Currently, large-scale vision and language models has significantly improved the performances of cross-modal retrieval tasks. However, large-scale models require a substantial amount of computing resources, so the execution of these models on devices with limited resources is challenging. Thus, it is paramount to reduce the model size and minimize computing costs of a model without sacrificing its performance. In this paper, we improved TERAN by dividing cross-modal retrieval into two stages: image-text coarse-grained matching and image-text fine-grained matching. Specifically, we present a novel approach called Two-Stage Cross-Modal Retrieval network(TSCMR). To reduce model size after model training, our approach utilized a new knowledge distillation method for Transformer-based models. Experiments have shown that our approach maintains a performance comparable to TERAN on the MS-COCO 1K test set, while being 2x smaller and 3.1x faster on inference. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) service is becoming a cheap new media with good performance. Since 2008 Beijing Olympic Game DAB traffic information broadcasting has being severed at Beijing Radio Station by 1039 channel. Under the framework of project Metrasys (Mega Region Transport System for China) which is funded by the Ministry of German Education and Research, a TPEG based DAB traffic information broadcasting system is built at the city of Hefei by Germany-Sino experts at the beginning of 2010. In the first section of the paper the background of DAB technology was introduced, then the system diagram and its configuration was mentioned in the second section. The unique feature of Hefei DAB system was to adopt the international TPEG standard, in the third section eight classes of traffic information was defined by TPEG. In the fourth section the structure of OBU (On Board Unit) was described briefly. Section described DAB broadcast program flow at Anhui Radio Station and its performance, and finally a conclusion was given.

Matchmaking is the basis of service discovery and composition. Using ontology semantically express the capabilities of services, accurately match, discovery and composition service. Domain ontologies and Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) aim at modeling concepts, the role of FCA in ontology engineering is supporting the critical task of reusing independently developed domain ontologies. Evaluating concept similarity identifies the different concepts that are semantically close. In this paper, using concept and attribute of Web services to construct the ontology. Also, an ontology-based method for assessing similarity between FCA concepts is proposed. Such a method is intended to support the ontology engineer in difficult activities such as ontology merging and ontology mapping in the development of the Semantic Web. © 2010 IEEE.

Some typical memory access patterns are provided and programmed in C, which can be used as benchmark to characterize the various techniques and algorithms aim to improve the performance of NUMA memory access. These access patterns, called MAP-numa (Memory Access Patterns for NUMA), currently include three classes, whose working data sets are corresponding to 1-dimension array, 2-dimension matrix and 3-dimension cube. It is dedicated for NUMA memory access optimization other than measuring the memory bandwidth and latency. MAP-numa is an alternative to those exist benchmarks such as STREAM, pChase, etc. It is used to verify the optimizations' (made automatically/manually to source code/executive binary) capacities by investigating what locality leakage can be remedied. Some experiment results are shown, which give an example of using MAP-numa to evaluate some optimizations based on Oprofile sampling. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2012.

Service discovery is critical for mapping logical resource name to physical resources in large-scale distributed systems. The traditional Domain Name System (DNS) deployed on the Internet, however, suffers from slow-down, vulnerability for denial of service attacks, and does not support fast updates. To address these problems, a novel decentralized service discovery approach based on peer-to-peer approach, but DNS and distributed hash tables not quite perfect together. We explore one such transitional scheme integrating legacy DNS into peer-to-peer service network. Our system introduces DNS elements with slight modifications, at the same time inheriting P2P's fault-tolerance and load balance prosperities. The experimental evaluation shows that proposed scheme achieves higher data availability and provides efficient query with lower latency. © 2011 IEEE.

We welcomed participants to the 1st EurAsian Conference on Advances in Information and Communication technology (EurAsia ICT 2002) held in Iran. The aim of the conference was to serve as a forum to bring together researchers from academia and commercial developers from industry to discuss the current state of the art in ICT, mainly in Europe and Asia. Inspirations and new ideas were expected to emerge from intensive discussions during formal sessions and social events. Keynote addresses, research presentation, and discussion during the conference helped to further develop the exchange of ideas among the researchers, developers, and practitioners who attended. The conference attracted more than 300 submissions and each paper was reviewed by at least three program committee members. The program committee selected 119 papers from authors of 30 different countries for presentation and publication, a task which was not easy due to the high quality of the submitted papers. Eleven workshops were organized in parallel with the EurAsia ICT conference. The proceedings of these workshops, with more than 100 papers, were published by the Austrian computer Society. We would like to express our thanks to our colleagues who helped with putting together the technical program: the program committee members and external reviewers for their timely and rigorous reviews of the papers, and the organizing committee for their help in administrative work and support. We owe special thanks to Thomas Schierer for always being available when his helping hand was needed.

Models in testing are important for describing, understanding, and managing tests. In the automotive domain, AUTOSAR is an important standard to model components of electronic control units. AUTOSAR, however, lacks information about tests or test scenarios. Early testing in the automotive domain is often done by Model-in-the-Loop simulation. Simulations of several components are run in different environments, each. Thus, they need to be connected (co-simulated) for integration testing of these components, e.g., via simulator coupling. This paper is focused on closing the gap between AUTOSAR models and co-simulation-based test scenarios that use simulator coupling. Our main contribution is the definition of a modeling language to describe test environments. The instances of this language can be derived from existing AUTOSAR models and can also be used to automatically generate co-simulation-based test environments. Furthermore, we provide a workflow to integrate this model in the engineering process and an experiment report to demonstrate the applicability and the advantages of the approach.

Critical embedded systems need a dependable operating system and application. Despite all efforts to prevent and remove faults in system development, residual software faults usually persist. Therefore, critical systems need some sort of fault tolerance to deal with these faults and also with hardware faults at operation time. This work proposes fault-tolerant support mechanisms for the BOSS embedded operating system, based on the application of proven fault tolerance strategies by middleware control software which transparently delivers the added functionality to the application software. Special attention is taken to complexity control and resource constraints, targeting the needs of the embedded market

We present an approach to the intelligible communication of formal proofs. Observing a close correspondence between the activities of formal-proof development and program development, and using this as a guideline, we apply well-known principles from program design to proof design and presentation, resuiting in formal proofs presented in a literate style, that are hierarchically structured and emphasize calculation. We illustrate the practicability of this approach by describing its instantiation to the case of the interactive theorem prover Isabelle and by presenting a proof of the Church-Rosser theorem. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 1997.
