario definition. While the System Entity Structure (SES) ontology promises an effective formal means of domain modeling, computational representation is still a key challenge to tackle for fostering wide-acceptance and standardization. This paper presents an eXtended Markup Language (XML) based approach. It first gives the relational specification and the schema definition of the SES ontology. Following a layered modeling workflow, it then presents a schema definition for the simulation scenario definition language and exemplifies its utilization. © 2018, American institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA.
