Research on high-accuracy gait recognition technique based on parallel genetic algorithm

In the field of sports science, gait recognition has a wide range of applications. However, compared to other biometric technologies, it has the problem of low recognition accuracy. Therefore, a technique combining the parallel genetic algorithm based on hierarchical fair competition with neural network ensemble is proposed to be applied in gait recognition. First, parallel genetic algorithm is adopted to increase individual diversity, and only appropriate features are selected to train each neural network candidate. Then, a set of individual neural networks are selected to complete the neural network ensemble so as to minimize the generalization error and maximize the negative correlation. Experiments on the CASIA gait database demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed gait recognition method. The results show that the proposed method has a higher recognition rate than the existing methods. © 2018, Ubiquitous International. All rights reserved.

With the advent of cloud computing, more and more consumers prefer to use the cloud services with the pay-as-you-consume mode. The cloud storage brings about great convenience to users, who store data in cloud and access to it using the smart devices anytime and anywhere. Consumers' information should be encrypted to guarantee the data privacy. Flexible searching on ciphertext is a critical challenge to be solved for effective data utilization. In this paper, we propose a novel semantic keyword searchable proxy re-encryption scheme for secure cloud storage. A highlight of this work is that the scheme is quantum attack resistant, while most of the available searchable encryption schemes are not. It supports not only exact keyword search but also synonym keyword search. Moreover, the data owner is capable to delegate his search right to another user using the proxy re-encryption mechanism. In the generation process of re-encryption key, the delegator and delegatee do not need to be interactive with each other. The scheme is also collusion resistant. The tremendous parallel computing ability of cloud computing encourages investigators to research its drawbacks and advantages on processing large-scale scientific applications such as workflows. The current cloud market is composed of numerous diverse public clouds and a local private cloud, and workflow scheduling is one of the biggest challenges on hybrid clouds due to the highly fragmented cloud market with respect to service provisions, pricing models, and bandwidths. In this paper, we propose an online-scheduling strategy for continuous submitted scientific workflows on hybrid clouds, which aims to complete the deadline-constrained applications as more as possible at a lower price. Firstly, a hierarchical iterative application partition (HIAP) algorithm is proposed to partition the application into a set of dependent tasks. Moreover, many online-scheduling algorithms cooperated with HIAP are presented to finish the workflows with a low average payment. Our strategy takes into account the basic characteristics on hybrid clouds such as bandwidth constraints, data transfer cost and computational cost. Various well-known workflows are used for evaluating the multiple scheduling algorithms and the results show that the MLF_ID approach can achieve a promising performance. Quality assessment of stereoscopic 3D images is much more complex than that of 2D images. Quality assessment metrics for 3D images have achieved good performance on symmetric distorted 3D images, while given poor performance on asymmetric distorted 3D images. To further improve the perception consistency for symmetric and asymmetric distorted 3D images, this paper presents a machine learning-based full-reference 3D image quality assessment method that learns from multi IQA metrics. Considering that changes in left view, right view and depth information all impact human perception, our method considers the quality of two views and depth information. Since symmetric and asymmetric distortions impact left and right views of a 3D image differently, we propose different features for symmetric and asymmetric distorted 3D images. The experimental results show that our method has better performance than both 2D-based 3D quality assessment metrics and the state of the art specially designed 3D quality assessment metrics.

Signature verification is an important part of digital forensics. In order to solve the shortcomings of manual identification in technical accuracy and subjectivity, this paper proposed an off-line signature identification method based on Support Vector Machine (SVM). A powerful feature set is collected by extracting grid features and global features of a signature picture. The method is applied for identifying different writing systems and the highest correct probability of identification arrives at 100%. The results indicated that the method is workable and can be an effectively technical support for digital forensics.

XGRouter： high-quality global router in X-architecture with particle swarm optimization

This paper presents a high-quality very large scale integration （VLSI） global router in X-architecture, called XGRouter, that heavily relies on integer linear pro- gramming （ILP） techniques, partition strategy and particle swarm optimization （PSO）. A new ILP formulation, which can achieve more uniform routing solution than other formu- lations and can be effectively solved by the proposed PSO is proposed. To effectively use the new ILP formulation, a partition strategy that decomposes a large-sized problem into some small-sized sub-problems is adopted and the routing re- gion is extended progressively from the most congested re- git）n. In the post-processing stage of XGRouter, maze rout- ing based on new routing edge cost is designed to further optimize the total wire length and mantain the congestion uniformity. To our best knowledge, XGRouter is the first work to use a concurrent algorithm to solve the global rout- ing problem in X-architecture. Experimental results show that XGRouter can produce solutions of higher quality than other global routers. And, like several state-of-the-art global touters, XGRouter has no overflow.

Cloud is the computing paradigm which provides computing resource as a service through network. The client can use computing resource in a convenient and on-demand way, just like the water and the electricity we use daily. The mapping between virtual machine and physical machine is the key of the VM scheduling problem. Nowadays we advocate low-carbon life. It calls for the green cloud computing solutions whether protecting the environment or saving the cost of cloud suppliers. The proposed VM placement algorithm is energy-efficient, and considers the multi-dimentional resource constrains, such as CPU, memory, network bandwidth, and so on. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithms not only contribute a lot to energy saving, but also try best to meet the quality of service (QoS). Therefore, we make significant savings in operating cost and make full use of various resources in the cloud data center. The algorithm has promising prospect in application. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.

As a new computing paradigm, cloud computing is receiving considerable attention in both industry and academia. Task scheduling plays an important role in large-scale distributed systems. However, most previous work only consider cost or makespan as optimized objective for cloud computing. In this paper, we propose a soft real-time task scheduling algorithm based on particle swarm optimization approach for cloud computing. The optimized objectives include not only cost and makespan, but also deadline missing ratio and load balancing degree. In addition, to improve resource utilization and maximize the profit of cloud service provider, a utility function is employed to allocate tasks to machines with high performance. Simulation results show the proposed algorithm can effectively minimize deadline missing ratio, maximize the profit of cloud service provider and achieve better load balancing com- pared with baseline algorithms. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.

Steiner minimal tree is a fundamental model in VLSI routing. Further considering X-architecture, the presence of obstacles, and the requirements of multilayer routing, this paper presented an efficient algorithm based on particle swarm optimization for constructing the multilayer obstacle-avoiding X-architecture Steiner minimal tree. Edge transformation was designed to make the particles have the greater ability to change the topology of the routing tree and avoided the obstacles. The new operators combined with union-find set were designed to prevent the generation of the loops. In order to avoid obstacle and discourage the generation of vias, the penalty function related to obstacle-avoiding and vias was proposed. The proposed algorithm finally optimizes the total cost of routing tree which is the most important optimization target of the multilayer routing. The experimental results show that, the proposed algorithm is effective and superior to state-of-the-art multilayer routing algorithms on the total cost. ©, 2015, Institute of computing Technology.
