Analysis of wear behavior and shear properties of nano – ZnO2/jute fiber/epoxy composites by Hand layup technique

Nano-ZnO2 was added to a jute fiber/epoxy composite whether it affected wear metrics and compressive strength. A silane-coupling agent with an amin-terminated end was used to functionalize the surface of ZnO2 nanoparticles. The modified ZnO2 was characterized employing FTIR spectroscopy and TGA. Using the hand layup method, the multiscale composites were created by distributing different amounts of nanoparticles (0.5, 1, 3, also 5 wt%) in matrix. The 3weight%ZnO2-filled compound has the finest characteristics out of all of these specimens. Adding ZnO2 to the composites caused in a 43 % increase in Compressive property in the short-beam shear test. Adding 3 wt. %ZnO lowered wear rate by 80 % and COF by 48 %. Wear and fracture mechanisms were studied. According to the discoveries of this study, M - ZnO2 is a promising alternative to be employed as a nanofiller in fiber-strengthened polymeric matrix. An epoxy/jute composite was supplemented with nano-ZnO2 to examine the effects on wear metrics and interlaminar shearing strength during dry sliding, according to the study's findings. A silane-coupling agent with an amin-terminated end was used to functionalize the surface of ZnO2 nanoparticles. The modified ZnO2 was characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric studies. Hand layup was used to disperse different quantities of nanoparticles (0.5, 1, 3, also 5 wt%) in the matrix to create the multiscale composites. The 3 wt%ZnO2-filled composite has the finest characteristics out of all of these specimens. © 2022

Monitoring of emerging technologies needs indicators which are more sensitive to changes in context and time. To this purpose, organizations have depended on qualitative expert judgment, but it has increasingly suffered from reduced sensitivity and accuracy. A better way of monitoring is needed. As either alternative or supplement to expert judgment, some researchers suggested various quantitative indicators including number of patents, number of new products and others. However, it is not clear what indicators are good for monitoring of emerging technologies, and how we can identify such indicators because each indicator has advantages as well as disadvantages. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest a method of identifying appropriate quantitative monitoring indicators for emerging technological opportunities. In the existing literature, appropriateness of monitoring indicators can be evaluated from three perspectives: 1) sensitivity to technological changes, 2) sensitivity to changes in external context, and 3) sensitivity to the value of a technological opportunity. In other words, good monitoring indicators send signals when important changes occur. Through literature review, we collect monitoring indicators and their time-series data of two emerging technologies over last nine years. Selected technologies consist of building-integrated photovoltaic module and photovoltaic module. Reviewing existing literature, we construct a pool of monitoring indicators. Using autoregression and correlation analysis, we can choose monitoring indicators that can explain the variance of value of a technological opportunity. Then, sensitivity analysis helps us identify indicators that are sensitive to changes in technology and context For emerging technologies, we find some indicators that are sensitive to more than 70% of changes in technology and external context, but are sensitive to less than 10% of noises. Color is the most important intrinsic sensory feature that has a powerful impact on product sales. Color is even responsible for raising the aesthetic senses in our brains. Account for individual differences is crucial in color aesthetics. It requires user-driven mechanisms for various e-commerce applications. We propose a method for quantitative evaluation of all types of perceptual responses to color(s): distinct color preference, color harmony, and color combination preference. Preference for color schemes can be predicted combining preferences for the basic colors and ratings of color harmony. Harmonious pallets are extracted from big data set using comparison algorithms based on fuzzy similarity and *** proposed model results in useful predictions of harmony and preference of multicolored images. For example, in the context of apparel coordination, it allows predicting a preference for a look based on clothing colors. Our approach differs from standard aesthetic models, since in accounts for a personal variation. An e-Commerce company has been using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for several years, but is still constrained in its implementation, this is reflected in the number of issue/change request tickets submitted by users who have not been able to reach ideal conditions. To overcome this problem, we need an appropriate reference model, the ERP system user acceptance model in companies. The study conducted factors that influence the level of acceptance of SAP ERP users in the XYZ group to then determine a model that is able to explain practically the level of ERP system user acceptance, which in turn can produce concrete proposals to increase ERP system user acceptance. Research is quantitative descriptive using factor analysis and regression analysis methods. The research method uses a questionnaire with a total of 107 valid respondents coming from 8 company names under the XYZ group in 6 Southeast Asian countries. The conclusion of the study is that there are 24 indicators and 4 factors that influence user acceptance of the SAP ERP system. These four factors are the low contribution of the ERP system, the quality of ERP systems and data, the development of ERP systems, and also the low quality of ERP system supporters. It is hoped that by optimizing the value of the 4 factors, the XYZ group can increase user acceptance of the SAP ERP system so that the system can provide benefits expected by the company to be competitive advantage. © 2021 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Student feedback is an important part of service quality of a private university. The purpose of the study was to evaluate undergraduate students' feedback towards service quality of private university. A total of 1555 questionnaires and a total of 201 negative comments were collected from one private university in the Philippines during one academic year. For students' comments, classification schemes were utilized to organize the meaningful categories. It showed that negative personality traits of the employees and poor student accommodation were two most frequent negative comments. Classification schemes were found as a powerful tool to evaluate the students' feedback towards service quality. Finally, that this approach can be applied and extended to analyze students' feedback in different private universities worldwide. © 2022 ACM.

MSStyleTTS: Multi-Scale Style Modeling with Hierarchical Context Information for Expressive Speech Synthesis

Expressive speech synthesis is crucial for many human-computer interaction scenarios, such as audiobooks, pod-casts, and voice assistants. Previous works focus on predicting the style embeddings at one single scale from the information within the current sentence. Whereas, context information in neighboring sentences and multi-scale nature of style in human speech are neglected, making it challenging to convert multi-sentence text into natural and expressive speech. In this paper, we propose MSStyleTTS, a style modeling method for expressive speech synthesis, to capture and predict styles at different levels from a wider range of context rather than a sentence. Two sub-modules, including multi-scale style extractor and multi-scale style predictor, are trained together with a FastSpeech 2 based acoustic model. The predictor is designed to explore the hierarchical context information by considering structural relationships in context and predict style embeddings at global-level, sentence-level and subword-level. The extractor extracts multi-scale style embedding from the ground-truth speech and explicitly guides the style prediction. Evaluations on both in-domain and out-of-domain audiobook datasets demonstrate that the proposed method significantly outperforms the three baselines. Grapheme-to-phoneme (G2P) conversion serves as an essential component in Chinese Mandarin text-to-speech (TTS) system, where polyphone disambiguation is the core issue. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end framework to predict the pronunciation of a polyphonic character, which accepts sentence containing polyphonic character as input in the form of Chinese character sequence without the necessity of any preprocessing. The proposed method consists of a pre-trained bidirectional encoder representations from Transformers (BERT) model and a neural network (NN) based classifier. The pre-trained BERT model extracts semantic features from a raw Chinese character sequence and the NN based classifier predicts the polyphonic character’s pronunciation according to BERT output. In out experiments, we implemented three classifiers, a fully-connected network based classifier, a long short-term memory (LSTM) network based classifier and a Transformer block based classifier. The experimental results compared with the baseline approach based on LSTM demonstrate that, the pre-trained model extracts effective semantic features, which greatly enhances the performance of polyphone disambiguation. In recent years, speech enhancement in the presence of very harsh noise has received a lot of attention. In this paper, an adaptive noise canceller (ANC) having a single-reference and multi-primary channels (SRMP) is introduced to recover the speech signal from its contaminated measurements. This SRMPANC takes a bone-conducted (BC) signal as its reference and adopts multiple noisy air-conducted (AC) speech measurements as its primary signals. The multiple primary channels are connected by a linear combiner (LC) which is optimized and updated by a recursive least square (RLS) algorithm. A linear or a nonlinear filter (e.g. FIR, Volterra, etc.) is equipped in the SRMP-ANC, that is updated by an LMS or LMS-like algorithm. Extensive simulations with real bone-and air-conducted speech measurements are performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed SRMP-ANC. It is revealed that the speech recovery quality is significantly improved as the number of primary channels is increased in terms of both mutual correlation and mean square error (MSE) between the AC speech signal and its recovered version. © 2022 IEEE.

Noise-induced bistability in a simple mutual inhibition system

In this study, we study noise-induced bistability in a simple bivariate mutual inhibition system with slow fluctuating responses to external signals. We give a general condition that the marginal stationary probability density of one of the two variables experiences a transition from a unimodal shape to a bimodal one. We show that the transition occurs even when the stationary probability density of the response to external signals is monotone. The mechanism for the transition is investigated in terms of the calculation of the mean first passage time. We also discuss the genericity of the transition mechanism.
