The advent of Chat-GPT, an AI-driven technology, is reshaping various sectors, particularly higher education. This study, merging the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) with the Protection Motivation Theory (PMT), explores the relationship between technology adoption and protection motivation in higher education, addressing the concept of "the (un)knowledgeable, the (un)skilled." Through Structural Equation Modeling, findings from Indonesian participants (N = 445), including students and lecturers, reveal that perceived benefits such as task efficiency, hedonic motivation, performance expectancy, and effort expectancy predominantly motivate Chat-GPT use. Risk perception leans more on perceived vulnerability than severity, with insignificant impact from response cost. Response efficacy and self-efficacy significantly determine intention. Insight from moderating effect of educational level suggest that doctoral-level users demonstrate increased Chat-GPT usage, and gender plays a role in response efficacy and task efficiency. Both educational level and gender actively influence users’ intentions and actual usage behavior. These insights guide educators, policymakers, and institutions in ethically integrating AI, managing evolving risk perceptions, and empowering users in the dynamic AI landscape of higher education. Policymakers (e.g., university boards) are urged to dexterity an ethical framework and authorize in user efficacy to ensure equitable access and benefits from Chat-GPT in education. © 2024 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

This study focuses on the preferences that motivate users to join different social networks analyzing the benefits that enhance the acceptance and usability of alternative social tools. WhatsApp was selected as the object of study which a qualitative research was conducted in two stages: (1) netnographic approach and (2) in-depth interviews. The results describe the usability of mobile virtual networks, concerning technological multifunctionality, which impacts the process of choosing the technology. In addition, perceptions of risk and gratifications are discussed, with risks including procrastination and privacy concerns, and gratifications including entertainment, social interaction, and relationship-building with the WhatsApp usage. © 2021 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

Does endorsement rhetoric matter in citizen science?

This study analyzed the influence of rhetoric in the endorsement text on the willingness of the crowd to participate in citizen science projects. Four categories of endorsers were studied: professors, students, industrial researchers, and amateur researchers. Using 1243 endorsement texts from 543 citizen science projects as the corpus, the effects of the standalone techniques (ethos, pathos, and logos) and mixed-rhetoric techniques of persuasion were examined empirically. The results informed that pathos and logos had significant advantages over ethos. Taking a mixed-rhetoric approach to the endorsement text with a mix of pathos (55%) and logos (45%) maximized the appeal of citizen science projects, and the influence of this approach had an inverted U-shaped effect. On the identity of the endorsers, the professors, students, and amateur researchers shared a similar rhetorical approach, while the industrial researchers shared another. However, from the influence of endorsement rhetorical strategies, the impact of amateur researchers was consistent with that of the industrial researchers (both pathos and logos were positive);and professors (only logos was positive) and students (only pathos was positive) reveal some differences. Finally, endorsement rhetoric strategies exerted a greater influence on the humanities and social science projects than on the natural science projects. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Indonesia’s high Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and İnfant Mortality Rate (IMR) are major health concerns. In Indonesia’s 2020, MMR was 199/100,000 live births, exceeding the 2015–2030 global target of 70/100,000. Geographic Information Systems (GISs) maternal and infant health are useful in mapping and evaluating pregnant women’s locations to determine health facility access. This study aimed to describe the use of GIS to map pregnant women, risky pregnant women, and the distance to the nearest health facility in a remote rural Indonesian area. The study used descriptive quantitative surveying. This study focused on rural pregnant women in Bulukumba, South Sulawesi. The sampling method used the total population. This study uses ArcGIS to find coordinates points using latitude and longitude points. Descriptive analysis to be used maps pregnant women’s risk of accessing health facilities. Results this research, using GIS to map pregnant women, especially high-risk ones, to shelters and health facilities found 47.7% have a risk of pregnancy, 34.9% get to the hospital in 50–60 min, and 1.1% above 60 min. GIS mapping in rural pregnant women can monitor high-risk pregnancies, but it must be enhanced continuously. GIS in health, especially for mothers and children, can help the government present health equality policies by estimating distance and time to access health facilities, especially in specific geographic locations, with decreased MMR and improving maternal and child health. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Cell therapy is an emerging therapy that uses the differentiation and proliferation properties of stem cells to repair organ or tissue damage to treat specific diseases. In terms of regenerative treatment using stem cells, vigorous clinical trials are currently underway, and future industrialization is expected. The purpose of this study is to understand the feasibility of regenerative medicine industry by using USPTO data to analyze the global patent trends of four important technologies: mesenchymal stem cells, exosomes, iPSC and CAR-T. Subsequently, interviews were conducted with experts from the Taiwan Cellular Medicine Association, experts from the Stem Cell Society, physician supervisors of hospital cell therapy centers, and heads of cell preparation biotechnology companies, and other stakeholders to analyze the industry-university cooperation model of the regenerative medicine industry through the quadruple helix value creation model. The role played by the principal investigator, how social ties, e.g. “Simmelian Ties”, have become the key success factor of industry-university cooperation, and how external factors such as “Boundary Work” affect the operation of industry-university cooperation, and provide feasible suggestions for practice.

In recent years, research on live streaming has developed rapidly among scholars. Especially scholars are increasingly interested in understanding consumer behaviors regarding purchasing behavior on live streaming platforms, which is classified as transactional behavior. A separate consideration is a non-transactional behavior, as there are currently many live-streaming platforms that are not only used for sales activities but also to broadcast games, cooking, and eating activities, which do not focus on consumer behavior in live-streaming activities. This study investigates consumers' non-transactional behavior (e.g., stickiness behavior) on live streaming platforms using socio-technical theory and trust transfer. This study tested the hypothesis on 285 Indonesian participants participating in various live-streaming activities across various platforms. Data analysis was performed using a structural equation modeling approach using Smart-PLS 4.0 software. In the study, interactivity and visualization significantly impacted cognitive trust more than affective trust. Although cognitive trust significantly impacts affective trust, it will also similarly impact consumers when they already possess it. The study also confirms that both types of trust increase stickiness behaviors. This is primarily because building cognitive trust is a priority for trust transfer. Therefore, it can increase stickiness behavior and affective trust, which, in this study, evolve significant managerial implications. © 2023 IEEE.

While the philosophy of deterrence has long been rooted in the criminal justice system and has informed policy and programming, the results of such strategies have been mixed. A handful of research efforts have focused on the relationship between various deterrence perspectives and cyberbullying;however, few address this issue in a non-Western context. To develop a more comprehensive assessment of cyberbullying deterrence and perceptions of punishment among adolescents, this study utilizes a large-scale data set collected from Taiwan. Results indicate a negative association between cyberbullying and a sense of the certainty of punishment from authorities. Moreover, perceptions of the severity of punishment decrease the propensity for cyberbullying behavior. © 2023 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

Consumers are motivated to utilize certain media in order to meet their needs. Drawing on the uses and gratification (U&G) perspective, this study aims to investigate how information seeking and entertainment factors influence consumer motivations to watch travel videos on YouTube. By investigating why consumers watch travel vlogs on YouTube, this study also investigates its emotional impact on customer engagement. Thus, it is assumed that when consumers are emotionally engaged, they will be more likely to visit destinations and share eWOM. This hypothesis was tested on 300 respondents who had experience traveling and distributing travel vlogs via social media. Using Smart-PLS 3.0 software, a structural equation modeling approach was used to test the research hypothesis. The results of hypothesis testing suggest that entertainment plays a significant role in forming emotional engagement, whereas information seeking plays a lesser role. From a U&G perspective, to travel vlogs on YouTube, it is evident that consumers who seek entertainment are the most emotionally engaged. Furthermore, the results also reveal that when consumers feel emotionally engaged with video travel vlogs on YouTube, they are strongly motivated to visit the destination and share eWOM through social media. As a result, it can be seen that emotional engagement is a crucial factor in the behavior of intent to visit and eWOM for destinations. A number of theoretical and practical implications are also discussed. © 2022 IEEE.

Purpose: This paper explores the mechanism of organizational Pao culture in an Oriental cultural context and its impact on CSR implementation and outcomes. Design/methodology/approach: Three short cases are presented to reveal how the traditional Chinese Pao culture influences CSR implementation and outcomes in Chinese firms. Findings: The findings suggest that the traditional Chinese Pao culture is the driver behind the value orientation of the norms of passing on favors and doing good deeds will be rewarded. Knowing this can help leaders in such organizations to incentivize member participation in building organizational Pao culture. Practical implications: Through the collaborative construction of the core of Pao culture and external evaluation standards of corporate social responsibility, enterprises can thus achieve the dual goals of self-development and social benefits. Social implications: Enterprises and managers can be encouraged to draw management wisdom from the essence of cultural norms, so as to achieve the goal of realizing the interests of all CSR participants. Originality/value: This paper emphasizes the dynamics and outcomes of CSR implementation in the context of the traditional Chinese Pao culture and expands the boundary of CSR research beyond a Western cultural setting. © 2024, Emerald Publishing Limited.

In carrying out drilling projects at PT China Oilfields Services Limited ( COSL) Indo, especially Project 1 to Project 4, there were a mismatch between the initial plan of the project and the actualisation in the field because there were inhibiting factors in implementing the project. The purpose of the research was to look the factors that caused for the additional time in well drilling project at PT. COSL Indo, to build a relationship model of these factors, and formulate a strategy for the company to be able to overcome the occurrence of additional time in the future project. Data analysis was conducted by using a factor analysis method and the location of the research was carried out in just one company with 102 valid respondents. The results of the research indicate that there are four factors that influence the time gap, namely Project Management Activities, Risk Analysis and Procurement, Manage Stairs, and Project Planning Development. By knowing the causes of the delay, companies can find the best solutions for future learning and the impact on environmental, social and economic problems can also be anticipated so that sustainable development occurs in the context of petroleum management. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
