Predicting the daily return direction of the stock market using hybrid machine learning algorithms

Big data analytic techniques associated with machine learning algorithms are playing an increasingly important role in various application fields,including stock market ***,few studies have focused on forecasting daily stock market returns,especially when using powerful machine learning techniques,such as deep neural networks(DNNs),to perform the *** employ various deep learning algorithms based on the combination of network structure,activation function,and model parameters,with their performance depending on the format of the data *** paper presents a comprehensive big data analytics process to predict the daily return direction of the SPDR S&P 500 ETF(ticker symbol:SPY)based on 60 financial and economic *** and traditional artificial neural networks(ANNs)are then deployed over the entire preprocessed but untransformed dataset,along with two datasets transformed via principal component analysis(PCA),to predict the daily direction of future stock market index *** controlling for overfitting,a pattern for the classification accuracy of the DNNs is detected and demonstrated as the number of the hidden layers increases gradually from 12 to ***,a set of hypothesis testing procedures are implemented on the classification,and the simulation results show that the DNNs using two PCA-represented datasets give significantly higher classification accuracy than those using the entire untransformed dataset,as well as several other hybrid machine learning *** addition,the trading strategies guided by the DNN classification process based on PCA-represented data perform slightly better than the others tested,including in a comparison against two standard benchmarks.

The product development process within the automotive industry is subject to changing demands due to internal and external influences. These influences and adjustments especially affect the car body and its inherent joining technology, as critical stages of variant creation. However, current literature does not offer a suitable analytical method to identify and assess these critical influences. We propose an advanced analytics approach that combines data mining and machine learning techniques within the car body substructure. The evaluation within the Mercedes-Benz AG shows that our approach facilitates a quantitative assessment of unknown interdependencies between car body modules and corresponding joining techniques.

This system aims to provide comprehensive care to individuals with paralysis, including symptom monitoring, medical treatment, and rehabilitation. The IoT-based system comprises interconnected devices, such as sensors, wearables, and mobile apps that communicate with one another and with healthcare providers. The system can track patients' vital signs, activity levels, and medication adherence, and provide immediate feedback to healthcare providers. Additionally, the system can aid with rehabilitation exercises, send reminders, and gather data on progress to enhance treatment outcomes. The system's intelligent analytics can also assist healthcare providers in detecting patterns in patient behavior and tailoring treatment plans more effectively. Overall, an IoT-based paralysis healthcare system has the potential to transform healthcare delivery by offering personalized, real-time care and monitoring to individuals with paralysis.

In recent years, toward the realization of the Internet of Things ('IoT') society, related technologies have been developed and various electronic devices are being connected to the network. Even in companies that provide such kinds of products and services, it is possible to collect usage histories of their customers. If the companies can appropriately analyze the usage history data, it is useful for their marketing activities. However, in general, device usage histories are multivariate time-series data, and it is not obvious how to construct a feature space for customer classification and clustering. Therefore, this paper proposes a method to automatically select feature quantities characterizing the properties of customers using machine learning. We apply this method to real data and show its effectiveness. © 2019 IEEE.

The objective of this study is to create a services design of E-Government system that can help Indonesian government to resolve some problems such as diversity platform and application. It causes the island applications that can make decision support processes is not well happen. In this study, we use literature review as an approach to discuss the phenomenon. It is performed by identifying, evaluating, and combining information from several other studies which relevant with this study's research questions. We use services oriented analysis and design approach to discussing the phenomenon. The ability of Service-oriented Architecture to connect multiple services between diversity systems and it can help the enterprise application travelling in Indonesian government. The case in this study is travelling system in Indonesia Government. The results in this study are the conceptual services for Travelling System using SOA approach and ESB Technology. Experiment and Large-Eddy Simulation on Free Air Jets Issuing from a Rectangular Nozzle with Deflectors

The purpose of the present study was to establish a passive flow control method for a rectangular jet using two types of deflectors installed symmetrically inside a nozzle. This deflector in a rectangular nozzle generates the rectangular coaxial jets. The effect of the slant angle of the deflectors on the flow characteristics and the spread of the rectangular jet was investigated experimentally and by large-eddy simulation. The experiment and the numerical simulation were carried out at a Reynolds number of 9000. The rectangular jet with no deflectors generates a vortex ring from the nozzle exit. The vortex ring collapses in the downstream region and the outline of the jet changes from rectangular to diamond-shaped as a result of the axis-switching phenomenon. The rectangular jet with divergent and convergent deflectors shows particularly noticeable changes in the flow characteristics and vortical structures, as compared to the case with no deflectors. In the case of the rectangular jet with divergent deflectors (slant angle of α = 6°), minor axis spread is promoted more than major axis spread, and axis switching occurs closer to the nozzle exit than that in the case of no deflectors. The outline of the jet also changes from lateral rectangular to vertical rectangular as a result of axis switching. On the other hand, in the case of a rectangular jet with convergent deflectors (α = -6°), minor axis spread is suppressed more than major axis spread, and axis switching occurs farther from the nozzle exit than that in the case with no deflectors. Towards multi-scale style control for expressive speech synthesis

This paper introduces a multi-scale speech style modeling method for end-to-end expressive speech synthesis. The proposed method employs a multi-scale reference encoder to extract both the global-scale utterance-level and the local-scale quasi-phoneme-level style features of the target speech, which are then fed into the speech synthesis model as an extension to the input phoneme sequence. During training time, the multi-scale style model could be jointly trained with the speech synthesis model in an end-to-end fashion. By applying the proposed method to style transfer task, experimental results indicate that the controllability of the multi-scale speech style model and the expressiveness of the synthesized speech are greatly improved. Moreover, by assigning different reference speeches to extraction of style on each scale, the flexibility of the proposed method is further revealed. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are among the promising alternatives for clean energy generation, especially when hydrogen is the fuel used. Their operation is still faced with several challenges, and one of them is water accumulation in the cathode compartment. If PEMFCs are operated at temperatures above the boiling point of water, a significant obstacle would be eliminated due to the formation of water in the vapor phase. This prevents water from accumulating in the liquid phase which causes flooding. Therefore, this work aims to develop a novel composite membrane based on zirconium silicate (ZrSiO₄) and Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) for such high-temperature operation. The composite membrane was synthesized using solution casting, and its structural and chemical properties were characterized using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. The ZrSiO₄/PVDF membrane demonstrated a maximum proton conductivity of 2.14 × 10⁻³ S/cm at room temperature with 8 wt% ZrSiO₄, along with a water uptake value of 43.85 %. Consequently, when tested above the boiling point of water, the membrane exhibited a high conductivity of 2.13 × 10⁻³ S/cm at 105 °C. The results suggest the suitability of such zirconium silicate-based composite membranes for fuel cell applications operating above the boiling point of water. © 2024 The Author(s)

The current, important global issues include 'global warming,' 'population increase,' and 'food shortage.' Japan, however, experiences problems such as 'declining birthrate and aging,' 'declining agricultural workers,' and 'increasing abandoned cultivation land.' In this study, we developed a new 'EZ hydroponic culture method' to solve these problems. In this unique flooded agriculture system, many permeable pots with one seedling, together with fertilizer and culture medium, are mounted on a foamed polystyrene plate and floated on the surface of the water. Its characteristics are high profitability, low initial investment amount, low labor load, and low environmental load. However, this new hydroponic cultivation method differs considerably from traditional agricultural systems in terms of not only technical aspects but also management. It becomes even more prominent by collecting big data using internet of things (IoT) technology and drones as well as artificial intelligence (AI). Therefore, the construction of a new business ecosystem strategy becomes increasingly important. In this research, we proposed the 'EZ hydroponic cultivation business ecosystem strategy' using the 'Five Frameworks for Constructing Keystone Strategy' proposed by PICMET 2018. Furthermore, its effectiveness was confirmed based on three key performance indicators (productivity, robustness, and niche creation). © 2019 PICMET.
