Welding is both as art and science and its common use is the jointing of points. Some of the welding procedures used for jointing metal pipes are Tungsten Inert Gas and Gas Metal Arc welding and in common practice plastic pipes are bonded with the use of butt-fusion welding procedure. Since 1970’s conjoint analysis was used as a way of finding out what the preference of consumers. The objective of this study is to determine the combination welding attributes that were most preferred using a conjoint analysis approach. With conjoint analysis, together with, the orthogonal design the preference for welding materials and procedures were analyzed. It showed that pipe material with 29.24% was the most preferred attribute and Nondestructive test as the least preferred with 2.66%. The result of this study may be utilized in future related reviews and could be applicable in other related Mechanical systems requiring welding works. © 2024 IEEE.

Organizations face an urgent need to become faster, more efficient, and more successful in their commercial operations, given the current state of technological evolution and the arrival of Industry 4.0. Many businesses have adopted the idea of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to achieve this goal. The ERP system is expected to increase worker productivity, improve business performance to maximize profitability and profits, and provide accurate and up-to-date data and information to management and stakeholders. This research aims to find new variables related to integration problems in the use of ERP systems. Using the SPSS statistical program, the data collected will be examined using quantitative exploratory factor analysis (EFA). Data processing then includes collecting demographic information from respondents, reliability testing, conducting the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) test, testing using an anti-image matrix, and deriving new factors using a rotation component matrix. This research seeks to identify new elements underlying ongoing integration problems in ERP system implementation. The research results show several reasons for underlying integration problems and offer in-depth information to management that can be used to analyze and evaluate the ERP system in their company appropriately in the future so that the company's performance becomes superior to the competition. © 2024 IEEE.

Today, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is known as a critical element of supply chain (SC) operations. In this article, we analytically study an SC coordination problem with social efforts for charity. The proposed SC includes one retailer and one manufacturer in which the manufacturer gives donations to a nongovernmental organization (NGO) in two forms, namely a lump sum amount plus a per-sold-item donation amount. While CSR efforts have been considered as an abstract concept in prior studies, this article contributes to the literature by specifically exploring an SC with an NGO in the form of two types of donations as CSR activities. The problem is first modeled under a decentralized decision-making setting in which each member focuses on its own profit. The second model is developed under the centralized decision-making structure in which the whole SC profit under the centralized scenario is improved. To achieve Pareto-improving channel coordination, a cooperative donation program using a combined 'wholesale price and cost-sharing' contract is proposed. Our analytically proven results demonstrate that the proposed SC coordination contract can achieve Pareto improvement. Moreover, we prove that the NGO receives more donations under the proposed contract. Therefore, the proposed contract is beneficial to both the SC members and the NGO. In the extended model, we investigate the case under the endogenous 'low/high pricing regimes' and reveal that the main findings remain robust. Managerial insights and implications are discussed. © 1988-2012 IEEE.

In the current day, digital transformation is imperative;both customer demand and market competitiveness are mostly driving that trend. The fourth industrial revolution has also affected the financial sector. One difficulty that has to be addressed is the desire from customers for quick and useful services. Traditional procedures need to be replaced with digital ones. Furthermore, banking organizations will have a competitive edge in the current market if they are successful in this digital transformation process. Successful transformation, however, does not happen by accident;in fact, the likelihood of completing this change is seen to be very low, necessitating rigorous planning for a company that is ready for the future. There are several components to the preparation in question, both internal and external. In this situation, the company's ability to combine and rearrange its resources quickly is essential for adapting to the ever-changing business environment. © 2024 IEEE.

This study aimed to examine the factors influencing the acceptance of eLearning platforms in medical education during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines, using the latent variables from the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) and two additional variables derived from relevant literature. A total of 360 medical students participated by completing an online survey comprising 40 questions. The analysis, conducted using stepwise multiple linear regression, revealed that Performance Expectancy (PE), Habit (HB), and Instructor Characteristics (IC) were significant predictors of Actual Use (AU) with an accuracy of 54.22%. Higher levels of PE, HB, and IC were found to positively influence the acceptance and utilization of medical eLearning platforms. The findings from this study can provide valuable insights for the Commission on Higher Education in the Philippines, aiding in the enhancement of eLearning platforms for medical education. Although this research primarily focused on UTAUT2 and two additional variables-Learning Value and Instructor Characteristics-the results offer substantial implications for the broader development of eLearning platforms in the medical field. © 2024 IEEE.

Automated classification of music-genre is a very active research topic, as it is significant in music information retrieval system. There is lots of research done in classifying western music genre. India has a heritage of rich music culture, from Purana's, Veda's, to modern times, music is an essential part of Indian households. In India, Music genre differs with the change in geographical area because of different cultures, religions, languages etc. This makes automating human classification abilities for classifying various music-genre a hard task. There is also very few data set to work on, for Indian Music Classification. In this work, we are releasing a database for Indian songs genre (Bollywood Romantic, Rap, Bhajan, Garhwali, Ghazal, Bhojpuri and Sufi) classification and compare the performance of different ML algorithms (KNN, Neural Network, Gradient Boosting, SVM and Light GBM) for the classification task. Light GBM classifier gives the best accuracy of 87.2 %. © 2024 IEEE.

Using data from top businesses, this article investigates supply chain management improvements essential for a sustainable energy transition. Robust supply chain solutions are necessary for a sustainable energy transition to fulfill social expectations and solve environmental concerns. We analyze the changing dynamics of a pool of 49 nations where green bonds have been issued between 2005 and 2022. The report highlights creative supply chain management (SCM) strategies that are essential for managing the challenges of integrating sustainable energy sources by analyzing lessons from well-known businesses. Key tactics include using renewable energy sources, embracing the circular economy, and working with stakeholders. Based on these instances, this paper provides insights for firms seeking to manage the energy transition's difficulties while preserving sustainability and competitiveness. Through the synthesis of top industry executives' experiences, this study offers essential direction for developing future renewable energy supply chains.

Expressive speech synthesis is crucial for many human-computer interaction scenarios, such as audiobooks, podcasts, and voice assistants. Previous works focus on predicting the style embeddings at one single scale from the information within the current sentence. Whereas, context information in neighboring sentences and multi-scale nature of style in human speech are neglected, making it challenging to convert multi-sentence text into natural and expressive speech. In this article, we propose MSStyleTTS, a style modeling method for expressive speech synthesis, to capture and predict styles at different levels from a wider range of context rather than a sentence. Two sub-modules, including multi-scale style extractor and multi-scale style predictor, are trained together with a FastSpeech 2 based acoustic model. The predictor is designed to explore the hierarchical context information by considering structural relationships in context and predict style embeddings at global-level, sentence-level and subword-level. The extractor extracts multi-scale style embedding from the ground-truth speech and explicitly guides the style prediction. Evaluations on both in-domain and out-of-domain audiobook datasets demonstrate that the proposed method significantly outperforms the three baselines. In addition, we conduct the analysis of the context information and multi-scale style representations that have never been discussed before. © 2014 IEEE.

Few-shot text classification has seen significant advancements, particularly with entailment-based methods, which typically use either class labels or intensional definitions of class labels in hypotheses for label semantics expression. In this paper, we propose EDEntail, a method that employs extensional definition (EDef) of class labels in hypotheses, aiming to express the semantics of class labels more explicitly. To achieve the above goal, we develop an algorithm to gather and select extensional descriptive words of class labels and then order and format them into a sequence to form hypotheses. Our method has been evaluated and compared with state-of-the-art models on five classification datasets. The results demonstrate that our approach surpasses the supervised-learning methods and prompt-based methods under the few-shot setting, which underlines the potential of using an extensional definition of class labels for entailment-based few-shot text classification.
