Spoof-Fluid-Spoof Acoustic Waveguide and its Applications for Sound Manipulation

We explore the implementation of a spoof–fluid-spoof (SFS) acoustic waveguide, which is the acoustic analogue of a metal-insulator–metal waveguide in plasmonics. The proposed structure consists of two corrugated rigid surfaces separated by a fluid layer. The properties of the guided acoustic modes between corrugated rigid parallel plates are analytically and numerically studied by deriving their dispersion relation and through a careful analysis of symmetric and antisymmetric modes supported by this structure. Similar to plasmonic waveguides, it is shown that the dispersion relation of the proposed SFS acoustic waveguide, and the supported group and phase velocities, can be largely controlled by changes in the geometrical parameters of the waveguide, opening the possibility for application of this technology for acoustic delay lines, modulators, and sensors. The analytical and numerical results are validated through experiments in a controlled environment.

The transfer of land has an impact on the decreasing of the agricultural land area, so it is necessary to plan the right cropping pattern as an effort to increase the productivity of agricultural cultivation. Also, Climate is one of the factors influencing the determination of cropping pattern in a region. Analysis of climatic characteristics in the determination of cropping pattern not only based on oldeman climatic classification. At the same time, the study of groundwater availability for plants and climogram of climatic elements is needed in determining planting schedule which is suitable for planting and determination of irrigation water supply, either the right amount of time. This study aims to identify and build spatial of the oldeman climate classification. It also determines the cropping pattern for seasonal crops based on the calculation of water balance and climogram (rainfall and air temperature) in each type of climate oldeman district of Cirebon and surrounding areas. Data used monthly rainfall data period 1981-2010 from BMKG Jatiwangi station and air temperature data, plant coefficient and the base map of Cirebon region. The analysis method includes classification of Oldeman climate type, spatial data processing, water balance calculation by Thorntwaite & Matter method and making climogram (rainfall and temperature) with: k = p0 + p1/FC;p0 = 1.000412351;p1 = -1.073807306 and determination of planting pattern of each type of oldeman. © 2018 Institute of Physics Publishing. Moving metasurfaces support guided waves exhibiting unusual optical properties, including strong anisotropy, nonreciprocity and hyperbolic dispersion. However, for these phenomena to be noticeable, high speeds are typically required, challenging their practical implementation. Here, we show a viable route towards the realization of one-way hyperbolic propagation in metasurfaces placed synthetically in motion through traveling-wave space-time modulation. In addition to non-reciprocal hyperbolic propagation, the proposed time-modulation scheme induces additional exotic opportunities for nanophotonic systems, such as efficient nonreciprocal frequency conversion and mode transfer. Understanding the circumstances that lead to pandemics is important for their prevention. Here, we analyze the genomic diversity of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) early in the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. We show that SARS-CoV-2 genomic diversity before February 2020 likely comprised only two distinct viral lineages, denoted A and B. Phylodynamic rooting methods, coupled with epidemic simulations, reveal that these lineages were the result of at least two separate cross-species transmission events into humans. The first zoonotic transmission likely involved lineage B viruses around 18 November 2019 (23 October-8 December), while the separate introduction of lineage A likely occurred within weeks of this event.

We present topological insulators for surface acoustic waves on piezoelectric materials. Our structures are based on honeycomb lattices of different types of acoustic domains and derive their nontrivial topology by breaking the symmetry of the lattice hexagonal unit cells. Our results can have applications in compact signal processing integrated devices at microwave frequencies based on surface acoustic waves.

Physics-based learned design: Optimized coded-illumination for quantitative phase imaging

Coded-illumination can enable quantitative phase microscopy of transparent samples with minimal hardware requirements. Intensity images are captured with different source patterns and a non-linear phase retrieval optimization reconstructs the image. The non-linear nature of the processing makes optimizing the illumination pattern designs complicated. Traditional techniques for experimental design (e.g. condition number optimization, spectral analysis) consider only linear measurement formation models and linear reconstructions. Deep neural networks (DNNs) can efficiently represent the non-linear process and can be optimized over via training in an end-to-end framework. However, DNNs typically require a large amount of training examples and parameters to properly learn the phase retrieval process, without making use of the known physical models. Here, we aim to use both our knowledge of the physics and the power of machine learning together. We develop a new data-driven approach to optimizing coded-illumination patterns for a LED array microscope for a given phase reconstruction algorithm. Our method incorporates both the physics of the measurement scheme and the non-linearity of the reconstruction algorithm into the design problem. This enables efficient parameterization, which allows us to use only a small number of training examples to learn designs that generalize well in the experimental setting without retraining. We show experimental results for both a well-characterized phase target and mouse fibroblast cells using coded-illumination patterns optimized for a sparsity-based phase reconstruction algorithm. Our learned design results using 2 measurements demonstrate similar accuracy to Fourier Ptychography with 69 measurements. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper aims to present a fuzzy cognitive map (FCM) controller on multiple autonomous mobile robots (multirobot system) in order to complete a foraging task in semiunknown environments, and to compare the FCM results with a fuzzy logic controller (FLC). In this work, the limits of the searching area are known. However, everything within it (goals, obstacles and position of other robots during navigation) is unknown. The foraging task simulates a real-life application of robots on rescue missions, where the main objective is rescuing the victims of a tragedy, or lost in a forest, or even victims of a major accident in an industry. Although it is a simulated environment, we tested the autonomy and cooperation among all robots for this kind of operation in different simulated scenarios. We used a reactive (real-time) architecture to enhance the robots' global robustness on dealing with unpredictable situations. The results imply that the FCM approach presented, in general, less simulation processing time and distance traveled, without significant prejudice in the explored area. In this way, we expect to collaborate and serve as inspiration for future works on this research area.

Insurance company are certainly has a rich of data from their business process. One of the data is related to business process sales. From this sales data can be used to analyze the condition of a company whether the condition of the company is in a good condition or not. The purpose of this research is to develop a technique to analyze this data from the company. The method used to implement the data analysis in this paper is to design a data warehouse. Use ninestep methodology as the method for design data warehouse and Pentaho as a tool for ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), OLAP analysis and reporting data, the results of this research concluded that the implementation of data warehouse for perform data analysis and reporting better and more effective.

Purpose-The production of glycerol derivatives by the esterification process is subject to many constraints related to the yield of the production target and the lack of process *** accurate monitoring and controlling of the process can improve production yield and *** purpose of this paper is to propose a real-time optimization(RTO)using gradient adaptive selection and classification from infrared sensor measurement to cover various disturbances and uncertainties in the ***/methodology/approach-The integration of the esterification process optimization using self-optimization(SO)was developed with classification process was combined with necessary condition optimum(NCO)as gradient adaptive selection,supported with laboratory scaled medium wavelength infrared(mid-IR)sensors,and measured the proposed optimization system indicator in the batch *** Process Modeling and Notation(BPMN 2.0)was built to describe the tasks of SO workflow in collaboration with NCO as an abstraction for the conceptual ***,Stateflow modeling was deployed to simulate the three states of gradient-based adaptive control combined with support vector machine(SVM)classification and Arduino microcontroller for ***-This new method shows that the real-time optimization responsiveness of control increased product yield up to 13 percent,lower error measurement with percentage error 1.11 percent,reduced the process duration up to 22 minutes,with an effective range of stirrer rotation set between 300 and 400 rpm and final temperature between 200 and 210℃ which was more efficient,as it consumed less *** limitations/implications-In this research the authors just have an experiment for the esterification process using glycerol,but as a development concept of RTO,it would be possible to apply for another chemical reaction or *** implications-This research introduces new development of an RTO approach to optimal con
