A pneumothorax is the accumulation of air in the pleural space between the chest and lungs. Air that is in the lungs during breathing can leak out of the lungs and become trapped between the chest and lungs in the thoracic cavity, causing chest pain, difficulty breathing, and ultimately the complete collapse of the taut lungs. pneumothorax. Therefore, early diagnosis and treatment should be started. Neural networks have proven effective in image classification tasks, and many researchers believe that training neural network models can detect radiologist-diagnosed chest abnormalities such as pneumonia and pneumothorax. is proving. Moreover, we utilize various techniques, including Stochastic Weight Averaging (SWA), aggressive data augmentation, and learning rate schedule. With technological improvements in the restaurant industry, competition is fierce, and a restaurant's success depends on providing excellent and luxury customer satisfaction. The food industry has had to continuously advance with technology in order to adequately satisfy the wants of people leading increasingly luxurious lives. While some restaurants still rely on manpower, the majority are eager to advance with technology in order to improve the standard of their offerings and enhance their customers' experiences. In order to optimize customer satisfaction and experience, this research project intends to investigate the potential of intelligence in the restaurant business. This research has explored intelligent systems such as digital self-service menus for ordering food, augmented reality (AR) visualization systems for customers, the observation of chefs in the kitchen, and the usage of robots to serve meals. This research paper analyzes the advantages of automating restaurant operations and how to do so to enhance customer satisfaction. Overall, this study has the potential to transform the restaurant industry and increase customer satisfaction. © 2023 IEEE.

The landscape of cybersecurity in manufacturing exhibits a dynamic interplay between evolving threats and vulnerabilities against innovative defense mechanisms. With the increasing adoption of smart and cloud-controlled technologies, there is a growing emphasis on securing manufacturing systems from cyberattacks. Future trends indicate a shift toward implementing more advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning for threat identification, attack detection, and response. In addition, the adoption of secure-by-design principles in product development and the integration of blockchain technology for ensuring the integrity of supply chain data are expected to become more prevalent. As manufacturers continue to digitize and connect their operations, collaboration between industry stakeholders, government agencies, and cybersecurity experts will be crucial in developing robust defense strategies against evolving security threats. This Special Issue provided a platform for the research advancing understanding of and addressing these threats. The article by Rahman et al., “Taxonomy-Driven Graph-Theoretic Framework for Manufacturing Cybersecurity Risk Modeling and Assessment,” presents a taxonomy-driven graph-theoretic model and framework to represent the threat landscape of cybersecurity and identify vulnerable manufacturing assets. The model and framework contain three techniques to address identified research challenges. First, the proposed framework characterizes threat actors' techniques, tactics, and procedures using taxonomical classifications of manufacturing-specific threat attributes and integrates these attributes into cybersecurity risk modeling. Second, using the attack graph formalism, the proposed framework enables concurrent modeling and analysis of a wide variety of cybersecurity threats comprising varying attack vectors, locations, vulnerabilities, and consequences. Biometric technologies have been widely adopted in various commercial products, ranging from security systems to personal devices, due to their exceptional reliability and user-friendliness. Among these, palmprint biometrics has gained increasing attention for its advantages, such as ease of use, a larger surface area, and the ability to capture more features compared to other biometric methods. A typical palmprint biometric system involves five key stages: (a) Image Acquisition, (b) Hand Segmentation, (c) Pattern Generation, (d) Feature Extraction, and (e) Verification/Identification. The overall success of the system depends on the effectiveness of each stage, with hand segmentation being crucial for identifying the most relevant features for accurate verification. This study aims to achieve high-accuracy biometric recognition by segmenting hands from images captured in uncontrolled environments with complex backgrounds. Accuracy (ACC), Intersection over Union (IoU), F1-Score, and Dice Coefficient are the four critical metrics used to assess the performance of segmentation techniques. The findings demonstrate that the U-Net + ViT and MA-Net + ResNet34 techniques outperform traditional auto-encoder methods in both quantitative performance metrics and visual analysis, leading to significantly improved hand segmentation for biometric systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Human emotions, psychology, and social well-being are all parts of mental health. It has an impact on how people feel, think, and act. It aids in figuring out how individuals act under pressure, interact with each other, and arrive at decisions. Every period of life, from childhood and adolescence to maturity, is vital for mental health. There are several elements that affect mental health issues, such as experiences with trauma or abuse in life, work-life stress, relationship difficulties, etc. Help is available for many of the mental health issues that are identified within a person. The proposed solution is implementing a friendly chatbot that is capable of capturing human emotional states (happy, angry, sad, etc.) and mental health states (depression, anxiety, stress, etc.) using human computer interaction and health record management. The proposed solution has been developed by considering both regular users and mental health practitioners. The user can communicate with the proposed assistant using text or voice to identify their emotions and mental health based on keywords, particular characteristics of voice and facial recognition used during the conversation. Once the mental health and emotion statuses are analyzed the electronic health records will be readily available on the blockchain as blockchain tokens, this could be shared with the practitioners securely. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a novel hardening technique against Single Event Effects, which enables high-frequency operation and does not cause large power consumption and area overhead. The protection is based on redundancy, separation of the pipeline into two main sections, and is fully applicable at Register Transfer Level. It provides fast detection of faults, simple recovery by a flush of the pipeline, and allows a large prediction unit to be unprotected. We present the protection scheme at the core with the RISC-V instruction set. Simulations confirm that the protection can handle the injected faults. Synthesis shows that protection lowers the maximum frequency by only 3.9%. The area increase is only 108% and can be even lower. Total power consumption increased by 119%. © 2023 IEEE.

In the era of Industry 4.0, data is becoming increasingly vital for future manufacturing and digital twin applications. Currently, primarily asset-created data is utilized, while the potential benefits of incorporating external data from connected production systems remain untapped. This underutilization is largely due to the complex and time-consuming nature of integrating external data. Automating this process could significantly improve efficiency and unlock valuable insights for more effective decision-making. In this paper, we present the requirements for a system aimed at automating the integration of external data, considering factors such as data heterogeneity and the need to support diverse communication protocols. We further introduce an assistant system that facilitates this automated integration, enhancing manufacturing processes and digital twin applications. Furthermore, we provide a prototypical implementation of the assistant system in the context of a collaborative robot utilizing information from its surroundings obtained through external camera and LiDAR imaging. By addressing the challenges of external data integration, this research contributes to the advancement of data-driven manufacturing and the optimization of digital twin technologies. © 2023 IEEE.

The extraction of process knowledge and its use for modeling and subsequent analysis is a very valuable approach to optimizing processes. Process Mining (PM) methods are widely used knowledge extraction techniques based on process knowledge recorded in event logs. One shortcoming is that PM approaches cannot easily access data in non-event log format, and secondly, that models are generated using directly-follows relations, which in the case of processes with concurrent activities means that process transitions may not be modeled correctly, and the resulting models do not correspond to reality as well as being unnecessarily complex. In addition, increasing digitization in manufacturing enables an ever greater collection of various data sources throughout the process with varying levels of information. Besides PM, in recent years great progress has been made in learning causal structures via causal discovery (CD) as well as in explicitly using additional expert knowledge. We argue that CD and expert knowledge are valuable additions to existing PM based approaches, as they allow knowledge extraction and modeling on different process levels. To combine these levels of information, this paper uses a manufacturing use case to show heterogeneous data sources and expert knowledge are used to create hybrid models. The results show that the combination of data-driven modeling methods with expert knowledge help to compensate for the weaknesses of the individual methods and achieve better overall results. © 2024 The Authors.

The automation of processes in greenhouses provides a significant advantage to the agricultural sector. Due to the rapid growth of the population, increasing demand for food and labor shortage make the autonomous monitoring and management of agricultural work more important. Capsicum is a largely consumed vegetable in South Asia, which can be efficiently grown in greenhouses. Although there are many capsicum farms, they lack quality and efficient production to match the increasing demand. This paper proposes a robotic system for use in capsicum greenhouses that can navigate and monitor the plants to identify diseases, track the yield, and take remediation actions. The robot navigates to each plant in the greenhouse autonomously by using the SLAM approach with the use of laser range sensor data. The 4 DoF robotic arm of the robot has a camera and a sprayer attached to its end to investigate plants and spray remedies to diseased plants. The robotic arm moves around the plant to capture the images to detect deceases and count the pods to estimate the yield. The sprayer of the robot sprays remedies precisely to targeted plants to control pests and diseases. The system was successfully implemented and tested with the proposed functions. © 2023 IEEE.

Industrial automation is driven by trends such as autonomy, intelligence and networking. Increasing energy demands, scarce resources and shorter product lifecycles pose challenges to production systems such as interoperability, flexibility and extensibility. The concept of the Digital Twin, acting as a virtual representation of a production system, can address these challenges. This paper presents a concept that realizes a dynamic production scheduling as partial function of the Digital Twin using the Asset Administration Shell and a service-oriented architecture. The authors specifically address automated asset production scheduling and propose an MQTT broker with a Functionality Dictionary server. Through the Asset Administration Shell interface, the proposed production scheduler communicates with the proposed product calendar to generate a specialized production schedule for each product. The evaluation scenario in a cyber-physical laboratory shows the advantages of this concept. © 2023 IEEE.
