This paper describes an object-oriented model and a reuse-oriented methodology for the codesign of embedded computing systems. Our approach has been founded on a hierarchy of classes which describes all possible specifications of systems of a certain domain, the behavior of hard- and software-components, and the target-architectures. The content of this knowledge base (re-usable, formalized descriptions) is determined by the analysis of known systems. We present solutions for a specification methodology, the modeling of heterogeneous systems by task graphs, and the mapping process from specified requirements down to hard- or software components in a target architecture. The approach is illustrated by functions of the domain of robot controls.

The well-tried method of fuzzy classification is extended to hierarchical class structures to allow combinations of data-based and rule-based class representations. An appropriate design method is suggested, the relationships to system theory and fuzzy logic are shown and software features and application examples are described. The main application fields are diagnostics and supervision of technical processes. Model design is based on disjunctive aggregation of atomic classes, obtained by fuzzification of vectors in the feature space (learning samples). Membership functions of all fuzzy sets are described by an uniform multidimensional parametric concept. Rule-based components are an appropriate formal tool to represent multimodal class models and to integrate explicit expert knowledge. Class models can be seen as components of several types of systems (e.g. fuzzy controller) which transform measured data into discrete fuzzy sets. For this reason the initiation of further development of new fuzzy methods is expected. Two application cases with use of a class structure and its effect are studied.
With modern multipoint drawing equipment, it is possible to control the draw pins independently of each other. This gives the possibility to specifically change the normal force distribution between blankholder and wo...
Digital speckle pattern interferometry is used to investigate the vibration behaviour of silicon micromembranes. Mode shapes have been mapped up to the 20th natural frequency for squared membranes with millimeter and ...

This open access book presents a good overview of the current research landscape of assembly, handling and industrial robotics.
The objective of MHI Colloquium is the successful networking at both academic and management levels. Thereby, the colloquium focuses an academic exchange at a high level in order to distribute the obtained research results, to determine synergy effects and trends, to connect the actors in person and in conclusion, to strengthen the research field as well as the MHI community. In addition, there is the possibility to become acquainted with the organizing institute. Primary audience is formed by members of the scientific society for assembly, handling and industrial robotics (WGMHI).
