Christa published several books including (coeditor Dr. Azadeh Osanloo) (Sense Publishing) (coeditor Dr. Azadeh Osanloo) (2015 Emerald Publishing) (Information Age Publishing) (coedited with Dr. Sarah Diem) (Emerald Publishing) and (coedited with Autumn K. Tooms) (Information Age Publishing). Interim department chair and coordinator of the PhD program in Educational Leadership teaches courses on social justice and equity in leadership ethical leadership school communication and instructional leadership for the school of Education. Newcomb is the author of more than 50 published journal articles and book chapters the author of three published books and monographs and has presented at numerous local national and international conferences. She has served on the editorial boards of Educational Administration Quarterly and the Journal for Research on Leadership Education and is currently serving on the board of the Journal of school Leadership. Newcomb is also a coeditor for a book series on educational leadership for social justice published by Information Age. Interim academic department head and associate professor is also the Stan Fulton Endowed Chair for the Improvement of Border and Rural Schools. In general her research agenda focuses on issues of educational equity educational leadership and policy the philosophical foundations of education diversity multiculturalism and human rights bullying interventions and social justice. This study examines how 57 aspiring school leaders understand what it means to lead for social justice in K-12 schools. Grounded theory was employed for this qualitative study. The data collection included 855 audio and video reflections (15-55 minutes), 513 written narratives, 57 equity audits, and field notes. Emerging themes for this report include: (1) understanding social justice–oriented and equity-oriented pedagogies and work; (2) immersing oneself in culturally diverse contexts; (3) increasing critical consciousness; and (4) deepening empathic responses. Findings suggest promoting social justice-oriented transformative learning throughout coursework is critical to school leaders developing empathic responses toward disenfranchised populations. Implications suggest deepening empathic responses is critical to school leaders promoting social justice–oriented and equity-oriented work in schools.

This paper investigates the compliance of sidewalks to Technical Standard NBR 9050 on an avenue in Recife, a large Brazilian city, where property owners are responsible for sidewalk construction and maintenance (Law 16292 and Decree 20604). Diverse factors may influence public discourse, so in addition to measuring walkability, this study aims to identify solutions for sidewalk compliance according to the actual perception of interviewees. For this, free observation, individual semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and focus groups were conducted, utilizing microanalysis, enunciation analysis, and categorization. The respondents gave a grade of 3.51 (on a scale of 0 to 10), but they did not feel obligated to build or maintain their own sidewalks. When building them, they do not contract qualified professionals and fail to comply with legal requirements. In the short and medium term, walkability will not improve if the government does not take responsibility for building and maintaining sidewalks. © 2014 Taylor & Francis Group, London, UK.

Motivation Here, we make available a second version of the BioTIME database, which compiles records of abundance estimates for species in sample events of ecological assemblages through time. The updated version expands version 1.0 of the database by doubling the number of studies and includes substantial additional curation to the taxonomic accuracy of the records, as well as the metadata. Moreover, we now provide an R package (BioTIMEr) to facilitate use of the database. Main Types of Variables Included The database is composed of one main data table containing the abundance records and 11 metadata tables. The data are organised in a hierarchy of scales where 11,989,233 records are nested in 1,603,067 sample events, from 553,253 sampling locations, which are nested in 708 studies. A study is defined as a sampling methodology applied to an assemblage for a minimum of 2 years. Spatial Location and Grain Sampling locations in BioTIME are distributed across the planet, including marine, terrestrial and freshwater realms. Spatial grain size and extent vary across studies depending on sampling methodology. We recommend gridding of sampling locations into areas of consistent size. Time Period and Grain The earliest time series in BioTIME start in 1874, and the most recent records are from 2023. Temporal grain and duration vary across studies. We recommend doing sample-level rarefaction to ensure consistent sampling effort through time before calculating any diversity metric. Major Taxa and Level of Measurement The database includes any eukaryotic taxa, with a combined total of 56,400 taxa. Software Format csv and. SQL.

This paper deals with a perceived conflicting paradox between consumerism and sustainability based on a comprehensive bibliographic research that enabled an assessment if the planet limitations to provide resources can influence business strategies that aim the continuous company growth in a finite ***,brings a point of view of the role of the Marketing Department in providing inputs in the strategic long term planning of those companies to shape the future of its organization as well as the trend setter group of professionals that bring and shape the sustainability drivers to the *** of the analysis revealed that while the Marketing Department has limited power or voice to influence business decisions,the 'greener' initiatives like Social Marketing,Sustainable Marketing and Sustainable Consumption has potential to either evolve to or incorporate a new concept,the 'Conscious Marketing'.The paper will illustrate that this innovative marketing concept has a greater opportunity to be kicked off at the academic level in Universities and Business School that will reinforce the relevance of the theme and help to build in the students,a new generation of professionals,the knowledge that this is a finite planet with limited resources and that the humanity need to revisit its consumption standards to ensure living conditions to the future generations.

A rehabilitation center is another form of health care organization that specializes in providing care for particular conditions of patients. Patients admitted in rehab centers range from being accident victims to those suffering with a specific illness. These organizations are becoming extremely valuable in providing patient care services. However, they have not marketed themselves as aggressively as other health care organizations. This article provides an insight regarding rehab centers and examines marketing issues using a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis. We aim to identify the key success factors of the Japanese business intelligence (BI) market, by analyzing the “product architectures” of the winners' BI software and consulting services. Market share is used as the definition of win. Results highlight the following features of winners' architectures: the software and consulting services' architectures were “closed” at first, and consulting services' architecture changed from “closed” to “open” first, followed by that of the software. The losers' product architectures had the opposite dynamics: the software's architecture became “open” first, followed by that of the consulting services. These results indicate that differences in the dynamics of product architectures could be the dominant success factors in the BI market.
