This paper introduces a toolbox for generating virtual trajectories, which we call VT-tools v1.0, to address challenges in analyzing large but imperfect trajectory datasets. VT-tools v1.0 is able to generate virtual trajectories from large raw datasets that are typically challenging to process due to their size. We also provide a set of these virtual trajectories resulting from I–24 MOTION INCEPTION v1.0 data and demonstrate the practical utility of these trajectories in as-sessing speed variability and travel times across different lanes within the INCEPTION dataset. The virtual trajectory toolbox opens future research on traffic waves and their impact on energy. The VT-tools v1.0 Python implementation and sample data are publicly available at https://***.

Runtime Safety Assurance of Autonomous Vehicles used for Last-mile Delivery in Urban Environments

Last-mile delivery of goods has gained a lot of attraction during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, current package delivery processes often lead to parking in the second lane, which in turn has negative effects on the urban environment in which the deliveries take place, i.e., traffic congestion and safety issues for other road users. To tackle these challenges, an effective autonomous delivery system is required that guarantees efficient, flexible and safe delivery of goods. The project LogiSmile, co-funded by EIT Urban Mobility, pilots an autonomous delivery vehicle dubbed the Autonomous Hub Vehicle (AHV) that works in cooperation with a small autonomous robot called the Autonomous Delivery Device (ADD). With the two cooperating robots, the project LogiSmile aims to find a possible solution to the challenges of urban goods distribution in congested areas and to demonstrate the future of urban mobility. As a member of Niedersächsische Forschungszentrum für Fahrzeugtechnik (NFF), the institute for software and systems engineering (ISSE) developed an integrated software safety architecture for runtime monitoring of the AHV, with (1) a dependability cage (DC) used for the on-board monitoring of the AHV, and (2) a remote command control center (CCC) which enables the remote off-board supervision of a fleet of AHVs. The DC supervises the vehicle continuously and in case of any safety violation, it switches the nominal driving mode to degraded driving mode or fail-safe mode. Additionally, the CCC also manages the communication of the AHV with the ADD and provides fail-operational solutions for the AHV when it cannot handle complex situations autonomously. The runtime monitoring concept developed for the AHV has been demonstrated in 2022 in Hamburg. We report on the obtained results and on the lessons learned. © 2023, CC BY.

A network intrusion detection system (NIDS) is a crucial component of a robust cybersecurity strategy. Its primary purpose is to continuously monitor network traffic and detect suspicious or malicious activity that could be indicative of a cyberattack or unauthorized network access. The effectiveness of NIDS depends heavily on the techniques we use to boost the classification accuracy of intrusion and minimize the computational difficulty while performing training and testing. The high volume of network traffic combined with its large number of features will increase the classification time. With the recent emergence of deep learning techniques, scientists have shown interest in learning dataset features, followed by the classification of intrusions. This study offers a novel method for extracting high-dimensional features from input data by employing a stacked sparse autoencoder. Simple machine learning models are then built using the remaining low-dimensionality features. Simulations were conducted, and the efficacy of binary and multiclass classifications was verified. The proposed method exceeds most of the other existing approaches in terms of performance. © 2023 IEEE.

We present AircraftVerse, a publicly available aerial vehicle design dataset. Aircraft design encompasses different physics domains and, hence, multiple modalities of representation. The evaluation of these cyber-physical system (CPS) designs requires the use of scientific analytical and simulation models ranging from computer-aided design tools for structural and manufacturing analysis, computational fluid dynamics tools for drag and lift computation, battery models for energy estimation, and simulation models for flight control and dynamics. AircraftVerse contains 27, 714 diverse air vehicle designs - the largest corpus of engineering designs with this level of complexity. Each design comprises the following artifacts: a symbolic design tree describing topology, propulsion subsystem, battery subsystem, and other design details;a STandard for the Exchange of Product (STEP) model data;a 3D CAD design using a stereolithography (STL) file format;a 3D point cloud for the shape of the design;and evaluation results from high fidelity state-of-the-art physics models that characterize performance metrics such as maximum flight distance and hover-time. We also present baseline surrogate models that use different modalities of design representation to predict design performance metrics, which we provide as part of our dataset release. Finally, we discuss the potential impact of this dataset on the use of learning in aircraft design and, more generally, in CPS. AircraftVerse is accompanied by a data card, and it is released under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) license. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been used to study the structural makeup of the brain and analyse several neurological disorders and diseased areas. For the adoption of preventative measures, early recognition of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients is essential. Here, a thorough inspection of the tissue arrangements obtained by MRI images of Outcome and Assessment Information (OASIS) dataset enables an exact characterization of certain brain diseases. There have been a number of division techniques for diagnosing AD that range in complexity. Compassion has been tested by deep learning techniques used to segment the structure of the brain and classify AD because they have the potential to uncover important information from vast amounts of data. In this paper the deep learning technique of Hybrid Dragonfly based GWO convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is achieved promising result for the diagnosis of AD. At image preprocessing wiener filter is used for removing the additive noises and the Gray Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) extraction is implemented for texture analyzing. As a result, hybrid deep learning methods of CNN has the accuracy as 90% and the result of the image prediction are presented in this paper. © 2023 IEEE.

Sorting and searching are critical processes for effecttive data analysis. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of various sorting and searching algorithms and compare their time and space complexities on both sorted and unsorted data. The algorithms we analyzed include six common sorting algorithms (insertion, radix, bucket, merge, bubble, and quick sort) and three search algorithms (linear, binary, and jump search). The results of our study provide insights into the best algorithms to use for different input sizes and types of data. It was found that for small input sizes, all algorithms perform similarly, but for larger input sizes, insertion and radix sorts are better for time complexity while bubble sort is better for space complexity. Additionally, jump search outperformed linear and binary search algorithms in both time and space complexity. Besides, difference between time and space complexity of sorted and unsorted data was significant. © 2023 IEEE.

A popular biometric identification method, renowned for its dependability and individuality in personal identification, is fingerprint recognition. This article presents an efficient fingerprint identification system that significantly reduces processing times for 100,000 fingerprints from 8 minutes to less than 5 seconds by utilizing multithreading, ANSI 378 templates, and Source AFIS. The system overcomes the time-consuming image-to-template conversion procedure and increases overall storage efficiency by utilizing parallel processing and preformatted templates (ANSI/ISO). The fingerprint matching system incorporates Directional Field, CNN models for identifying fingerprint types, and Finger Code methods to classify fingerprints, improving precision and efficiency.

Model transformation languages are special-purpose languages, which are designed to define transformations as comfortably as possible, i.e., often in a declarative way. Typically, developers create their transformations based on small input models which systematically cover the language of the input models. This makes it difficult for the developers to estimate how the transformations would perform for a large and diverse set of input models. Hence, developers would benefit from an approach for predicting the performance of model transformations based on just abstract characteristics of input models. Regression approaches based on machine learning lend themselves well to such predictions. However, it is currently unknown, whether and which regression approach is suitable in this context as well as how a model should be abstractly characterized for this purpose. We conducted several experiments to analyze how well different machine learning methods predict the execution time of model transformations defined in the Atlas Transformation Language (ATL) transformations for distinct sets of model characteristics. As possible methods, we have investigated linear regression, random forests and support vector regression using a radial basis function kernel. The results of our experiments show that support vector regression is the best choice in terms of usability and prediction accuracy for the model transformation modules covered in our experiments and is thus suited for a prediction approach. In addition, simple model characterizations based only on the number of model elements, the number of references, and the number of attributes are a suitable way to easily describe a model and to achieve decent prediction accuracy. © 2023 Owner/Author.
