The design and operation of computer systems has traditionally been driven by technical aspects and considerations. However, the usage characteristics of information and communication systems are both implicitly and explicitly determined by social interaction and the social graph of users. The SASOST workshop addresses all aspects of self-adaptive and self-organising mechanisms in socio-technical systems, covering different perspectives of this exciting research area ranging from normative and trust management systems to socio-inspired design strategies for distributed algorithms, collaboration platforms and communication protocols.

Ongoing problems in healthcare supply make it imperative to establish telemedicine as a feasible concept to ensure the quality of medical treatments and reduce costs. With TiEE, the Telemedical ILOG Event Engine, fraunhoferisst fosters the research to process streams of vital signs in telemedical scenarios using Complex Event Processing (CEP) in an Information Logistics (ILOG) manner. ILOG means to reduce the amount of information by preprocessing existing data and to route high-grade decision at the right time to the right person. As basic building blocks we developed the concepts of telemedical events (TE), Telemedical ILOG Listener (TIL) and TIL-Profiles on top of the event processing engine Esper [20-23]. TiEE analyzes the incoming patient specific streams of telemedical events and tries to detect relevant trend patterns. In a second step these got aggregated to higher level decisions.

Current logistic IT systems tend to be monolithic applications with low flexibility and low awareness of interoperability. Modern IT trends like Service Oriented Architectures and Cloud Computing are key factors to provide convenient access to customized IT-Services on demand and as a service. Hence, the idea of the concept Logistics as a Service is to provide domain specific IT services to support the planning and operations in supply chains which are supported by infrastructural technologies. In this paper, the general concepts behind Logistics as a Service as well as exemplary IT services are presented and proven to be applicable by demonstration of several use cases. In this paper we describe our methodology for building context-aware applications. It supports a systematic definition, conception and development of the context-aware features of an application along the different phases of a software development process. Its application has helped us in the discussion and conception of these features in project teams with non-technical domain experts. A context meta-model defines the common concepts and features of concrete context models, which are used in the transition between the different development phases. This context meta-model has been implemented in our context server MILEO. Thus it allows a model-based realization of an application's context logic without explicit programming. We describe how we have applied our methodology in the project `Daily Care Journal'.
