This paper gives results on the use of stochastic geometry with small cluster for the performance analysis of large wireless networks. The aim is to present a generalization of the assertion that a point process on a wireless communication network significantly depends on the links. In real world graph constructions, the decision on whether to connect two nearby points depends not only on the distance between the nearby points but also on the interaction between them. Motivated by the attempt to unify systematic development and application in modeling real world networks, we propose a new model, called related point process, to generate a random graph and point process by a two-step procedure: 1) the generation of a point process, and 2) the application of a kernel family to each edge to produce sub graphs. It is an alternative approach to specifying a structure of a small cluster in a wireless communication network. We also consider some properties of the model, showing, for example, the degree distribution by using a probability generating functional and giving some asymptotic analysis of the sub graph count. In particular, although our main concern is the power law distribution, we also take into account cases where the distribution model is arbitrary. © 2012 IEEE.

This article discusses the problem of realization of future forms of education, like eTraining services. The construction of such services is complex. The individual modules are created by different teams using different technologies. Therefore, the focus was on the use of Service Oriented Architecture in this kind of applications. There is a reflection on an applicability of SOA in the construction of combined services in this paper. The analysis of the demand for services is presented. The process of composition of services is discussed and architecture of the system is proposed.

In this paper, we present a method to predict the examination result for remedy, called Context Awareness Score Prediction System (CASPS). CASPS builds on an awareness environment and predicts the learning situations. The main task of the method is in the analysis of the test results and in the provision of the learning suggestion and the remedial courses. The main contributions of the CASPS system described herein are twofold: (1) The system can produce the learning curve based on the examination result, which would make it easy for the students and teachers to understand the learning results. (2) The system can provide the course contents to the students to help them review after the examination. Moreover, it provides suggestions for teaching on the not yet familiar and confused contents. © 2012 IEEE.

Since a puzzle solver, for the puzzle reconstruction problem, can be applied to many other real world problems, various studies have focused on improving the end result of the puzzle solvers they proposed for several years. In spite of these efforts, the puzzle reconstruction problem, however, has never fully solved by using a search algorithm with a limited computation time. In this paper, and effective search algorithm is presented for the puzzle reconstruction problem. The proposed algorithm uses ant colony optimization to guide the search directions toward the global optimal solution, the color information to measure the similarity between pairs of puzzles, and an effective reconstruction strategy to improve the end result. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we compare it with several state-of-the-art puzzle reconstruction algorithms. The simulations results show that the proposed algorithm out performs all the state-of-the-art algorithm we compared in this paper. © 2012 IEEE.

Context-aware technologies have attracted the attention of researchers in various domains, such as e-learning, the semantic web, and web intelligence. Generally speaking, contextual information can come from many resources, and the problem is that it is very difficult to integrate it into a single system or to exchange it between systems. Ontology may be able to solve this problem by describing and sharing particular domain knowledge and building a context-aware system. In this paper, an efficient ontology system called the intelligent project management system (iPMS) is proposed. The proposed system uses the web ontology language (OWL) to build contextual information and the corresponding rules. In addition, the Jena reasoning engine and OWL are used to deal with emergent events automatically. As a result, iPMS can provide an intelligent project management service. © 2012 IEEE.

Grid scheduling is an NP-complete problem which the objective is to minimize the completion time (makespan). This paper is motivated by the requirement that the feedback analysis service of e-learning system needs to distribute the computing jobs for balancing the workload and getting the fast response. We propose an efficient local search method embed into the differential evolution algorithm (DE) to find a feasible solution. DE is efficiently in the computing time and the proposed local search method tries to enhance the result of DE for minimizing the makespan. Comparing with DE, our proposed algorithm reduces the makespan with the ratio 64% in the best case. Simulation results demonstrate the proposed method. © 2012 IEEE.

Automatically determining the number of clusters without a priori knowledge is a difficult research issue for data clustering problem. An effective multiobjective evolutionary algorithm based clustering algorithm is proposed to not only overcome this problem but also provide a better clustering result in this study. The proposed algorithm differs from the traditional evolutionary algorithm in the sense that instead of a single crossover operator and a single mutation operator, the proposed algorithm uses a pool of crossover operators and a pool of mutation operators that are selected at random to increase the search diversity. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, several well-known datasets are used. The simulation results show that not only can the proposed algorithm automatically determine the number of clusters, but it can also provide a better clustering result.

The so-called heuristics have been widely used in solving combinatorial optimization problems because they provide a simple but effective way to find an approximate solution. These technologies are very useful for users who do not need the exact solution but who care very much about the response time. For every existing heuristic algorithm has its pros and cons, a hyper-heuristic clustering algorithm based on the diversity detection and improvement detection operators to determine when to switch from one heuristic algorithm to another is presented to improve the clustering result in this paper. Several well-known datasets are employed to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can provide a better clustering result than the state-of-the-art heuristic algorithms compared in this paper, namely, k-means, simulated annealing, tabu search, and genetic k-means algorithm.

Over the past decade, bot net has been a serious threat to the Internet because it can be used to launch a variety of attacks on the Internet. To prevent the attacks, we have to fully understand the infection paths and attack methods of bot net. Hence, this study is aimed at reconstructing scenarios of attacks performed by bot net on the Testbed@TWISC platform in such a way that the behavior of the bot net and the infection period can be observed and analyzed so that better defense tools can be built. © 2012 IEEE.

In novel learning environments, learning systems not only are able to get environmental information through sensing technology to provide adaptive learning resources and information to students, but also help students to conduct interactions with learning communities. In this study, the development potential of digital archives resource into outdoor environmental education is focused with mobile learning-based educational theory. It makes the learner learn the essence of environmental education, in order to appreciate the valuable resources of nature paid to understand the sustainable necessary of ecological coexistence, thus promote the human treasure of natural resources. To verify the feasibility of our approach, the grade students participate the cooperative learning activity. The experimental results show that the effect of mobile community interactive learning is better than the general outdoor learning methods and the cooperative learning theory can improve the efficiency of learners' knowledge effectively. © 2012 IEEE.
