Combination of multi-modal PET-CT imaging for lung tumor segmentation is significant for clinical treatment. Existing methods have not fully considered the impact of noise in PET-CT on the multi-modal interaction. To address this, we propose a novel Attention in Attention Network (AiANet). AiANet can mutually learn multi-modal characteristics for segmentation through its cross-learning modules. Within the cross-learning module, we introduce two nested-attention blocks, namely Attention in Self-Attention (AiSA) and Attention in Cross-Attention (AiCA), for multi-scale feature enhancement and multi-modal feature interaction. Importantly, since traditional attention weights calculated solely or unilaterally based on PET or CT can be vulnerable to the inevitable noisy information, we embed a novel Attention in Attention (AiA) module into AiSA and AiCA. The AiA module can seek cross-modal consensus for attention weights to alleviate their noise. Experimental results on clinical PET-CT data of lung cancer demonstrate the superiority of our method.

Multi-kernel Correntropy Regression: Robustness, Optimality, and Application on Magnetometer Calibration

This paper investigates the robustness and optimality of the multi-kernel correntropy (MKC) on linear regression. We first derive an upper error bound for a scalar regression problem in the presence of arbitrarily large outliers and state that the kernel bandwidth plays an important role in minimizing the lowest upper error bound. Then, we find that the proposed MKC is related to a specific heavy-tail distribution, where its head shape is consistent with the Gaussian distribution but its tail shape is heavy-tailed, and the extent of heavy-tail is controlled by the kernel bandwidth. It becomes a Gaussian distribution when the bandwidth is infinite, which allows one to tackle both Gaussian and non-Gaussian problems without explicitly investigating the noise distributions. To explore the optimal underlying distribution parameters, an expectation-maximization-like (EM) algorithm is developed to estimate the parameter vectors and the distribution parameters in an alternating manner. The results show that our algorithm can achieve equivalent performance compared with the traditional linear regression under Gaussian noise, and it significantly outperforms the conventional method under heavy-tailed noise. Both numerical simulations and experiments on a magnetometer calibration application verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. Note to Practitioners-The goal of this paper is to enhance the accuracy of conventional linear regression in handling outliers while maintaining its optimality under Gaussian assumptions. Our algorithm is formulated under the maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) framework, assuming the regression residuals follow a type of heavy-tailed noise distribution with an extreme case of Gaussian. Processing high-dimensional data cubes and developing high-performance classifiers are core objectives in the field of hyperspectral image classification (HSIC). Superpixel-based methods are widely used in HSIC due to their efficacy in reducing redundant information and enhancing local features. However, imprecise segmentation, especially in complex structures and textures of hyperspectral images (HSIs), may lead to inconsistencies in the regions extracted by superpixels and the boundaries between different ground objects. Such inconsistencies significantly degrade the classification performance of HSIs. Alternatively, when parameter settings are inaccurate, edge-aware feature extraction methods often introduce sharpening artifacts at the image boundaries, resulting in a decrease in classification accuracy. To effectively address these challenges, we propose a novel probabilistic fusion method for HSIC. This method consists of the following stages. First, spatial information is extracted by a multiscale superpixel segmentation method and then probabilistically optimized by the extended random walk (ERW) method. Next, semantic-aware structural features (S2Fs) are extracted along with edge information of different objects. Lastly, a probabilistic framework is proposed to fuse the class probabilities of superpixel-based spatial information and semantic-aware structural features. Experimental results on three real datasets show state-of-the-art classification performance, even with limited training sets. ©1991-2012 IEEE.

This paper presents two computationally efficient algorithms for the orientation estimation of inertial measurement units (IMUs): the multi-kernel correntropy-based gradient descent (CGD) and the multi-kernel correntropy-based decoupled orientation estimation (CDOE). Traditional methods, such as gradient descent (GD) and decoupled orientation estimation (DOE), rely on the least square (LS) criterion in algorithm derivation, making them vulnerable to external acceleration and magnetic interference. To address this issue, we first demonstrate that the multi-kernel correntropy loss (MKCL) is an optimal objective function under the maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) framework when the noise follows a specific type of heavy-tailed distribution. Then, we provide some important properties of the MKCL as a cost function. By replacing the LS cost with the MKCL, we develop the CGD and CDOE algorithms. We evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed methods by comparing them with existing algorithms in various situations. Experimental results indicate that our proposed methods (CGD and CDOE) outperform their conventional counterparts (GD and DOE), especially when faced with external acceleration and magnetic disturbances. Furthermore, the new algorithms demonstrate significantly lower computational complexity than Kalman filter-based approaches, making them suitable for applications with low-cost microprocessors. This paper proposes a novel grid-connected inverter with LCL filters applied to IRM-ILQ (Inverse Reference Model - Inverse Linear Quadratic) control strategy. The IRM, which is feed-forward control, allows for realizing the fast response to current control without delay. The ILQ control gives an analytical solution for optimal control, and response speed in the closed-loop system is controlled. The IRM-ILQ control method simultaneously provides target tracking and error convergence, basically the IRM-ILQ control is the two-degree of freedom control. Owing to it, it can suppress surge current less than 58.6% during momentary power failure and make power factor keep unity even when command current value changes. The proposed grid-connected inverter is confirmed current tracking and an impressive adaptability to varying amplitude and phase of current by numerical simulations.

This paper presents an innovative approach to identifying defects in alloy wheel production by integrating image processing techniques with a mobile application platform. The system receives X-ray alloy images from the factory via mobile phone, processes them using image processing techniques to enhance clarity and readiness for defect detection, and then transmits the processed images to a Django framework via a uniform resource locator (URL). Subsequently, the system detects defects in the images, encodes them in Base64 format, and sends them to the mobile application through an API (Application Program Interface) for display on the user interface. This well-designed system architecture offers manufacturers a comprehensive solution to ensure product quality, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.

In today's modern age, there is a growing need for temperature sensors that can conform to the skin and monitor body temperature continuously. Achieving this requires the miniaturization of the sensor and careful selection of the active layer stacking. Further, it is important to check the effect of the active layer stacking on the sensor performance. In this context, we present the performance evaluation results for a polymer-based flexible temperature sensor designed to conform to the skin. This sensor utilizes PEDOT:PSS + GO composition as the temperature-sensitive material developed on top of a flexible PET substrate. The experimental results demonstrate that the performance of the sensor is dependent on the active layer stacking and electrode separation. An impressive sensor sensitivity of $1.205 \%/^\circ\mathrm{C}$ was achieved through sensor miniaturization and a single active layer stacking. This shows the performance tuning of a temperature sensor using active layer stacking.

In the era of big data, data trading significantly enhances data-driven technologies by facilitating data sharing. Despite the clear advantages often experienced by data users when incorporating multiple sources, the topic of multi-source data trading remains largely unexplored. This paper designs a novel data trading framework, which enables multi-source data trading through multi-source cooperation. The proposed framework aims to improve data usage efficiency and increase seller revenue. In particular, we model data sellers’ cooperative decisions through the Nash bargaining framework and systematically outline the interactions between sellers and buyers as a two-stage Stackelberg game. A key contribution of this work is the consideration of coupling among diverse data products, which is essential but often overlooked in prior studies. We properly classify data’s utility into endogenous and relational categories to disentangle the coupling. Despite the inherent non-convex nature of the optimization problem, we methodically derive the closed-form optimal solutions by decomposing the problem into several subproblems. Interestingly, we reveal that, under our proposed framework, sellers’ revenue initially remains steady with the increase of product coupling level, but begins to rise once the level exceeds a certain threshold due to the substitute effect. Finally, experimental results show that our proposed framework can improve the seller’s profit by up to 46.32% compared to traditional data trading methods in the current data market.

Limited by the working principles, LiDAR-SLAM systems suffer from the degeneration phenomenon in environments such as long corridors and tunnels, due to the lack of sufficient geometric features for frame-to-frame matching. The accuracy and sensitivity of existing degeneracy detection methods need to be further improved. In this paper, we propose a novel method for degeneracy detection using local geometric models based on point-to-distribution matching. To obtain an accurate description of local geometric models, an adaptive adjustment of voxel segmentation according to the point cloud distribution and density is designed. The codes of the proposed method is open-source and available at https://***/jisehua/***. Experiments with public datasets and self-build robots were conducted to evaluate the methods. The results exhibit that our proposed method achieves higher accuracy than the other existing approaches. Applying our proposed method is beneficial for improving the robustness of the LiDAR-SLAM systems.

SFDA-rPPG: Source-Free Domain Adaptive Remote Physiological Measurement with Spatio-Temporal Consistency

Remote Photoplethysmography (rPPG) is a non-contact method that uses facial video to predict changes in blood volume, enabling physiological metrics measurement. Traditional rPPG models often struggle with poor generalization capacity in unseen domains. Current solutions to this problem is to improve its generalization in the target domain through Domain Generalization (DG) or Domain Adaptation (DA). However, both traditional methods require access to both source domain data and target domain data, which cannot be implemented in scenarios with limited access to source data, and another issue is the privacy of accessing source domain data. In this paper, we propose the first Source-free Domain Adaptation benchmark for rPPG measurement (SFDA-rPPG), which overcomes these limitations by enabling effective domain adaptation without access to source domain data. Our framework incorporates a Three-Branch Spatio-Temporal Consistency Network (TSTC-Net) to enhance feature consistency across domains. Furthermore, we propose a new rPPG distribution alignment loss based on the Frequency-domain Wasserstein Distance (FWD), which leverages optimal transport to align power spectrum distributions across domains effectively and further enforces the alignment of the three branches. Extensive cross-domain experiments and ablation studies demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method in source-free domain adaptation settings. Our findings highlight the significant contribution of the proposed FWD loss for distributional alignment, providing a valuable reference for future research and applications.
