Field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) serve as a convenient tool for prototyping and debugging developed digital circuits. Their circuitry is optimized for synchronous unit implementation. computer-aided design systems for digital circuits on FPGAs are also focused on synchronous projects. However, one can also use FPGAs for prototyping self-timed (ST) circuits in the mode of emulating a single-stage representation of some logical and indication cells. The paper analyzes the ST circuit indication cell implementations on the FPGAs and proposes a technique for emulating ST circuits on typical FPGAs. The paper estimates a hardware redundancy of the ST circuit implementations on FPGAs and the results of prototyping an ST unit multiplying two operands with subsequent third operand addition and subtraction without intermediate rounding on the Intel Cyclone and Arria families FPGAs. © 2024 IEEE.

The Japanese pine sawyer,Monochamus saltuarius,as a beetle vector of Bur-saphelenchus xylophilus(pine wood nematode),is an economically important forest pest in *** feed on the phloem and xylem of conifers,*** needs to overcome various stress factors,including coping with entomopathogenic bacteria and also various plant secondary compounds(PSCs).As an important adaptation strategy to colonize host trees,*** deposit eggs in oviposition pits to shield their *** pits har-bor bacterial communities that are involved in the host adaptation of *** to the ***,the composition,origin,and functions of these oviposition pit bacteria are rarely *** this study,we investigated the bacterial community associated with *** oviposition pits and their ability to degrade *** showed that the bacterial community structure of *** oviposition pits significantly differed from that of uninfected ***,the oviposition pit bacteria were predicted to be enriched in PSC degradation *** microbial community also harbored a lethal strain of Serratia,which was significantly ***,metatranscriptome anal-ysis indicated that genes involved in PSCs degradation were expressed complementarily among the microbial communities of oviposition pits and *** vitro degrada-tion showed that bacteria cultured from oviposition pits degraded more monoterpenes and flavonoids than bacteria cultured from uninfected phloem *** of ovipo-sition pits increased the mortality of newly hatched larvae and resulted in a significant decrease in body weight in the early ***,our results reveal that *** construct oviposition pits that harbor a diverse microbial community,with stronger PSCs degradation abilities and a low abundance of entomopathogenic bacteria,resulting in the increased fitness of newly hatched larvae.

In this article, we propose an updated version of our previously developed model for predicting drug-side effect associations, applied to two case studies: long QT syndrome and asthma. The classifier accepts the name of a specific drug side effect as input and outputs a list of drugs potentially associated with this side effect. By simulating how drug effects propagate within the interactome using the Random Walk with Restart algorithm, the classifier identifies genes potentially associated with the onset of the side effect. Based on the rationale that the more a drug perturbs these genes, the more likely it is to cause the side effect, the model identifies drugs potentially linked to the onset of the side effect. Moreover, the model enables the categorization of drugs into chemical subclasses using the ClassyFire schema, facilitating the analysis of complex side effects, such as asthma, through more specific mechanisms. The results show that the model identifies both drugs known to be associated with certain side effects, as well as drugs not officially reported by the FDA, demonstrating its generalizability and practical relevance. This method is also adaptable for analyzing other side effects. © 2024 IEEE.

computer games as an educational tool significantly improved information retention, student involvement, and motivation. Despite the growing popularity and the demonstrated positive impact, little progress is made to let educators create games without learning game programming or investing massive amounts of time, money, and human resources. This paper considers the usage of procedural content generation in simplifying the generation of game environments. Given that most educational material is in text format, we evaluate the possibility of generating 3D scenes starting from natural language text. A comprehensive survey of the current methods is presented, analyzing whether they can be successfully used in game-based learning. The study discusses several current limitations and possible improvements, highlighting a need for better progress in the domain. © 2023 IEEE.

Abstract: We consider the problem of realization of hypergraphs on a graph provided each hyperedgeis realized by a subgraph in which exactly two vertices have odd degree. This problem is related toCycle Double Cover conjecture. We prove that checking the existence of realization iscomputationally hard. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a lung disease causing hundred thousand of death each year worldwide and defined as a respiratory and airflow impairment majorly due to large and small airways dysfunctions. COPD could be considered as a syndrome that includes disease axes of variable pathological and clinical conditions. Despite recent advances, the comprehension of the molecular mechanisms responsible for COPD disease spectrum is far to be reached. Moreover, we should also consider continuous smoking exposure, which could lead to variability in the disease mechanisms and progression. Network-based multi-omics data integration can help to study the association between molecular determinants on diverse biomolecular layers in a disease context. In a previous study, we leveraged lung RNA-seq and DNA-methylation data of a COPD-control cohort to build a correlation-based integrated network (called coupled network), that helped to unveil genes involved in immune and inflammatory modulation of COPD. Therefore, in our previous study we highlighted the most important genes of the coupled network and inspected their single contribution to disease-related pathways. In this study we aim to overcome this limitation by performing a pathway activity analysis by considering the expression and DNA methylation profiles of coupled network genes. Moreover, we exploit this analysis to study the possible contribution of coupled network genes to the differential disease progression between current and former smokers patients. © 2024 IEEE.

The multiplier is a pervasive critical component today. However, most of them are difficult to be integrated into an integrated circuit. In this study, we proposed a novel analog multiplier for AC power application, using CMOS process to realize the analog voltage multiplication function of double-ended input and single-ended output. Under the working voltage of 3.3 V, the multiplier can operate with a wide input voltage range of 0–1.6 V (about 48.8% of the working voltage) and a wide output voltage range of 0–2.56 V (about 77.5% of the working voltage). The multiplier is implemented through the current difference between two NMOSs operating in the linear region and the saturation region, respectively. Compared with the existing technique, the proposed analog multiplier has a wider input and output range, and better linearity. It is suitable for AC power signal tracking and modulation. Finally, the United Microelectronics Corporation 0.18 μm 1P4M CMOS standard process was used for physical implementation. Moreover, there is not any BJT or special device used. It was measured that the analog multiplier circuit consumes about 0.56 mW at a working voltage of 3.3 V. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

In this paper, the problem of cubature Kalman fusion filtering(CKFF) is addressed for multi-sensor systems under amplify-and-forward(AaF) relays. For the purpose of facilitating data transmission, AaF relays are utilized to regulate signal communication between sensors and filters. Here, the randomly varying channel parameters are represented by a set of stochastic variables whose occurring probabilities are permitted to exhibit bounded uncertainty. Employing the spherical-radial cubature principle, a local filter under AaF relays is initially constructed. This construction ensures and minimizes an upper bound of the filtering error covariance by designing an appropriate filter gain. Subsequently, the local filters are fused through the application of the covariance intersection fusion rule. Furthermore, the uniform boundedness of the filtering error covariance's upper bound is investigated through establishing certain sufficient conditions. The effectiveness of the proposed CKFF scheme is ultimately validated via a simulation experiment concentrating on a three-phase induction machine.

We present the model for the formation of interest rates on consumer loans based on an analysis of commercial interests and the logic of behavior of commercial banks. From the position of the commercial banks, the borrowers’ income is a stochastic process described by a geometric Brownian motion. The commercial banks assess the default risk of borrowers. The consumer loan demand is described with the help of representative rational consumer behavior based on Ramsey-type model. As the fields of machine learning and computer vision are developing, facial recognition systems are becoming increasingly popular and are slowly being widely used in various fields like security, surveillance and medicine. This paper presents the design and development of a facial recognition solution that works in a distributed context, given that the devices used for capturing the images do not have the ability to train models capable of achieving good enough accuracy on large amounts of data. Thus, a method is presented in which the detection of human faces and the characteristics extraction are done locally based on a pre-trained FaceNet model. These characteristics are sent to a strong processing unit where a global model is trained and then transferred back to the clients, where it can be used for recognition. Through experimental evaluation, we show that our solution is efficient and exhibits high accuracy values. © 2023 IEEE.
