In this paper we consider the filtering of partially observed multi-dimensional diffusion processes that are observed regularly at discrete times. This is a challenging problem which requires the use of advanced numerical schemes based upon time-discretization of the diffusion process and then the application of particle filters. Perhaps the state-of-the-art method for moderate dimensional problems is the multilevel particle filter of [12]. This is a method that combines multilevel Monte Carlo and particle filters. The approach in that article is based intrinsically upon an Euler discretization method. We develop a new particle filter based upon the antithetic truncated Milstein scheme of [10]. We show that for a class of diffusion problems, for ϵ > 0 given, that the cost to produce a mean square error (MSE) in estimation of the filter, of O(ϵ2) is O(ϵ−2 log(ϵ)2). In the case of multidimensional diffusions with non-constant diffusion coefficient, the method of [12] has a cost of O(ϵ−2.5) to achieve the same MSE. Noise-like pulse generation from a thulium-doped fiber laser using nonlinear polarization rotation with different net anomalous dispersion

A mode-locked thulium-doped fiber laser(TDFL) based on nonlinear polarization rotation(NPR) with different net anomalous dispersion is demonstrated. When the cavity dispersion is-1.425 ps^2, the noise-like(NL) pulse with coherence spike width of 406 fs and pulse energy of 12.342 nJ is generated at a center wavelength of 2003.2 nm with 3 dB spectral bandwidth of 23.20 nm. In the experimental period of 400 min, the 3 dB spectral bandwidth variation, the output power fluctuation, and the central wavelength shift are less than 0.06 nm, 0.04 d B, and0.4 nm, respectively, indicating that the NPR-based TDFL operating in the NL regime holds good long-term stability.

TWO-SAMPLE TEST OF COMMUNITY MEMBERSHIPS OF WEIGHTED STOCHASTIC BLOCK MODELS

Suppose two networks are observed for the same set of nodes, where each network is assumed to be generated from a weighted stochastic block model. This paper considers the problem of testing whether the community memberships of the two networks are the same. A test statistic based on singular subspace distance is developed. Under the weighted stochastic block models with dense graphs, the limiting distribution of the proposed test statistic is developed. Simulation results show that the test has correct empirical type 1 errors under the dense graphs. The test also behaves as expected in empirical power, showing gradual changes when the intra-block and inter-block distributions are close and achieving 1 when the two distributions are not so close, where the closeness of the two distributions is characterized by Renyi divergence of order 1/2. Cloaking the underlying long-range order of randomly perturbed lattices

Random, uncorrelated displacements of particles on a lattice preserve the hyperuniformity of the original lattice, that is, normalized density fluctuations vanish in the limit of infinite wavelengths. In addition to a diffuse contribution, the scattering intensity from the the resulting point pattern typically inherits the Bragg peaks (long-range order) of the original lattice. Here we demonstrate how these Bragg peaks can be hidden in the effective diffraction pattern of independent and identically distributed perturbations. All Bragg peaks vanish if and only if the sum of all probability densities of the positions of the shifted lattice points is a constant at all positions. The underlying long-range order is then “cloaked” in the sense that it cannot be reconstructed from the pair correlation function alone. On the one hand, density fluctuations increase monotonically with the strength of perturbations a, as measured by the hyperuniformity order metric Λ¯. On the other hand, the disappearance and reemergence of long-range order, depending on whether the system is cloaked as the perturbation strength increases, is manifestly captured by the τ order metric. Therefore, while the perturbation strength a may seem to be a natural choice for an order metric of perturbed lattices, the τ order metric is a superior choice. It is noteworthy that cloaked perturbed lattices allow one to easily simulate very large samples (with at least 106 particles) of disordered hyperuniform point patterns without Bragg peaks.

The Human-Centered Internet of Things(HC-IoT)is fast becoming a hotbed of security and privacy *** users can establish a common session key through a trusted server over an open communication channel using a three-party authenticated key *** of the early authenticated key agreement systems relied on pairing,hashing,or modular exponentiation processes that are computationally intensive and *** order to address this problem,this paper offers a new three-party authenticated key agreement technique based on fractional chaotic *** new scheme uses fractional chaotic maps and supports the dynamic sensing of HC-IoT devices in the network architecture without a password *** projected security scheme utilized a hash function,which works well for the resource-limited HC-IoT *** results show that our new technique is resistant to password guessing attacks since it does not use a ***,our approach provides users with comprehensive privacy protection,ensuring that a user forgery attack causes no ***,our new technique offers better security features than the techniques currently available in the literature.

Adiabatic geometric phase for a Bose-Einstein condensate coupled to a cavity

We investigate the geometric phase in a model of a Bose-Einstein condensate coupled to an optical cavity in which both the condensate and the cavity are described with coherent states. When the argument of the atom-cavity coupling term varies in time slowly from zero to 2π, we calculate the geometric phase accumulated by the ground state and obtain its analytic expression in explicit form. We find that the adiabatic geometric phase jumps from zero to nontrivial π at a critical value that corresponds to the normal-superradiant phase-transition point. The magneticlike flux interpretation of the geometric phase is also discussed.

The purpose of this research is the segmentation of lungs computed tomography(CT)scan for the diagnosis of COVID-19 by using machine learning *** dataset contains data from patients who are prone to the *** contains three types of lungs CT images(Normal,Pneumonia,and COVID-19)collected from two different sources;the first one is the Radiology Department of Nishtar Hospital Multan and Civil Hospital Bahawalpur,Pakistan,and the second one is a publicly free available medical imaging database known as *** the preprocessing,a novel fuzzy c-mean automated region-growing segmentation approach is deployed to take an automated region of interest(ROIs)and acquire 52 hybrid statistical features for each ***,12 optimized statistical features are selected via the chi-square feature reduction *** the classification,five machine learning classifiers named as deep learning J4,multilayer perceptron,support vector machine,random forest,and naive Bayes are deployed to optimize the hybrid statistical features *** is observed that the deep learning J4 has promising results(sensitivity and specificity:0.987;accuracy:98.67%)among all the deployed *** a complementary study,a statistical work is devoted to the use of a new statistical model to fit the main datasets of COVID-19 collected in Pakistan.

Gaussian differential privacy

In the past decade, differential privacy has seen remarkable success as a rigorous and practical formalization of data privacy. This privacy definition and its divergence based relaxations, however, have several acknowledged weaknesses, either in handling composition of private algorithms or in analyzing important primitives like privacy amplification by subsampling. Inspired by the hypothesis testing formulation of privacy, this paper proposes a new relaxation of differential privacy, which we term "f-differential privacy" (f-DP). This notion of privacy has a number of appealing properties and, in particular, avoids difficulties associated with divergence based relaxations. First, f-DP faithfully preserves the hypothesis testing interpretation of differential privacy, thereby making the privacy guarantees easily interpretable. In addition, f-DP allows for lossless reasoning about composition in an algebraic fashion. Moreover, we provide a powerful technique to import existing results proven for the original differential privacy definition to f-DP and, as an application of this technique, obtain a simple and easy-to-interpret theorem of privacy amplification by subsampling for f-DP. In addition to the above findings, we introduce a canonical single-parameter family of privacy notions within the f-DP class that is referred to as "Gaussian differential privacy" (GDP), defined based on hypothesis testing of two shifted Gaussian distributions. GDP is the focal privacy definition among the family of f-DP guarantees due to a central limit theorem for differential privacy that we prove. More precisely, the privacy guarantees of any hypothesis testing based definition of privacy (including the original differential privacy definition) converges to GDP in the limit under composition. We also prove a Berry–Esseen style version of the central limit theorem, which gives a computationally inexpensive tool for tractably analyzing the exact composition of private algorithms. Taken

Controlled C-N configurations,i.e.,pyrrolic-N,pyridinic-N,and graphitic-N,are promising strategies to tailor the carbon dots’(CDs)optical properties into the first near infrared(NIR)window(650-900 nm),a responsive range for biomedical ***,a deep understanding of the role of the C-N configuration in the CDs’properties is still challenging and thoughtprovoking owing to their complex ***,an underlying pyrrolic-N concentration and position effect on the pyrrolic-N-rich CDs’absorption was comprehensively elucidated based on the integrated experimental and computational *** assynthesized pyrrolic-N-rich CDs exhibit a first NIR window absorption centered at 650 nm with high photothermal ***-N concentrations from 1.4%to 11.3%and positions(edge and mid-site)were systematically investigated.A mid-site pyrrolic-N was subsequently generated after the pyrrolic-N concentration more than 10%.Edge-site pyrrolic-N induces a frontier orbital hybridization,reducing bandgap energy,while mid-site pyrrolic-N plays a critical role in inducing a first NIR window absorption owing to their high charge ***,pyrrolic-N-rich CDs inherit a bowl-like topological feature,elevating the CDs’layer thickness as much as 0.71 *** study shed light on the design and optimization of pyrrolic-N on CDs for the first NIR window responsive materials in any biomedical application.
