Oscillations of atmospheric muon and electron neutrinos produce tau neutrinos with energies in the GeV range, which can be observed by the ORCA detector of the KM3NeT neutrino telescope in the Mediterranean Sea. First measurements with ORCA6, an early subarray corresponding to about 5% of the final detector, are presented. A sample of 5828 neutrino candidates has been selected from the analysed exposure of 433 kton-years. The ντ normalisation, defined as the ratio between the number of observed and expected tau neutrino events, is measured to be Sτ = 0.48+0−0.335 . This translates into a ντ charged-current cross section measurement of στmeas = (2.5+2−1.68) × 10−38 cm2 nucleon−1 at the median ντ energy of 20.3 GeV. The result is consistent with the measurements of other experiments. In addition, the current limit on the non-unitarity parameter affecting the τ-row of the neutrino mixing matrix was improved, with α33 > 0.95 at the 95% confidence level. The progress in humanoid robotics research has led to robots that are able to perform complex tasks with a certain level of autonomy by integrating perception, action, planning, and learning capabilities. However, robot capabilities are still limited in regard to how they externalize their internal state and world state, i.e. their sensorimotor experience, and how they explain which tasks they performed and how they performed these tasks. In other words, their capability in conveying information to the user in a way similar to what humans do is limited. To this end, we present a verbalization system that generates natural language explanations of the robot's past navigation and manipulation experience. We propose a threelayered model to represent robot experience which doubles as a retrievable episodic memory. Through the memory system, the robot can select a matching experience given a user query. In order to generate flexible narrations, we use verbalization parameters to capture user preferences. We show that our verbalization algorithm is capable of producing appropriate results based on these verbalization parameters. The proposed verbalization system is able to generate explanations for navigation as well as grasping and manipulation tasks. The resulting system is evaluated in a pick-and-place kitchen scenario.

In the era of precision measurements of neutrino oscillation parameters, it is necessary for experiments to disentangle discrepancies that may indicate physics beyond the Standard Model in the neutrino sector. KM3NeT/ORCA is a water Cherenkov neutrino detector under construction and anchored at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea. The detector is designed to study the oscillations of atmospheric neutrinos and determine the neutrino mass ordering. This paper focuses on the initial configuration of ORCA, referred to as ORCA6, which comprises six out of the foreseen 115 detection units of photosensors. A high-purity neutrino sample was extracted during 2020 and 2021, corresponding to an exposure of 433 kton-years. This sample is analysed following a binned log-likelihood approach to search for invisible neutrino decay, in a three-flavour neutrino oscillation scenario, where the third neutrino mass state ν3 decays into an invisible state, e.g. a sterile neutrino. The resulting best fit of the invisible neutrino decay parameter is (formula presented), corresponding to a scenario with θ23 in the second octant and normal neutrino mass ordering. In order to improve the performance of wireless sensor networks and adapt the development of network technology, proposed a software defined wireless sensor network model which had hierarchy architecture and based on OpenF low protocol under the software defined network architecture. Added the information fusion layer to the model, the Sink-nodes forwarded the link information after the sensor-nodes had collected information. Fused and fragmented logically the node data information using network virtualization technology of the OpenF low protocol. Managed centrally the path forward strategy by the controller, and then improved the network information forward mechanism under the new architecture. On that basis, simulated the new architecture model and contrasted traditional wireless sensor routing protocols. The experiment results show that the new architecture can extend the life cycle of network and improve network.

In this paper, Sobel edge detection is implemented on an FPGA using a DEl-SoC development board from TERASIC. OpenCL as a new scheme is used for implementation. The development process and implementation details are described. The results show that OpenCL is an efficient method for FPGA development compared to traditional Hardware Description Language (HDL). We apply the OpenCL programming to FPGA-based Sobel edge detection, which gains a significant performance increase compared to that of software methods. The work of this paper can be extended to more complicated algorithms.

Automatic metal drum opening-sealing device is the key device of the low and intermediate level radioactive wastes treatment line for the nuclear power plant, which is used to open and seal the metal drum filled with radioactive wastes automatically. This paper firstly analyzes the key technologies of the metal drum opening-sealing device which include the technology of metal drum positioning, drum trip bolt and bolt hole positioning, drum cover depositing and bolt tightening shaft torque controlling. Then, based on the modular design method, a device prototype was designed and made and tests were carried out based on the prototype. Optimal-Switched H∞Robust Tracking for Maneuvering Space Target

For maneuvering target tracking problem, robust filtering is an effective way to gain fast and accurate target trajectory in real time. The H∞filter (H∞F) is a conservative solution with infinite-horizon robustness, leading to excessive cost of filtering optimality and reduction of estimation precision. In order to retrieve the filtering optimality sacrificed by conservativeness of the H∞F design, in this paper, an optimal-switched filtering mechanism is developed and established on the standard H∞F to propose an optimal-switched H∞filter (OSH∞F). The optimal-switched mechanism adopts a switched structure that switches filtering mode between optimal and H∞robust by setting a switching threshold, and introduces an optimality-robustness cost function (ORCF) to on-line optimize the threshold such that the switching structure can be optimized. In the ORCF, a non-dimensional weight factor (WF) is used to quantify the ratio of the filtering robustness and optimality. As the only tunable parameter in the filter, when the WF is given, the proposed OSH∞F can obtain the optimal state estimates with filtering optimality and robustness kept at the WF-determined ratio. With the conservativeness of the H∞F optimized, the developed OSH∞F can be used as a generalized H∞F form. A simulation example of space target tracking has demonstrated the superior estimation performance of the OSH∞F compared with that of Kalman filter and other typical H∞filters. © 2016

Detection of liquid mixture of different volume ratio is very important in industrial purposes. The paper reports a sensing mechanism of binary liquid mixture for different volume fraction, based on the measurement of refractive index of the mixture. Here, a highly sensitive liquid filled core Photonic Crystal Fiber structure has been proposed to detect liquid mixture solution. Numerical investigation of the proposed structure is carried out by employing full vectorial Finite Element Method (FEM).

View-based 3D object retrieval techniques have become prevalent in various fields, and lots of ingenious studies have promoted the development of retrieval performance from different aspects. In this paper, we focus on the 2D projective views that represent the 3D objects and propose a boosting approach by evaluating the discriminative ability of each object’s views. Different from previous works on selecting representative views of query object, we investigate the discriminative information of each view in dataset. By employing the proposed reverse distance metric, we utilize the discriminative information for many to many view set matching. The proposed algorithm is then employed with various features to boost the multi-model graph learning method. We compare our approach with several state of the art methods on ETH-80 dataset and National Taiwan University 3D model dataset. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method and its excellent boosting performance. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2016.
