Integrating Tangible User Interfaces (TUIs) in Virtual Environments is a promising approach to overcome the rigidity of Tangible User Interfaces (TUI) and to ease Virtual Reality (VR) interaction techniques. Advantages and problems of the integration are being described, especially occlusion, focal displacement and shifting.

Today more and more essential processes are conducted across enterprise borders, inducing additional challenges in terms of different languages, process types and ontology. Business process modelling (BPM) and Simulation are well-understood methods to analyze and optimize the processes within an enterprise. However, they can also be used for cross-organizational application, especially if they are combined with reference structures. This paper explains techniques which support cross-enterprise design and configuration based on Reference Models. Thereby, different approaches such as SCOR, the integrated enterprise modelling (IEM) and a specific distributed simulation method are used and integrated into a consistent reference model approach. The application of this approach is illustrated with different projects which each focus on a specific aspect of the supply chain design and configuration
The attempt to improve mechatronic design processes is hindered by their complexity. The process complexity is mainly caused by an extensive process modularity and by the interdependencies of heterogeneous distributed...

Generative technologies permit today the processing of a wide variety of materials. In the manufacture of functional prototypes, the limits of these technologies are however soon exhausted with the result that compromises need to be accepted. In order to meet the increasing demand of the industry, a new material, technology and machine concept was developed based on printing technology. Compared to standard generative systems where only one material per build process is usable this new technology allows generating parts of different mechanical properties in a wide range. This development enables the production of fully graduated material properties in one step.

Due to a dramatic increase of the complexity of technical facilities, supervision, diagnostics, and control tasks are becoming more and more the subject of formal modeling and simulation. Formal approaches use algebraic systems as the formal basis for modeling and model calculus. The use of heterogeneous modeling structures means, that different algebraic systems may be involved. Given this, interaction of the algebraic systems within a model calculus must be considered. This paper is devoted to algebra-based modeling for technical networks. The focus of the paper is on use of process algebra and network algebra systems in a common context, e.g. for the resource management task. The technique developed in this study has been used for modeling and supervision related to water, oil, gas, and electrical power distribution networks.

In this paper, diamond micro mills produced with different manufacturing techniques are compared. The tools differ in the basic design as well as in orientation, conditioning, shape and fixation of the diamonds. Thus different properties such as machining behavior and stability are to observe. Results are shown regarding the reproducibility of the cutting edge geometry, the dynamic behavior, and the operating behavior of end mills with a diameter of 250 ?m and a cutting length of 500 ?m. Cracks on the cutting edge as well as the formation of built-up edges are defined as critical wear criteria. Representative test structures from the field of micro optics using OFHC-copper as test material are manufactured.
