Smart cities need high-quality data products in order to shape societal challenges such as the transformation of transportation and mobility. Trusted Data intermediary concepts are an important tool for enabling the sharing of data via standardized interfaces and ensuring trust and data quality. The ecosystem of a smart city comprises numerous organizations and extends far beyond the city's own boundaries, especially with regard to data products. Based on related work, this paper elaborates key terms of a data intermediary ecosystem concept that is planned to be applied at the interface between smart city and mobility on the one hand, and between municipalities and their municipal companies, science and industry on the other. The nucleus for this eco-system is the Klingenstadt Solingen in Germany that serves as a case study to explore ecosystem data governance concepts. © MCCSIS *** rights reserved.

The basis for developing future products in the automotive industry is finding creative and innovative solutions. Ideas can be found by means of creativity methods that support product developers throughout the creative process. Product developers are provided with a variety of different and new methods. This leads to a method jungle in which it is difficult for product developers to find the most suitable path. The successful use of methods in product development goes hand in hand with the acceptance and implementation of the methods. Despite the added value, only a low use is observed in the development process. The field of Creativity Support Tools also offers a wide variety of different tools that support the creativity process. Although a chasm exists between the many CSTs that are developed and what creative practitioners actually use. Therefore, previous studies iteratively developed a user-centered tool called IDEA that tries to provide a tool that responds to users' needs. The question arises how the developed tool IDEA performs in real life setting regarding its UX and usability as well as the creativity method acceptance and level of mental workload. © The Author(s), 2023. Increasing bus frequency to fulfill the performance requirements of dependable applications may increase the susceptibility of the system to transient faults. This paper describes an integration of protection against transient bus faults into the interface of the Hardisc RISC-V core. The protection is based on information redundancy with spatial redundancy features. It enables uninterrupted execution in the presence of transient faults and provides a hardware-software interface for its reporting. The benchmarking results indicate that most of the applications will be impacted minimally. The protection has a negligible impact on the maximal frequency and 8% area and power consumption overhead.

5G New Radio (NR) is the de facto global standard for 5G mobile networks. 5G NR was developed by 3GPP and designed to provide new kinds of mobile services across very large geographical areas. One of the main challenges that evolutions of 5G NR must face is the limited radio frequency resources that are available for Beyond-5G mobile connectivity. Optical wireless bands have been already considered for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) technologies, where they are denoted as Light Fidelity (Li-Fi). However, and in order to make optical wireless an integral part of Beyond 5G mobile standards, it is convenient to first assess the performance that is feasible when an actual 5G NR waveform is transmitted over an optical wireless frequency band. This paper presents the first experimental proof-of-concept for the transmission of a 5G NR frame over an LED-based optical wireless link. The obtained results are very motivating, as the 5G NR data rates that would be feasible over optical wireless links are very similar to the ones observed nowadays over the n78 RF band (centered around 3.5 GHz, with 100 MHz bandwidth). However, the most important difference is that the spectrum of the optical wireless signal will be reusable in very small cells of radius not larger than few meters, with the possibility of deploying many remote optical units for ultra-densification in indoor service areas without notable inter-cell interference.

Safety/mission-critical applications require high dependability of the control systems. Their state-of-the-art protection approach is a system-level lockstep. This paper compares the system-level dual and triple lockstep technique to the microarchitecture-level protection of the Hardisc RISC-V core. For a fair comparison, each system is based on the same core(s) and integrates protection against bit-flips in memory and transient faults in the bus. We propose a fault injection methodology, combining pre-synthesis simulation with synthesis data to analyse the vulnerability of a system to faults. The fault injection campaigns show that the Hardisc can withstand fault rates orders of magnitude higher than the dual-core lockstep system while preserving the same area and power consumption. It comes with a 5% frequency penalty. We have shown that system failures are more frequent once the fault rate reaches an application-specific threshold (one fault in 100 clock cycles).

Mission/safety-critical applications rely on the dependability of their semiconductor control systems. The lockstepping is state-of-the-art when it comes to their protection. This paper compares the dual/triple lockstep systems with the Hardisc, which features microarchitecture-level protection. For a fair comparison, each system is based on the same architecture and integrates protection against bit-flips in memory and transient faults in the bus. We analyse how individual structures of the system affect the vulnerability of a system to faults. Our fault injection methodology combines pre-synthesis simulation with synthesis data to scale the fault rate of the structures according to their size. The results show that the Hardisc can withstand fault rates orders of magnitude higher than the dual-core lockstep system while preserving the same area and power consumption. It comes with a 5% frequency penalty. The pipeline logic has the most significant impact on the vulnerability of the lockstep system. On the other hand, the ECC-protected register file constraints the maximum failure rate the Hardisc can withstand due to fault accumulation during specific program sections.

Graphical user interfaces (GUIs) are at the heart of almost every software we encounter. GUIs are often created through a collaborative effort involving UX designers, product owners, and software developers, constantly facing changing requirements. Historically, problems in GUI development include a fragmented, poorly integrated tool landscape and high synchronization efforts between stakeholders. Recent approaches suggest using large language models (LLMs) to recognize requirements fulfillment in GUIs and automatically propose new GUI components. Based on ten interviews with practitioners, this paper proposes an LLM-based assistant as a Figma plug-in that bridges the gap between user stories and GUI prototyping. We evaluated the prototype with 40 users and 40 crowd-workers, showing that the effectiveness of GUI creation is improved by using LLMs to detect requirements' completion and generate new GUI components. We derive design rationales to support cross-functional integration in software development, ensuring that our plug-in integrates well into established processes. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Lung segmentation supports essential functionality within the realm of computer-aided detection and diagnosis using chest radiographs. In this research, we present a novel bifurcation approach of segmenting the lungs by separating them down the spinal column and having separate networks for the right and the left lungs respectively. Results from the right lung and left lung networks are then merged to form the overall lung. We utilize DeepLabV3+ network with ResNet50 as the backbone for both left and right lung networks. Results are presented for publicly available datasets such as Shenzhen Dataset and Japanese Society of Radiological Technology (JSRT) dataset. Our proposed bifurcation approach achieved an overall accuracy of 98.8% and an IoU (Intersection over Union) of 0.977 for a set of 100 cases in Shenzhen dataset. We conducted an additional robustness study of this method by training and testing on an independent dataset utilizing a hold-out methodology. We utilize a private dataset for the training and testing occurs on an independent JSRT dataset comprising 140 cases and our algorithm achieved an overall IoU of 0.945 thereby demonstrating its efficacy against other whole lung models and setting a new benchmark for future research works. © 2024 SPIE.

In practice, extended Kalman filter (EKF) is one of the most popular lithium-ion battery (LIB) state of charge (SOC) estimation algorithms in electric vehicles onboard battery management system (BMS). With the increasing necessity of off-loading the computational burden and data storage capacity of onboard BMS, the application of battery digital twin and cloud-BMS are getting popularity. Therefore, to assess the performance of EKF in terms of accuracy, the computational time, and overall request and execution time, an EKF-based SOC estimation method is developed in the cloud platform of Amazon Web Services (AWS). For a specific battery test data set, the cloud-based EKF demonstrated a mean absolute error of 0.00226 and a request time of 0.028s that are highly satisfactory towards developing a digital twin enabled cloud-based BMS. © 2023 IEEE.

Currently, the search for malicious code in information systems is relevant. The analysis showed that existing static analyzers detect vulnerabilities in the code, but not malicious code, as a result of which it was decided to create a new static analyzer with zero false positives, which will not only search for malicious code, but also indicate its location. A formalized representation of the task of detecting malicious code based on static analysis using set theory based on the introduction of a function that matches each element with a maliciousness factor is proposed. A technique for detecting malicious code in the source code based on lexical, semantic and static analysis has been developed. An experimental study has shown that the accuracy of detecting malicious code has increased by three percent, and the F1 measure - by five percent, compared to the best similar tool, which indicates a more effective performance of the task of detecting malicious code by the developed algorithm compared to analogs.
