The issue of security in the use of payment-based technology is considered essential to continue to be studied because of the impact of advances in technology and information. One of the payment methods that is developing in Indonesia is m-fintech. Therefore, this study analyzes the aspects driving the continuance intention of m-fintech payments, namely knowledge, perceived security, and perceived usefulness. This study uses a questionnaire as the primary data to test the hypothesis. Questionnaires were distributed online to 357 consumers using m-fintech payments in Jabodetabek. Therefore, the sampling technique used is purposive. Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0.8.9 software is used to answer the hypothesis. The results of this study prove that knowledge, perceived security, and perceived usefulness are good predictors in explaining the continuance intention of m-fintech payments. In detail, knowledge influenced perceived security, and perceived usefulness influenced the continuance intention of m-fintech payments. Finally, perceived security and usefulness affect the continuance intention of m-fintech payments. These findings contribute to m-fintech payment companies continuing to improve the security of m-fintech payments in line with improvements in technology and information.

Statistical estimations for probability distributions having tails of special shape, such as a double-mode distribution as well as the so-called heavy-tailed or fat-tailed distribution, are quantitatively discussed through virtual experiments using computer simulations. In this paper, a probability distribution describing the damage degree of concrete liners of tunnels in cold region is examined as an example of the double-mode probability distribution. First, virtual data sets of observations are generated by the use of quasi-random numbers for a Pareto distribution as a typical example of the fat-tailed distribution, whereas the actual data set obtained for the damage degree of concrete liners is used for generating virtual data set for the double-mode distribution. Next, statistical estimations are executed by the use of probability papers to identify the probability distribution showing the "best" fitting among supposed plural candidates for probability distributions. Finally, the accuracy of the estimation is quantified by applying the coefficient of determination. The results show that the accuracy of the estimation in the tail region is scarcely improved even if the number of data is increased. © 2023 Society of Materials Science Japan. All rights reserved.

This paper is concerned with personalized pricing models aimed at maximizing the expected revenues or profits for a single item. While it is essential for personalized pricing to predict the purchase probabilities for each consumer, these predicted values are inherently subject to unavoidable errors that can negatively impact the realized revenues and profits. To address this issue, we focus on robust optimization techniques that yield reliable solutions to optimization problems under uncertainty. Specifically, we propose a robust optimization model for personalized pricing that accounts for the uncertainty of predicted purchase probabilities. This model can be formulated as a mixed-integer linear optimization problem, which can be solved exactly using mathematical optimization solvers. We also develop a Lagrangian decomposition algorithm combined with line search to efficiently find high-quality solutions for large-scale optimization problems. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our robust optimization model and highlight the utility of our Lagrangian decomposition algorithm in terms of both computational efficiency and solution quality. In today's disruptive era, where digital systems and the internet are central, assessment methods are transitioning from paper-based to computer-based tests. As digital technology becomes more accessible, there is growing interest in determining whether these new formats provide more effective means of evaluating learning outcomes. To investigate this, we examined performance and objective measures of brain function during both computer-based and paper-based reading comprehension tests. This study focuses on brain function analysis of computer-based and paper-based tests measured by EEG signals. Five healthy students at the Bl CEFR level voluntarily participated in two experimental conditions: paper-based testing (PBT) and computer-based testing (CBT). During the tests, EEG signals were recorded and analyzed using MATLAB to identify various features of brain activity. The results indicate that participants who performed better on paper-based tests showed greater familiarity with the test format. The power spectral density of EEG recordings, along with the average frequency of alpha and beta waves, were positively correlated with test familiarity. Specifically, the correlation coefficients were as follows: CBT-difficult $(r=0.82, p < 0.05)$ , CBT -easy $(r=0.82,p < 0.05)$ , PBT -difficult $(r=0.82, \mathrm{p} < 0.05)$ , and PBT -easy $(r=0.65,p < 0.05)$ .

Compared with traditional two-way decisions, the introduction of a boundary region into the three-way decisions theory makes it possible to reduce decision risk. In this study, we propose a novel three-way decisions model based on cumulative prospect theory and outranking relations. By constructing an outranked set for each alternative and a hybrid multi-criteria decision making matrix, three strategies are proposed by us to design the three-way decisions model. In order to test the effectiveness of the proposed model, we introduce it into a fuzzy multi-period portfolio selection case and design an improved particle swarm optimization as the solution algorithm. Finally, the effectiveness of the algorithm is validated by some test functions and an experiment based on real market data validates the effectiveness of the multi-period portfolio selection model in increasing investment return and reducing risk. © 2022, The Authors. This paper presents the context of the Ubiquitous Computing course carried out in an Industrial engineering undergraduate program throughout 2020 and the first semester of 2021. This course took advantage of the Institutional Modernization Program led by the Control and Automation engineering Undergraduate Program, which consists in the modernization of undergraduate engineering programs at the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná. The course aimed to help develop competencies, i.e., a set of knowledge, skills, and attributes aligned with Student Outcomes suggested by ABET. Also, the course proposal brought the productive sector very close to the academic environment, proposing real engineering problems as challenges. However, what are the methods and assessment tools for practical learning in a course with modern elements? This paper proposed the flipped learning and the Challenge-Based Learning Framework with the support of the CDIO Framework as learning methodologies to answer such question. Additionally, quizzes, tests, presentations, rubrics, and peer evaluation were applied as assessment tools to measure the student's progress. Finally, students were listened to about their perceptions during the course. The results suggested that the learning methodologies and assessment tools are suitable for the course context, although some improvements are expected for the following course offers. Moreover, students approved the initiative to bring in real challenges proposed by companies, the mentoring hours, and the feedback about the projects.

The purpose of this study is to provide a working SaaS application that can be used for sheet materials cutting optimization using heuristics. For the research, literature and open sources in the internet were analyzed. The list of the most common and well-known applications for cutting optimization was formed. The cloud and on premises applications were briefly compared and cloud solutions advantages were highlighted. Few algorithms were chosen and implemented using JavaScript on server-side and deployed, using Amazon Web Services. However, there is a great room for improvement for methods used and implementation of algorithm for automatic cutting method choosing. © 2020 ACM.

Oil and gas industries within the energy sector are a significant contributor to carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, a primary driver of climate change and global warming. However, research on their efforts to combat this issue remains limited. This study investigates climate initiatives by five major oil companies, emphasizing carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS). Analyzing 98,730 patents from 2000 to 2022, the results show that they collectively registered 871 CCUS-related patents. ExxonMobil leads with 359, followed by Shell, though 70 % of its patents are inactive. The primary technical fields of these five companies include technologies developed to capture and dispose of CO2, and to utilize a bio-feedstock approach in the oil refining and petrochemical industry. Our findings reveal that all five companies have strategically integrated CCUS into their business operations, forming partnerships with third-party emitters as partners and customers, and implementing efforts to lower the carbon burden of existing assets. These findings are expected to help with strategic decision-making, guiding targeted investments, and paving the way for future research and development endeavors in the rapidly evolving CCUS domain. © 2024 The Authors

Students can use social media such as Twitter for online learning (E-Learning). This study aims to analyse an accuracy for the sentiments of students about E-Learning who use Indonesian on Twitter social media both positive and negative opinions. The algorithms used are Naive Bayes (NB). Then to optimize the accuracy of the calculation results, the Particle Swarm Optimization (NB-PSO) approach is used. In order to optimize accurate results, this study uses three experimental sequences (scenario 1, scenario 2, and scenario 2) for both NB and NB-PSO algorithms. Each scenario uses different positive and negative comments. The results of the experiment show that in scenario 1 an increase in accuracy is 10.00% for NB-PSO. Scenario 2 there is an increase in accuracy of 13.33% on NB-PSO. Meanwhile, in scenario 3 an increase in accuracy is 27.22% for NB-PSO. These results prove that the accuracy of NB-PSO is better than NB for all scenarios. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved.
