Human comfort, safety, and performance are severely hampered by extremely cold environments, necessitating the ongoing development of innovative fabric technologies. The ability of materials to keep people warm is crucial, but conventional fabrics frequently have drawbacks in terms of comfort, durability, and thermal performance. To trace the development of fabric technologies insights from historical perspectives are drawn to trace the evolution of fabric technologies and key challenges highlighting their crucial impact on fabric performance in extremely cold situations. Design considerations are explored to improve comfort, movement, and protection by emphasizing the importance of layering systems. Standardized testing methods for the evaluation of fabric performance in cold environments are delved into. These evaluation criteria will be reliable and effective for future fabric solutions in extremely cold environments. Finally, the actual case studies are presented to show how emerging technologies can be successfully used in extremely cold environments. © 2024, idd3. All rights reserved.

This research work presents the realization of a decisive, substantial, and wideband infinite impulse response-type fractional order digital differentiator (FODD) adopting a new nature-influenced meta-heuristic optimization algorithm, namely quasi-chaotic opposition-based mayfly algorithm (QCOMA). QCOMA substantially behaves better than some famous techniques like real-coded genetic algorithm (RGA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), differential evolution (DE), flower pollination algorithm (FPA), hybrid flower pollination algorithm (HFPA), and mayfly algorithm (MA) in terms of various magnitude error behaviors, interpretation aspect precision, convergence nature, and computational time needed to determine the optimal explanation. In this research proposal, the authors intensively analyze the convergence behavior and magnitude error performances of the various order FODD’s by RGA, PSO, DE, FPA, HFPA, MA, and QCOMA. MATLAB simulation outcomes also strongly justify the magnitude response efficiency and stability of the offered various order FODD’s over some currently published research articles. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

Cancer remains a major contributor to mortality rates across the globe, causing nearly 10 million fatalities in 2020. Among all cancer types, breast cancer has the highest incidence, around 2.26 million cases reported across the globe by the World Health Organization. In the last few years, breast cancer was diagnosed in approximately 2.3 million people and caused around 685,000 deaths. In this paper, our investigation entails executing a statistical scrutiny of the worldwide proliferation of breast cancer, as well as delving into various machine learning and deep learning techniques for detecting breast cancer, along with their constraints and intricacies. Additionally, we have proposed a hybrid Machine Learning (ML) approach for detecting breast cancer with utmost accuracy, which streamlines the assessment procedure presently employed by radiologists in screening mammograms. © 2023 IEEE.

As the fossil fuel resources are diminishing rapidly, renewable energy generation and its penetration in power system is the trend in the modern era. In large multimachine power systems, as penetration of renewable energy units like wind energy are increasing day by day, load frequency control (LFC) issue is posing a serious challenge to the power system engineers due to fluctuating nature of the wind. Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) wind energy generating units being popular due to its capability of harnessing its stored kinetic energy, in the present work, such units are incorporated in all the three areas of 39-Bus New England Power System, separated by a deterministic method considering the power sharing of generators, for LFC study of the system. Furthermore, a latest Fuzzy technique i.e. Fuzzy-tuned PID Controllers (FT-PIDC) are used as LFC controllers and its performance is compared with conventional PID controllers (PIDC) in the LFC study of the DFIG-integrated system. Parameters of FT-PIDC and PIDC are optimized by Multi-objective Grasshopper Optimization Algorithm (MOGHOA). © 2024 IEEE.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is facing a growing concern regarding cyber-attacks and the need for anomaly detection. As the deployment of IoT devices rapidly expands, the number of attacks targeting these devices increases, posing a continuous threat of exploitation and danger. Various types of attacks, such as malicious operations, denial of service, MITM (Man-in-the-Middle), and scanning, can lead to the failure of IoT devices. In our study, we examine the effectiveness of several machine-learning algorithms, including decision trees, random forests, gradient-boosting machines (GBM), Support Vector Machines (SVM), Naive Bayes, Adaboost, and the unsupervised classifier K medoids. The objective is to analyze and predict network attacks targeting IoT devices. These algorithms are implemented in MATLAB platform. The dataset used here is IOTID2020 network intrusion dataset. The accuracy of the model by using adaboost is the highest that is 99.92% for normal and abnormal classification. The accuracy 99.49% for category classification. © 2024 IEEE.

The use of natural fibers in composite is increasing day by due to eco-friendly nature of the fibres and reuse of waste. Natural fibers can be classified according to their source of origin such as plant fiber, mineral fiber, and animal fiber. In the present article, epoxy was taken as the matrix and wool fiber for reinforcement with flax fiber for fabricating the composite using the hand layup technique. The impact of the hybridization of flax and wool fibers on the mechanical properties of natural fiber reinforced polymer composite was investigated. These fibers were blended in varying percentages with fixed fiber content of 5% [(100% flax fiber), (40% wool/60% flax fiber), (50% flax/50% wool fiber), (60% wool fiber/40% flax), (100% wool fiber)] with epoxy resin and sampled as F5, WF23, WF2.5, WF32, and W5 respectively. Tensile strength, flexural strength, and impact strength were investigated through experimentation. All hybrid composites outperformed non-hybrid wool fiber composites in terms of mechanical properties. The wool fiber is poor in mechanical strength which was compensated by high strength of flax fiber. © 2023 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

Citronella essential oil (CEO) has multitudes of industrial applications like insect repellents, aroma therapeutic substances, personal care products, food preservatives, etc. due to the presence of citronellal and geraniol as the two vital volatile organic compounds (VOC). Herein, a low-cost electronic nose (E-Nose) setup has been developed employing a Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) based dual sensor array system for effective simultaneous detection of citronellal and geraniol in the CEO sample. The sensors have been prepared using molecular imprinted polymer (MIP) technology for better sensitivity and selectivity. Principal component analysis was used to assess the performance of this multi-sensor array setup. The system could detect and discriminate both citronellal and geraniol simultaneously from the same CEO sample with a high separability index of 38.996. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, a novel Student Psychology Based Optimization (SPBO) method with Zero Bus Load Flow (ZBLF) is proposed for the optimum placement of distributed generation sources (DGs) in the 33 bus distribution network (DN) with and without the network reconfiguration. To reduce the stress on the utility, a predefined/constant energy is considered to be imported from the utility at different load levels (annual hourly load patterns). The proposed method is used in the presence of multi-objective functions for the optimum placement of DGs with and without network reconfiguration that shows a considerable reduction in active power loss and voltage deviation as well as an increment in the annual energy savings. Besides, the comparative statistical analysis shows that the proposed method scored the first rank for all the cases and all the load percentages. This confirms the superiority of the proposed method over the different existing methods available in the literature. © 2022 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

DNA microarrays can simultaneously measure the expression level of thousands of gene within a particular mRNA sample that provide information about the state of cells and tissues. Though these expressive values are useful in cancer classification, and understand the mechanisms involved in the genesis of disease processes, however, only a few genes out of these thousands of genes contribute towards disease classification. On this basis, usage of feature selection algorithm is favourable, as the main goal of feature selection algorithm is to identify the relevant features (here genes) efficiently. In this paper, we have applied four filter Feature Selection (FS) methods, namely, Mutual Information (MI), Pearson Correlation Coefficient (PCC), Chi2, ReliefF along with three well-known classifiers, namely, Random Forest (RF), Decision Tree (DT), and K-Nearest Neighbour (KNN) on six microarray datasets (both binary and multi-class) namely, Leukemia, Lung, Lymphoma and Leukemia, Gastric, SRBCT and Childhood Tumor and recorded the accuracies. © 2023 IEEE.
