The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) is the most ambitious multilateral agreement on biodiversity to date. It calls for a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach to halt and reverse biodiversity loss worldwide. The GBF's monitoring framework lays out how Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity are expected to report on their progress. An expert group convened by the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group (AHTEG) on Indicators, provided guidance on its implementation, including a gap analysis to identify the strengths and limitations of the indicators in the monitoring framework. We present the results of the AHTEG gap analysis and provide recommendations on implementing and improving monitoring of the GBF. We compare three implementation scenarios, from worst-case to best-case: (1) Parties only report on required headline and binary indicators; (2) Parties also report on all headline indicator disaggregations and (3) Parties additionally report on all optional component and complementary indicators. In each case, the monitoring framework covers (1) between 19-40%, (2) 22-41% and (3) 29-47% of the elements in the GBF's goals and targets. Even in the best-case scenario (3), no indicators are available for 12% of the GBF's elements. In practice, the coverage and thus effectiveness of the monitoring framework will depend on which indicators (required and optional) and disaggregations countries apply. Substantial investment is required to collect the necessary data to compute indicators, infer change and effectively monitor progress. We highlight important next steps to progressively improve the efficacy of the monitoring framework.

Recognizing recent drastic change of agriculture business environment in Japan happened after the revision of the Japanese Agricultural Land Act enforced in 2009, challenging farmers are trying to learn and implement the way of management developed in Japanese manufacturing industries such as Lean management Scheme. This study, through investigation of the case agricultural process of a collaborating company, proposes some models of loss visualization with a way of level production (Heijunka) which is a critical concept for coping with customer satisfaction issues and profitable business making simultaneously. In addition, performance of the proposed system is evaluated for its validation through simulation experiments.

The Body Appreciation Scale-2 (BAS-2) is a widely used measure of a core facet of the positive body image construct. However, extant research concerning measurement invariance of the BAS-2 across a large number of nations remains limited. Here, we utilised the Body Image in Nature (BINS) dataset - with data collected between 2020 and 2022 - to assess measurement invariance of the BAS-2 across 65 nations, 40 languages, gender identities, and age groups. Multi-group confirmatory factor analysis indicated that full scalar invariance was upheld across all nations, languages, gender identities, and age groups, suggesting that the unidimensional BAS-2 model has widespread applicability. There were large differences across nations and languages in latent body appreciation, while differences across gender identities and age groups were negligible-to-small. Additionally, greater body appreciation was significantly associated with higher life satisfaction, being single (versus being married or in a committed relationship), and greater rurality (versus urbanicity). Across a subset of nations where nation-level data were available, greater body appreciation was also significantly associated with greater cultural distance from the United States and greater relative income inequality. These findings suggest that the BAS-2 likely captures a near-universal conceptualisation of the body appreciation construct, which should facilitate further cross-cultural research.

Drastic changes in global warming and natural disasters all around the world have yielded an interest in usage of renewable and sustainable energy. Out of all the types of renewable energy, the usage of solar power generation has been rapidly growing in recent years. However, since solar power is acutely affected by weather conditions, smart grid systems that can stabilize each house's electricity supply and demand balance are accumulating interest. In smart grid systems, storage batteries have an important role in stabilization, and its costs and management problems have emerged. From the points above, this study will take a look at utilizing electric vehicle's storage batteries, which its technology has been rapidly advancing recently, and construct a model of such smart grids. Upon further research, this study will point out the relationship between the necessary solar panels and storage capacity when acknowledging about stabilized smart grids. Its effects and problems on the application of such systems in real life will be also discussed.

In this paper, we studythe properties of partial periodic pattern mining and extend the original problem to high-utility partial periodic pattern mining (HUPPP), which considers not only the occurring time order and periodic length of events but also the quantities and individual profits of the events. Based on the periodic utility function, we have presented a mining algorithm for finding high-utility partial periodic patterns. The algorithm uses the two-phased periodic utility upper-bound (PUUB) model to avoid information loss in the mining process. Finally, the experimentsmade to show the performance of the proposed algorithm under various parameter settings. © 2017 ACM.

Improving the quality of human capital in transport is closely related to the development of the ability of transport specialists to self-regulation. The training of modern, qualified transport specialists (as human capital development strategy) requires no less highly qualified teachers and managers, capable of not only managing others, but also themselves. In modern socio-cultural space, researchers pay special attention to the preservation and development of man as the highest value, the recognition and upholding of him as the highest value on earth. Such an understanding assumes the professionalism of consultative interaction with the client as a person, partner and professional, based on a detailed analysis of the characteristics and properties, processes and results of human activities. Appeal to followers in understanding the human mental life is associated with well-known methods for diagnosing and transforming the most complex internal world of a person, as well as the features, processes and results of the interaction of the internal and external worlds surrounding a person. Psychological comprehension of a person, penetration into the matrix structures of his personal, interpersonal and professional formation and development is sometimes serious difficulties, so our appeal to the psychodynamic and behavioural models of self-regulation, as well as in social and individual psychology and their methods, is dictated by these ideas. The appeal to classical conceptual constructs, in particular, modern and traditional domestic and foreign psychology, allows us to comprehend and practically develop methods and methods of immersion in the mental world of a person, his research, as well as subsequent transformation and development.

Background: Diarrhoeal diseases claim more than 1 million lives annually and are a leading cause of death in children younger than 5 years. Comprehensive global estimates of the diarrhoeal disease burden for specific age groups of children younger than 5 years are scarce, and the burden in children older than 5 years and in adults is also understudied. We used results from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2021 to assess the burden of, and trends in, diarrhoeal diseases overall and attributable to 13 pathogens, as well as the contributions of associated risk factors, in children and adults in 204 countries and territories from 1990 to 2021. Methods: We used the Cause of Death Ensemble modelling strategy to analyse vital registration data, verbal autopsy data, mortality surveillance data, and minimally invasive tissue sampling data. We used DisMod-MR (version 2.1), a Bayesian meta-regression tool, to analyse incidence and prevalence data identified via systematic reviews, population-based surveys, and claims and inpatient data. We calculated diarrhoeal disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) as the sum of years of life lost (YLLs) and years lived with disability (YLDs) for each location, year, and age–sex group. For aetiology estimation, we used a counterfactual approach to quantify population-attributable fractions (PAFs). Additionally, we estimated the diarrhoeal disease burden attributable to the independent effects of risk factors using the comparative risk assessment framework. Findings: In 2021, diarrhoeal diseases caused an estimated 1·17 million (95% uncertainty interval 0·793–1·62) deaths globally, representing a 60·3% (50·6–69·0) decrease since 1990 (2·93 million [2·31–3·73] deaths). The most pronounced decline was in children younger than 5 years, with a 79·2% (72·4–84·6) decrease in diarrhoeal deaths. Potential critical risks of cascading failures in power systems can be identified by exposing those critical electrical elements on which certain initial disturbances may cause maximum disruption to power transmission networks. In this work, we investigate cascading failures in power systems described by the direct current (DC) power ow equations, while initial disturbances take the form of altering admittance of elements. The disruption is quantified with the remaining transmission power at the end of cascading process. In particular, identifying the critical elements and the corresponding initial disturbances causing the worst-case cascading blackout is formulated as a dynamic optimization problem (DOP) in the framework of optimal control theory, where the entire propagation process of cascading failures is put under consideration. An Identifying Critical Risk Algorithm (ICRA) based on the maximum principle is proposed to solve the DOP. Deci-hertz Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (DECIGO) is the future Japanese space mission with a frequency band of 0.1 Hz to 10 Hz. DECIGO aims at the detection of primordial gravitational waves, which could be produced during the inflationary period right after the birth of the universe. There are many other scientific objectives of DECIGO, including the direct measurement of the acceleration of the expansion of the universe, and reliable and accurate predictions of the timing and locations of neutron star/black hole binary coalescences. DECIGO consists of four clusters of observatories placed in the heliocentric orbit. Each cluster consists of three spacecraft, which form three Fabry-Perot Michelson interferometers with an arm length of 1,000 km. Three clusters of DECIGO will be placed far from each other, and the fourth cluster will be placed in the same position as one of the three clusters to obtain the correlation signals for the detection of the primordial gravitational waves. We plan to launch B-DECIGO, which is a scientific pathfinder of DECIGO, before DECIGO in the 2030s to demonstrate the technologies required for DECIGO, as well as to obtain fruitful scientific results to further expand the multi-messenger astronomy. Settlement of distribution centre (DC) problem in order to support large-scale logistic operation was offered by the joint research company, in which derivation of optimal placement assuming the shuttle transportation between multiple DCs and customers is desired. In this study, area constrained DC placement problem is often discussed in logistics industry is picked up and, aiming to the effectiveness of the proposed solution, the solving model based on genetic algorithm (GA) is developed followed by its application to the case problems. Various cases are supposed such as the case that part of the position of DC is specified, the case that the area should be covered by the DC and the case that there is more than one DC. Logistics industry, in general, desires to developing the design model corresponding to these conditions.
