Traditional data monetization approaches face challenges related to data protection and logistics. In response, digital data marketplaces have emerged as intermediaries simplifying data transactions. Despite the growing establishment and acceptance of digital data marketplaces, significant challenges hinder efficient data trading. As a result, few companies can derive tangible value from their data, leading to missed opportunities in understanding customers, pricing decisions, and fraud prevention. In this paper, we explore both technical and organizational challenges affecting data monetization. Moreover, we identify areas in need of further research, aiming to expand the boundaries of current knowledge by emphasizing where research is currently limited or lacking.

In "Evaluation Methods and Replicability of software Architecture Research" [1], we present a systematic literature review to assess the state-of-practice of evaluating software architecture research objects and providing replication artifacts in 153 full technical conference papers published at the International and European Conference on software Architecture (ICSA respectively ECSA) from 2017 to 2021.

Sustainability is a challenge for society that circular economy tries to tackle. The metaverse, as an emerging technology that incorporates digital twins and simulation in an immersive virtual environment, has not been thoroughly investigated in connection to circular economy. Thus, the purpose of this study is to summarize the potentials and barriers of the use of the metaverse for circular economy. By conducting a structured literature review, this paper categorizes the findings into dimensions that are important for both the metaverse and circular economy. A variety of potentials and barriers that cover different perspectives important for businesses aiming to comply with circular economy principles is discovered. The findings include potentials and barriers in several areas, like the access to the metaverse, connected costs, data, knowledge transfer, collaboration, innovation, product design, production planning, training of employees, and transportation. The results can be used to promote the implementation of circular economy principles.

Society and politics are increasingly demanding a shift to more sustainable behavior, especially from manufacturing companies. This can be a major challenge as they face technological, regulatory, economic, supply chain, and cultural hurdles when transitioning to more sustainable practices. However, data spaces offer new ways to sharing data can help to accurately calculate CO2 emissions and develop new business models based on it. To illustrate the impact of data spaces on sustainability we considered the example of the product carbon footprint. Doing so, we analyzed public data of the automotive network Catena-X and highlighted the added value for each actor in the ecosystem using the e3value modeling language. Supplementary, we transferred our findings into business model elements (value proposition, value creation and delivery, and value capture). © 2024 Gesellschaft fur Informatik (GI). Towards Tolerating Soft Errors for Embedded systems

Exponential growth in the number of transistors for each chip along with increasing clock frequencies and operational voltages and decreasing load capacitance are aggravating the possibility of occurrence of soft errors in embedded systems. Transistors on current chips have components separated by only a few hundred atoms;hence, a small voltage glitch can alter the state of the transistor, thus causing soft errors in the systems. The impact will be a matter of great concern when the line widths will shrink further. These complicated linkages among the components in chips directly affect the reliability of embedded systems and cause them to be sensitive to soft errors. The common approach to address such errors is focused on post-design phases that are complex and costly to implement. However, reliability, which is a vital non-functional attribute of a system, should be validated at the design phase, particularly for critical systems. This paper proposes an efficient approach to measure and minimize the potential threats of soft errors for embedded systems in the early design phase of system-level design. Smart cities need high-quality data products in order to shape societal challenges such as the transformation of transportation and mobility. Trusted Data intermediary concepts are an important tool for enabling the sharing of data via standardized interfaces and ensuring trust and data quality. The ecosystem of a smart city comprises numerous organizations and extends far beyond the city's own boundaries, especially with regard to data products. Based on related work, this paper elaborates key terms of a data intermediary ecosystem concept that is planned to be applied at the interface between smart city and mobility on the one hand, and between municipalities and their municipal companies, science and industry on the other. The nucleus for this eco-system is the Klingenstadt Solingen in Germany that serves as a case study to explore ecosystem data governance concepts. © MCCSIS *** rights reserved.

This research study examines the applications of the industrial metaverse in supply chain management. Thus, it reviews and analyzes the up-to-date knowledge along the Supply Chain Operations Reference Model. Therefore, a structured literature review is conducted. We derive six core functionalities of the industrial metaverse in supply chains: visibility and monitoring, prediction, simulation, collaboration, training, and optimization. Furthermore, their presence along the different phases of a supply chain is investigated. Besides the functionalities, the relationship between the industrial metaverse and simulation applications and digital twins is analyzed, and a brief description of possible metaverse architectures is provided. This study additionally derives research gaps within the emerging field of metaverse applications and research and defines paths to tackle them.

Digital Twins (DTs) play a crucial role in the fourth industrial revolution. In the context of discrete material flow systems, companies under constant competitive pressure seek solutions to minimize costs and maximize performance. Simulation-based DTs can help make optimal decisions in the design, planning, and control of these systems. Such DTs are until now created and updated by domain experts producing costs and are often not considering the advances made in machine learning to improve prediction quality. Learning DTs out of data could be the solution for a broader application. A lot of work has already been done that contributes to this endeavor, yet relevant building blocks originate from different scientific areas resulting in the use of different terminology. Thus we present a holistic review of relevant work and analyze the state of the art based on a new classification scheme deriving relevant building blocks and gaps for future research.

The aim of this online-survey study is the development and evaluation of a mobile health application specifically designed to meet the needs of individuals who have previously undergone intensive-care treatment. User acceptance and perception play a crucial role in refining and optimizing the app's features and functionalities. By actively incorporating suggestions and insights from users, the goal is to enhance the overall usability and better cater to the diverse needs of individuals in post-intensive care recovery. This iterative approach ensures that the application remains responsive to the evolving requirements of its target audience. Overall, the emphasis is on creating a user-centric and adaptive tool for former intensive care patients, to develop a user-friendly mobile app. © 2024 The Authors.

The term ecosystem experiences a peak in academic attention, however, its usage varies as well as its application in certain industries. In the world of logistics, the usage of the term ecosystem is not common within academia. Hence, a systematic literature review has been performed by scanning 146 studies out of an original dataset of 2264 results. This systematic literature review has got the goal to create a methodological overview of the term ecosystem, create types of ecosystems, and merge them with similar studies out of the supply chain management research area.
