Failure-Tolerant Synchronous and Self-Timed Circuits Comparison

Abstract: The article considers the problem of developing synchronous and self-timed (ST) digital circuits tolerant to soft errors. Synchronous circuits traditionally use the "2-of-3" voting principle to ensure a single failure, resulting in three times the hardware costs. Due to dual-rail signal coding and two-phase control in ST circuits, duplication provides a soft error tolerance level 2.1 to 3.5 times higher than the triple modular redundant synchronous counterpart. The development of new high-precision software simulating microelectronic failure mechanisms will provide more accurate estimates for the electronic circuits’ failure tolerance. © 2022, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

With the pervasive integration of artificial intelligence into all aspects of human life, talent emerges as a primary resource. Upon analysing the current state of talent training in higher education institutions, issues such as dispersed knowledge points, overlapping content, a singular practice approach and ineffective evaluation have been identified. In response to these challenges, this paper proposes a multidisciplinary and comprehensive practical teaching methodology grounded in the knowledge graph framework. It delves into diverse paths for practical teaching and assessment, including aspects like teaching objectives, problem decomposition, resource integration, implementation methods and performance evaluation. The practical application of the SSD algorithm in researching service robot indoor object detection serves as an illustrative example. Employing the holistic practical teaching approach facilitated by the knowledge graph, this model guides students in acquiring object detection expertise, thereby enhancing their comprehensive development. The paper gives a statement and considers the solution of an urgent scientific problem of formation control for a group of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) operating in an unstable environment. To construct the reference trajectories and allocate UAVs to positions of a given structure, an original approach is proposed based on the adapted Kohonen neural network with a set of metrics, including Euclidean, Mahalanobis and Euclidean-Mahalanobis distances. To implement the movement of a UAV group in a complex environment, we apply the principles of intelligent-geometric control, which allows to combine flexible intelligent and precise geometric control methods within one concept. When moving along a given route, UAVs use a set of allowable control strategies. The developed modeling scheme is designed to take into account wind loads and possibly dangerous rapprochement of vehicles. To reflect the dynamics of UAVs, a special module is used that contains transfer functions integrated into a single stabilization system with an autopilot. The proposed approach has shown promise when simulating a series of formation control problems. © 2023 IEEE.

This research delves into stochastic methods for density estimation, focusing on techniques such as kernel density estimation (KDE), jittering, and handling multimodality. It aims to leverage these methods to detect cyber threats based on the density distributions of system queries. KDE provides a nonparametric approach to estimating the probability density function of a random variable, allowing for flexible modeling of complex data patterns. Jittering introduces controlled randomness into data points, enhancing the robustness of density estimation against overfitting and improving generalization performance. Moreover, addressing multimodality is crucial for accurately capturing diverse behaviors within the query distributions, which is essential for cyber threat detection in heterogeneous environments. By combining these stochastic methods, this study seeks to enhance the reliability and efficiency of cyber threat detection systems by providing more nuanced insights into the underlying data distributions, thus enabling proactive measures against emerging threats. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper a one-line queueing system with two priority classes, relative priority, Poissonian input flow with random intensity and infinite number of places in queue for waiting is considered. The current intensity value is taken at the beginning of the time reckoned for the arrival of the next requirement. Successive values of the flow intensity form a Markov chain of a special kind. This input flow structure allows to take in consideration not only mathematical expectation and variance, but also correlation between interval of two next arrivals. The main result is the limit distribution of the queue length for the least priority class, it is obtained in an explicit form. Also, analytical expressions for the density function, mathematical expectation and variance are given. Numerical examples, which show difference among limit distributions (for different parameters) for studied cases are provided. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

In this paper we consider a multi-server model in terms of a resource loss system with the waiting buffer and the multi-type of resources. A customer accepted for servicing occupies a random amount of resources with described distribution functions. Based on the assumptions of a Poisson arrival process and exponential service times, we analytically find the system of equilibrium equations. We proposed an approximation of the model with the single type of resources. We analytically find the system of equilibrium equations, solving which we get the stationary probabilities for the simpler model. For various probability distributions, we evaluated metrics of interest such as the loss probability of the system, the average waiting time, the average number of customers, and the average resource requirements of blocked customers. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The study of nonlinear problems associated with the process of heat transfer in material is very important for practice. Previously, the authors proposed an effective algorithm for determining the volumetric heat capacity and thermal conductivity of a substance based on the results of experimental observations of the dynamics of the temperature field in an object or the dynamics of heat flows at the boundary of the domain. In this work, a new cost functional is used to determine temperature-dependent thermodynamic parameters, which is a weighted sum of the deviation of temperature in the domain and heat fluxes at the boundary of the domain from the experimental values. The use of the new functional showed a noticeable increase in the efficiency of the proposed algorithm and the reliability of the results obtained. The consideration is carried out on the basis of the first boundary value problem for a one-dimensional non-stationary heat equation. The inverse coefficient problem under consideration is reduced to a variational problem, which is solved by gradient methods based on the application of the Fast Automatic Differentiation technique. In this article, we propose an updated version of our previously developed model for predicting drug-side effect associations, applied to two case studies: long QT syndrome and asthma. The classifier accepts the name of a specific drug side effect as input and outputs a list of drugs potentially associated with this side effect. By simulating how drug effects propagate within the interactome using the Random Walk with Restart algorithm, the classifier identifies genes potentially associated with the onset of the side effect. Based on the rationale that the more a drug perturbs these genes, the more likely it is to cause the side effect, the model identifies drugs potentially linked to the onset of the side effect. Moreover, the model enables the categorization of drugs into chemical subclasses using the ClassyFire schema, facilitating the analysis of complex side effects, such as asthma, through more specific mechanisms. The results show that the model identifies both drugs known to be associated with certain side effects, as well as drugs not officially reported by the FDA, demonstrating its generalizability and practical relevance. This method is also adaptable for analyzing other side effects. © 2024 IEEE.

The improvement of automated control systems in various fields of human activity is the main direction of the development of Society The problem of planning a set of jobs performed using two types of resources - renewable and non-renewable - is considered. Jobs allow interruptions and are characterized by directive intervals and durations, expressed as functions decreasing for each variable from the amount of non-renewable resources allocated to jobs. Exact and approximate algorithms for constructing an admissible schedule have been developed. A special case is studied when there is one type of non-renewable resource, and the functions of the dependence of the duration on the resource are linear. The algorithms are based on reducing the original problem to a flow problem in a network of a special type. © 2023 IEEE.
