Kansei engineering has a wide range of applications in design and industry. By considering factors related to Kansei and applying them to the product development and design process, user experience can be improved. To evaluate Kansei quantitatively, researchers used questionnaires such as self-assessment manikin (SAM) in the past years. Recently, researchers have measured physiological signals associated with a person's emotional state, such as electroencephalography (EEG) and heart rate variability (HRV), to evaluate Kansei more objectively. Furthermore, previous studies have proposed a method to estimate emotions using EEG and HRV. They combined these two signals to estimate emotions based on a psychological model, Russell's circumplex model. In order to distinguish inferred emotions based on physiological signals from cognitive emotions, they named their method the bio-emotion estimation method. However, the accuracy of bio-emotion estimation method has not been fully validated. Meanwhile, the traditional SAM questionnaire can obtain users' cognitive emotions with arousal and valence value. The arousal and valence also correspond to the two factors of the bio-emotion estimation method. Therefore, we conducted a SAM questionnaire to verify the accuracy of the bio-emotion estimation method. The results showed that the measured EEG indexes were highly consistent with human arousal perception. Then, we applied the bio-emotion estimation method to present the emotional transitions induced by the stimuli.

This study introduces a method for fabricating ultra-high-performance catalysts designed for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), employing a combination of ball-milling, autoclave heat treatment procedures, and a two-step heat treatment approach. This method produces catalysts characterized by an atomic dispersion of ruthenium on nitrogen-doped carbon sheets (Ru–O/N–C–NH3). The Ru–O/N–C–NH3 catalyst exhibits exceptional OER activity in alkaline conditions, achieving a mass activity of 16842 A g−1Ru at 1.52 V, and a minimal overpotential of 290 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm−2. Moreover, this catalyst demonstrates enduring stability, showing no significant decay after a 100-h stability test in anion exchange membrane water electrolysis (AEMWE), with a mass activity approximating 62000 A g−1PGM. This is nearly three orders of magnitude greater than the AEMWE that utilizes commercial IrO2 as an anode. The atomic dispersion and the Ru–O/N bonding of the catalyst are substantiated to contribute to the notable enhancement in OER activity. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

Environmental impacts of small scale industries are still not well investigated, especially for estates where multiple small scale industries are clustered causing cumulative effects potentially impacting most vulnerable groups. This study aimed to investigate the concentrations of heavy metals (Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Pb, Al, Zn, and Cr) and the metalloid (As) in surface soils near the intensely active small-scale industrial area in Thailand, assess the contamination levels in the co-located child care center, and estimate potential human health risks from exposure to the heavy metals. Surface soil heavy metal(loid) elements were evaluated across a background area, area near main roads, a small-scale industrial area, and a child care centre. The concentrations of Al were found be the highest at all investigation sites, with the most elevated concentrations observed in the small-scale industrial area. The concentration of Pb in the industrial area reached 1176 mg/kg, exceeding the national standard and acceptable limit. Moreover, the contamination level for Cu, Pb, and Zn in the industrial area imply a considerable risk with enrichment factor EF > 40, and geo-accumulation index Igeo ≥5. Heavy metal levels (Ni, Cu, Pb) in the soil near the road and the child care center were similar, suggesting shared contamination sources. Conversely, Al, Zn, As, and Cr in the child care center had slightly higher concentrations than near the road but lower than the small-scale industrial area, indicating potential industrial influence on metal levels within the child care center. The principal component analysis showed Mn and Fe distributed in the background, while As, Pb, Ni, Cu, Al, Zn, and Cr accumulated in the small-scale industrial area. The findings indicate that small-scale industrial activities contribute to elevated levels of heavy metals in the soil, particularly within the child care center, posing significant ingestion risks, especially for children (HI > 1). Background: Studies on disease burden in Taiwan are lacking. We aimed to quantify the burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD) attributable to high body mass index (BMI) in Taiwan. Methods: Using a comparative risk assessment approach from the global Burden of Disease study, we estimated the population attributable fraction (PAF), attributable CVD burden, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) according to sex, age, and area of residence in Taiwan. The BMI distribution for the population was obtained from the National Health Interview Survey in 2013. CVD was defined as an ischemic heart disease or stroke. Results: The attributable PAF for CVD from high BMI was 18.0% (19.6% in men and 15.6% in women), and it was highest (42.7%) in those aged 25-30 years. Adults aged 60-65 years had the highest absolute DALYs (11,546). The average relative age-standardized attributable burden was 314 DALYs per 100,000 person-years, and it was highest in those aged 75-80 years (1,407 DALYs per 100,000 person-years). Those living in Taitung County had the highest PAF of 21.9% and the highest age-standardized attributable burden (412 DALYs). Conclusions: In Taiwan, an 18% reduction in CVDs could be achieved if obesity/overweight was prevented. Prevention was most effective in early adulthood. The absolute CVD burden from obesity/overweight was highest in middle-aged men, and the relative burden was highest in older adults. Resource allocation in targeted populations and specific areas to eliminate CVD and health inequities is urgently required. © 2023, Republic of China Society of Cardiology. All rights reserved.

A global initiative to develop low-carbon, resilient health systems-the COP26 Health programme-launched at the 83 nations have committed to participate in this initiative. This analysis evaluates the effectiveness of existing and proposed indicators towards public monitoring and accountability to these commitments. Our findings reveal substantial gaps in data availability and indicator relevance, with many countries reporting process indicators that do not reflect actual progress towards achieving sustainable health-care systems. We found a dearth of suitable indicators and an urgent need to develop robust ones that are adaptable to different health-care system contexts. These indicators should be designed to capture tangible outcomes, support policy making, and prevent greenwashing. Integration of more robust indicators into independent scientific monitoring can support systematic inclusion of health care in global climate strategies, thereby enhancing the overall effectiveness of the COP26 Health programme.

The proportion of China’s 65-year-old population has increased year by year. As we enter old age, people’s average life expectancy increases year by year. The risk of disease in the elderly population increases. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Taiwan, most people over the age of 65 suffer from cancer and heart disease. Pneumonia, cerebrovascular disease, and diabetes. With medical advancement, more and more disease characteristics can be found in medical imaging. With the development of technology, the higher the resolution of the image, the more information that can be contained, and the doctor will spend more time marking and diagnosing. There is currently no open imaging training and recognition platform for users to use, so this study uses deep learning CNN technology to construct an image analysis and recognition platform with analysis and recognition interface. Until the present moment, most of the medical records are only stored in hospitals. The hospital systems are still in Electronic Medical Records and haven’t developed into Personal Health Records yet to let people manage their own health records. If there is no medical record exchange between hospitals, it may cause a lot of medical resources waste and medical problems. The medical data cannot be exchanged smoothly because of different data standards, data inconsistency, and privacy of patient data. However, Blockchain technology can solve data consistency problems, privacy issues, and centralization problems. So use Blockchain technology to establish a PHR system that people can manage by themselves and use FHIR of National Medical Information Standard as the data format. People can share their PHR with doctors at any time and at any place, and doctors can give a more appropriate and accurate diagnosis. We use Ethereum’s private Blockchain. The system encrypts the PHR with an asymmetric key and then uses the Hash function to generate a hash value and write them into the block to ensure data consistency and security. The rising prevalence of depression presents a significant global health challenge, underscoring the need for effective early detection through sentiment analysis. Traditional multimodal sentiment analysis methods, which rely on Euclidean space for data representation, often fail to capture the complex hierarchical relationships and non-linear structures inherent in multimodal data. To address this limitation, we propose a novel multimodal architecture that operates in hyperbolic space and incorporates attention-based ensemble learning to enhance feature representation and model performance. We developed and evaluated ten AI models—five utilizing Euclidean space and five leveraging hyperbolic space—on the Spoken Language Understanding Evaluation (SLUE) benchmark dataset. The models were assessed using cross-validation techniques to ensure robustness, and statistical analyses were conducted to validate the findings. Our results indicate that hyperbolic-based multimodal models achieve a 2.32% improvement in accuracy compared to their Euclidean counterparts, while the integration of self-attention mechanisms further contributes an average accuracy gain of 0.96%. Additionally, we observed a 3.76% decline in performance when reducing the training-to-test data ratio from 90:10 to 50:50, highlighting the importance of data distribution in model training.
