The ability of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to accurately discriminate between normal and tumorous brain tissues has been promising. The review focuses on the different CNN models, pre-processing methods, data augmentation, and Transfer Learning (TL) strategies used in this research. This Systematic Literature Review (SLR) collected the data from Google Scholar. The results of this study indicate that open-source datasets from Kaggle and Brain MRI Images for Brain Tumor Detection are the most used datasets. However, limited data and imbalanced class problems remain common challenges across various datasets. To overcome those challenges, using a larger dataset, oversampling, Generative Adversarial Network (GAN), federated learning, and Self-Supervised Learning (SSL) to handle the imbalance are the potential solution. Additionally, popular CNN architectures for brain tumor classification extensively use pre-trained models such as VGG16, VGG19, DenseNet121, DenseNet201, GoogleNet, ResNet-50, and Inception-v3. TL strategies are preferred, allowing CNNs to leverage knowledge from large datasets, improving generalization even with limited labeled data.

Information engineering strategies play a significant and transformative role in shaping the landscape of digital agriculture. It drives innovation and efficiency in modern farming practices, with a specific focus on enhancing the value of agricultural commodities, such as sugarcane. The application of mobile technology plays a crucial part in achieving increased sugarcane productivity. Mobile applications, equipped with advanced developer features, offer rapid and user-friendly access to vital information. Traditional methods of estimating sugarcane production relied on manual data recording on paper, followed by data transfer to computer systems, typically managed by sugar factory junior plant officers. This conventional approach presents several inherent weaknesses, including time and effort intensiveness during data recording and entry. Additionally, the potential for errors in calculation and data input is a concern. The storage capacity for paper-based documents is finite, and farmers are often unable to autonomously assess their production potential. The objective of this research is to confront these obstacles by creating a sugarcane production application for Android. This application functions as an information engineering approach focused on forecasting sugarcane yields for plantation owners and their assistants. The development procedure adhered to the systematic waterfall method, following the principles of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) model. Data collection was carried out through observations, while interviews with junior plant officers provided valuable insights into sugarcane estimation techniques. Analysis involved the synthesis of observational and interview data to inform the design of the application's interface and algorithmic system. The resulting application significantly simplifies the process of estimating production potential for farmers, enabling them to access sugarcane productivity data during harvest. Consequently, sugar

Air pollution is a pressing issue in cities, and managing air quality poses a challenge for urban designers and decision-makers. This study proposes a Digital Twin (DT) Smart City integrated with Mixed Reality technology to enhance visualization and collaboration for addressing urban air pollution. The research adopts an applied research approach, with a focus on developing a DT framework. A use case of DT development for Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, is presented. By integrating air quality data, meteorological information, traffic patterns, and urban infrastructure data, the DT provides a comprehensive understanding of air pollution dynamics. The visualization capabilities of the DT, utilizing Mixed Reality technology, facilitate effective decision-making and the identification of strategies for managing air quality. However, further research is needed to address data management challenges to build a DT for Smart City at scale.

Understanding the mechanistic interpretability of mutation effects in a protein can help predict the clinical implications of the genetic variants. Hence, computational variant effect predictions that involve protein structural features of the protein mutations might be suitable in this case. In this work, we focus on BRCT domains of BRCA1 gene that is widely studied in breast cancer studies. We retrieved 88 selected missense variants found in BRCT domains annotated in both ClinVar and gnomAD databases. To computationally characterize the pathogenic property of the mutations we used two types of features extracted from protein structures: a change in free Gibbs energy and a set of features derived from molecular dynamics simulations of each mutant. Using a dimensional reduction and Gaussian mixture model (GMM)-based clustering we demonstrate that the variants are segregated into two regions that may correspond to their pathogenic status. This method can be a potential computational pipeline for providing the preliminary mechanistic interpretation of mutation effects in terms of their thermodynamic and structural features.

As one of the largest exporters in the world, cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) production in Indonesia provides an important contribution to the plantation sector that can, directly and indirectly, attribute to the national economic development. However, recent data shows a decline in cocoa productivity in Indonesia. This is arguably caused by various factors, including poor agricultural management and practices in cocoa plantations, that may lead to lower fertility in the soil and an increased risk of diseases and pests. Potassium deficiency is a major contributing factor to the low soil fertility that affects cocoa yields. Therefore, in this work, we implement an application with an expert system utilizing the forward chaining method to detect potassium deficiency in cocoa plants and then give a fertilization-based recommendation based on the plants’ condition. The system employs a set of rules to identify symptoms related to the deficiency on the sample photo of a cocoa leaf according to the channels of red, green, and blue of the image. The sample images of cocoa leaves are submitted to the application with an easy-to-use interface that can show the scanning result and proceed to display the suggested quantity of fertilizers to prevent potassium deficiency. Implementing the system can contribute constructive impacts to improve current practices in the overall cropping system of cocoa plants.

The future trend in achieving precision medicine involves the development of non-invasive cancer biomarker sensors that offer high accuracy, low cost, and time-saving benefits for risk clarification, early detection, disease detection, and therapeutic monitoring. A facile approach for the synthesis of MoO3 nanosheets was developed by thermally oxidizing MoS2 nanosheets in air followed by thermal annealing. Subsequently, Au@MnO2 nanocomposites were prepared using a combined hydrothermal process and in situ chemical synthesis. In this study, we present a novel immunosensor design strategy involving the immobilization of antiHSP70 antibodies on Au@MnO2/MoO3 nanocomposites modified on a screen-printed electrode (SPE) using EDC/NHS chemistry. This study establishes HSP70 as a potential biomarker for monitoring therapeutic response during anticancer therapy. Impedance measurements of HSP70 on the Au@MnO2/MoO3/SPE immunosensor using EIS showed an increase in impedance with an increase in HSP70 concentration. The electrochemical immunosensor demonstrated a good linear response in the range of 0.001 to 1000 ng mL−1 with a detection limit of 0.17 pg mL−1 under optimal conditions. Moreover, the immunosensor was effective in detecting HSP70 at low concentrations in a lung adenocarcinoma cell line following Paclitaxel treatment, indicating its potential for early detection of the HSP70 biomarker in organ-on-a-chip and clinical applications. © 2023 The Royal Society of Chemistry.

Automatic question generation for bahasa indonesia examination using copynet

In educational institutions, an educator is responsible for assessing the student's knowledge grasp through examination. Creating exam questions, even the low-level factoid questions, is time-consuming, especially for inexperienced educators. Therefore, this study aims to create a sequence-to-sequence model using CopyNet by exploiting its copying mechanism advantage to automatically generate Bahasa Indonesia factoid questions to ease the educator's burden. Indonesian records in the TyDi QA dataset are used as the model input. GRU and Bi-GRU are employed as the CopyNet encoder, while LSTM is used as the CopyNet decoder. The model that utilizes GRU as the encoder achieves BLEU1, BLEU2, BLEU3, BLEU4, and ROUGE-L scores of 0.28, 0.19, 0.14, 0.1, and 0.32, respectively. Bi-GRU utilization as the model encoder achieves BLEU1, BLEU2, BLEU3, BLEU4, and ROUGE-L scores of 0.26, 0.17, 0.12, 0.09, and 0.30, respectively. Models using either encoder still achieve low scores. However, compared with the previous work, the result is still on par regarding the BLEU score. Further examination found that the generated questions do not adhere to semantic and syntactical correctness. Adding more records to the dataset and utilizing a more advanced architecture like CopyBERT are encouraged to improve the model performance in future work. Despite the result, this study has shown that CopyNet, primarily designed for text summarization or single-turn dialogue, can be tailored for factoid question generation.

In growing populations, the fate of mutations depends on their competitive ability against the ancestor and their ability to colonize new territory. Here we present a theory that integrates both aspects of mutant fitness by coupling the classic description of one-dimensional competition (Fisher equation) to the minimal model of front shape (KPZ equation). We solved these equations and found three regimes, which are controlled solely by the expansion rates, solely by the competitive abilities, or by both. Aircraft avionics systems are complicated systems which involves high number of components and complex cable assembly procedure. To deal with this challenge, Augmented Reality (AR) has been proposed to be an effective method to improve assembly efficiency and to reduce error rates. In this paper, the authors developed AR-based guidance cable assembly and compare the impact of different modes of AR information. The results show that although AR outperformed the paper document assembly guidance, the design of AR information has distinct influence on the successful completion of the cables assembly process. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

The GDNQ motif is mainly found in nonsegmented (-)ssRNA viruses and plays a role in the catalytic and polymerase activity pathways. However, in some recently reported dsRNA mycoviruses, the GDNQ motif of the (-)ssRNA virus group is found instead of the GDD motif commonly found in the dsRNA virus group. Therefore, in this study, data mining techniques were used to explore the mutation tendency of a specific region in the virus taxonomic groups. Viral protein sequences were obtained from the NCBI Virus data repository, and the performance of several known string-searching algorithms (BF, KMP, and BM) was evaluated to establish an optimal strategy for extracting useful information from sequence big data. Then, the pattern-matching performance of the algorithm was tested to detect whether the conserved region sequence was a common motif type or a mutated motif type. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the BF method produced the fastest results. However, the BM method recorded higher accuracy. Through the virus mutation tendency derived from the analysis results, it was confirmed that 7.1% of dsRNA viruses had a mutated motif type based on the total data analyzed and that it was relatively recent that ssRNA virus motif variants began to be discovered in dsRNA viruses. It is expected that additional in-depth analysis of the host range and infection route of viruses with the mutation will help understand the evolution of dsRNA and ssRNA mycoviruses. © 2022 IEEE.
