Shared Mental Models and Boundary management Activities in New Product Development: A Perspective on Multiteam systems

—Multiteam systems (MTSs) have been increasingly adopted as an organizational form to manage large-scale projects. However, new product development (NPD) in the MTSs structure entails challenges with respect to achieving efficiency due to interteam coordination challenges. Shared mental models (SMMs) within a single team have been found to facilitate intrateam coordination;however, further exploration is needed as to whether SMMs within MTSs can improve interteam coordination among component teams and, if so, what mechanisms underlie this. The present article examines the theoretical underpinning of the impacts of SMMs among component team leaders on MTSs’ NPD efficiency, and further considers the impact of external conditions of requirement uncertainty, the most common external situation during NPD. Using survey data from 110 information technology development MTSs and drawing on boundary management perspective, the results reveal that SMMs among component team leaders positively affect NPD efficiency by managing the MTSs boundary, i.e., through boundary entrainment and boundary buffering activities at the system level. In addition, we find that requirement uncertainty plays a vital role in determining the nature of this relationship. Taken together, our findings highlight the importance of the role of SMMs among component team leaders in facilitating NPD efficiency in MTSs settings. © 2022 IEEE. One significant element brought about by the Busi-ness Continuity management System (BCMS) is the operation and maintenance of processes, capabilities, and response struc-tures that allow an organization to overcome interruptions. The outbreak of COVID-19 necessitated a forced change in this system structure. In this study, Rojana Industrial Park in Phra N akhon Si Ayutthaya Province, Thailand was chosen for a study site where the authors have been conducting ongoing research, to understand changes in industrial park activities affected by the pandemic. Wavelet analysis was employed to capture the time series change patterns of atmospheric composition. This approach aims to identify the altered realities of how BCMS adapts to rapid situational changes from a new perspective which is air quality. Comparing the concentration changes of NO2 and PM2.5 between pre-pandemic 2019 and post-pandemic 2021 onward, no significant changes were observed in the relatively short-term industrial park activities ranging from a few days to a week;low coherence in high-frequent change of air quality. In contrast, significant changes were confirmed in the long-term concentration change patterns over 16 days or more;high coherence in low-frequency. This suggests that industrial park activities, including production activities and the movement of people and goods related to these activities, may have changed before and after the pandemic. © 2024 IEEE.

Forest fires have a significant impact on ecosystems and human life, especially in northern Thailand, where Chiang Mai is severely affected. Traditional methods for detecting forest fires have limitations, so there is a need for advanced simulation models. This research uses Agent-Based Modeling (ABM) to develop a forest fire simulation for Chiang Mai. The methodology involves collecting historical data, performing Multiple Regression Analysis, designing the simulation, and testing it. Data from 1998 to 2021, including temperature, relative humidity, wind speed/direction, burn area, and slope, were collected from various sources. Multiple regression analysis identified wind speed as the most significant factor affecting burn area. The forest fire simulation, designed using ZF Wang's spread model and tested with AnyLogic, showed that wind direction and speed are crucial in fire spread. The simulation accurately predicted high-risk areas, helping in proactive planning and response. This study confirms that wind is a critical factor in forest fire spread, providing a valuable tool for fire districts to improve preparedness and management. Future research should focus on refining the model with localized data and integrating real-time detection to improve its accuracy and applicability. © 2024 IEEE.

management and information systems are considered two major disciplines that have to be combined to benefit from knowledge for rational decision-making which means strict procedures utilizing objective knowledge and logic for many years. Effective and efficient use of already invested organizational resources is a key subject to gain a competitive advantage by making decisions with the help of AI techniques which benefit from both internal and external knowledge. This paper introduces a new model to get benefits from open-source intelligence (OSINT) in the context of external knowledge with a green computing approach for solving global organizational challenges in the scope of Society 5.0. This research has a dual background, theoretical and practical. Problem defining and hypothesis formulation was carried out by literature review. Then, the application developed according to the proposed model was put into action in some organizations for testing, and feedback from experts who participated in the proof of concept (POC) activities was evaluated and discussed empirically. Finally, the findings of our research, the advantages of our model, and both academic and business future work were summarized. It has been practically determined that the model and application we have developed are largely successful in line with our hypotheses. However, the weaknesses and advantages of our study were also revealed. Our research is the first study that combines management Information systems and Open-Source Intelligence disciplines with the approach of Society 5.0 to support SMEs in analyzing open-source information to build better decision-making mechanisms. In the task of generating images, various image generation models have been developed. 'Stable Diffusion' has garnered significant attention for its ability to generate high-quality derivative images with minimal artifacts. However, developing various derivative models requires extensive trial and error and considerable experience. In this study, we propose three novel methods for the effective development of desired derivative models used in Stable Diffusion. The proposed methods facilitate the creation of new image generation models through 'merging' process, making it easier to predict the features of the merged model. The proposed methods extend task arithmetic, which enables parameter operations between models, into the merging process. To achieve this, we propose and utilize the 'feature score' using CLIP. In this paper, we conducted experiments on the overall parameter operations using feature scores with five models and specific labels. The experimental results showed that the reflection of features based on the task vector's multiply value acquired results with relatively small prediction errors. The potential of the proposed methods was confirmed. © 2024 IEEE.

Twitter is currently used as one of the applications that is often used to convey opinions or unrest by the public such as the current issue that is currently rife, namely regarding the increase in fuel oil prices (BBM) in Indonesia. With so much data scattered in a tweet that only consists of a few fragments of words, there must be valuable information or meaning that Twitter users want to convey. Text mining is a very appropriate method to do the analysis because in text mining there is a method that focuses on an opinion which will be concluded into positive and negative opinions. There are several algorithms that are most often used in data mining, namely K-Nearest Neighbor, Decision Tree, and Naive Bayes. The three algorithms used in this study were also compared with the use of feature selection Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) which is well known for improving the performance of algorithms. There are 2165 negative opinion data and 2835 positive sentiment data. The data will be tried based on distinctive sums of data namely 1000 data, 3000 data, and 5000 data. The classic K-Nearest Neighbor algorithm obtained an accuracy result of 75.60% and made it the best when tested with 1000 data. The use of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is proven to improve accuracy as when tested using 3000 data with an accuracy value of 78.21% on the K-Nearest Neighbor algorithm. In the mean time, in testing 5000 Data, the classic K-Nearest Neighbor once more gotten the most elevated exactness with a esteem of 74.02%. © 2023 IEEE.

Coordination Resistance in Cross-Functional NPD Projects: The Moderating Role of Temporal Leadership

Coordination cost is a critical management issue in cross-functional automotive new product development (NPD) projects, especially in complex environments. However, the literature has neglected to analyze the specific mechanisms by which coordination costs due to complexity may be reduced. This article examines whether and how two dimensions of temporal leadership reduce the coordination cost caused by complexity. In particular, we argue that two dimensions of temporal leadership, namely relationship-oriented and task-oriented temporal leadership, mitigate the effects of complexity on NPD coordination cost through coordination resistance. Based on survey data from 196 automotive NPD project managers, results show that coordination resistance significantly mediates the relationship between complexity and coordination costs. Relationship- and task-oriented temporal leadership also moderate the relationship between different kinds of project complexity and coordination resistance. When the level of relationship-oriented temporal leadership is high, the effect of organizational complexity on coordination resistance weakens. Contrary to our hypotheses, the effect of technological complexity on coordination resistance is stronger when the level of task-oriented temporal leadership is high, suggesting that the project manager should consider different dimensions of temporal leadership when faced with different complexities. © 1988-2012 IEEE.

The growth optimizer(GO)is an innovative and robust metaheuristic optimization algorithm designed to simulate the learning and reflective processes experienced by individuals as they mature within the social ***,the original GO algorithm is constrained by two significant limitations:slow convergence and high mem-ory *** restricts its application to large-scale and complex *** address these problems,this paper proposes an innovative enhanced growth optimizer(eGO).In contrast to conventional population-based optimization algorithms,the eGO algorithm utilizes a probabilistic model,designated as the virtual population,which is capable of accurately replicating the behavior of actual populations while simultaneously reducing memory ***,this paper introduces the Lévy flight mechanism,which enhances the diversity and flexibility of the search process,thus further improving the algorithm’s global search capability and convergence *** verify the effectiveness of the eGO algorithm,a series of experiments were conducted using the CEC2014 and CEC2017 test *** results demonstrate that the eGO algorithm outperforms the original GO algorithm and other compact algorithms regarding memory usage and convergence speed,thus exhibiting powerful optimization ***,the eGO algorithm was applied to image *** a comparative analysis with the existing PSO and GO algorithms and other compact algorithms,the eGO algorithm demonstrates superior performance in image fusion.

The 2011 flood in Thailand exposed significant vulnerabilities in industrial areas, highlighting the necessity for enhanced disaster risk management through Area-Business Continuity management (Area-BCM). This preliminary study focuses on identifying how stakeholders rely on information from each other to improve disaster preparedness and response. The research involves systematically identifying Area-BCM stakeholders and designing interview questions, which are evaluated by experts using the Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) to ensure relevance and clarity. All interview questions surpassed the IOC threshold of 0.5, confirming their effectiveness in capturing information interdependencies. Expert feedback led to refinements in the questions, underscoring the importance of tailored data collection. This initial plan provides a critical foundation for understanding information interdependence and highlights the importance of well-designed data collection methods. The findings have significant implications for developing more resilient disaster management strategies in industrial areas, emphasizing the need for precise and relevant stakeholder communication to enhance Area-BCM effectiveness. © 2024 IEEE.
