In this paper, we explore theoretically and experimentally broadband spatiotemporally modulated (STM) magnet-less circulators realized by combining three-port non-reciprocal junctions with three identical bandpass filters. We develop a rigorous theory for the proposed circuit, which allows to optimize its design and to derive a global bound on the maximum possible bandwidth (BW). We verify our theory with simulations and measurements of a printed circuit board (PCB) prototype based on a differential wye junction and second-order Chebyshev bandpass filters, resulting in a measured fractional BW of 13.9% at a center frequency of 1 GHz. In persuasive negotiation dialogues, agents, with different interests and goals, exchange proposals that are supported by rhetorical arguments such as threats, rewards, or appeals. The aim of this thesis is to investigate such dialogue systems, where agents can generate rhetorical arguments in order to try to persuade their opponents, and can also construct counter-arguments, which depend on the type of the previously received argument The main contributions of this work are (i) a persuasive negotiation model that supports this kind of dialogue and (ii) the study the notion of acceptability of these kinds of arguments according to the Dung's definitions.

Faults in industrial communication protocols represent an important problem for industrial systems as they may lead to severe losses. Observing the need for approaches to deal with this type of problem, this paper studies reliability aspects related to industrial communication protocols and the modeling of possible communication faults. The work proposes a requirements specification based on aspect-oriented concepts to map and model common faults in design phases of embedded systems. A model integrating fault modeling in communication protocols extending the Real-Time From Requirements to Design using Aspects (RT-FRIDA) framework is presented. A case study on vehicular networks was conducted considering the nonfunctional requirements specification of an Active Suspension System. Then, a sequence of fault requirements based in recent studies is modeled and presented to validate the proposed approach. The main contribution of this work is to enable the use of fault modeling in communication protocols and aspect-oriented modeling techniques to mitigate the fault impact in the timing behavior of critical tasks. This study indicates the use of observers' technique modeled to fault diagnosis, so that they can be aggregated into a real-time control system. © 2017 IEEE.

Safety systems in the automotive sector are very important. Among these are ABS brake systems, stability control system, and air bag systems. One group of these safety systems is oriented toward collisions and are activated at different times, having specific objectives, for example 1) systems activated before a collision have the objective of preventing impact, 2) systems activated during a collision have the objective of minimizing the physical harm to occupants, and 3) after a collision, their objective is to minimize the time between the collision and arrival of outside assistance for the vehicle's occupants. However, while type 1 systems (passive) and type 2 systems (active) are currently in many vehicles, type 3 systems have not been thoroughly researched. Therefore, this article describes a proposal of the behavioral logic of a type 3 system, which is represented through a software requirement specification document (SRS). The SRS presented satisfies some of the recommendations of the requirements of the automotive standard ISO 26262 and two of the processes used relate to the requirements of the standard ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288.

Based on the formulation of the problem to be discussed by the writer is to know: the influence of 0.4 mm spark gap variation, and standard spark plug type, to CO and HC, the influence of 0.5 mm spark plug gap variation, and variation of platinum spark plug on CO and HC, influence of spark gap variation 0,6mm, and variation of iridium spark plug type to CO and HC emission Method used to obtain data needed to support the writer that is research method with experiment, literature study method or literature study The result of this research concludes that there is spark gap influence 0.4 mm, with variations of standard plug, platinum and iridium spark plugs against CO and HC emissions, where the lowest CO value is 0.27% and HC 98 ppm, 0.5 mm spark plug with lowest CO 0.15% and HC 46 ppm, 0.6 mm spark plug gap the lowest CO value of 0.19% and HC 24 ppm. In this paper, we present and study the dynamics of an active microwave cloaking technique that alleviates the trade-offs between loss, bandwidth, and size inherent in passive approaches. The presented cloak consists of a finite number of satellite antennas loaded with parity-time-symmetric lumped admittances, which, without external control, can track in real time the amplitude, frequency, and phase variations of the impinging signals and generate the required current distributions at the antennas to totally suppress the scattered waves, including reflections and shadows. We analytically derive the optimal density and frequency dispersion of the antenna satellites surrounding the object in order to achieve substantial reduction in the scattering crosssection over a wide bandwidth. We also investigate the conditions necessary to maintain the cloak stability and study its transient response for excitation with pulsed signals.

Willis coupling in acoustic materials defines the cross-coupling between strain and velocity, analogous to bianisotropic phenomena in electromagnetics. While these phenomena have been garnering significant attention in recent years, to date their effects have been considered mostly perturbative. Here, we derive general bounds on the Willis response of acoustic scatterers, show that these bounds can be reached in suitably designed scatterers, and outline a systematic venue for the realistic implementation of maximally bianisotropic acoustic inclusions. We then employ these inclusions to realize acoustic metasurfaces for bending and steering of sound with unitary efficiency.

Scientific novelty drives the efforts to invent new vaccines and solutions during the pandemic. First-time collaboration and international collaboration are two pivotal channels to expand teams' search activities for a broader scope of resources required to address the global challenge, which might facilitate the generation of novel ideas. Our analysis of 98,981 coronavirus papers suggests that scientific novelty measured by the BioBERT model that is pre-trained on 29 million PubMed articles, and first-time collaboration increased after the outbreak of COVID-19, and international collaboration witnessed a sudden decrease. During COVID-19, papers with more first-time collaboration were found to be more novel and international collaboration did not hamper novelty as it had done in the normal periods. The findings suggest the necessity of reaching out for distant resources and the importance of maintaining a collaborative scientific community beyond nationalism during a pandemic. Traditional disease surveillance systems depend on outpatient reporting and virological test results released by hospitals. These data have valid and accurate information about emerging outbreaks but it's often not timely. In recent years the exponential growth of users getting connected to social media provides immense knowledge about epidemics by sharing related information. Social media can now flag more immediate concerns related to outbreaks in real time. In this paper we apply the long short-term memory recurrent neural network (RNN) architecture to classify tweets conveyed influenza-related information and compare its performance with baseline algorithms including support vector machine (SVM), decision tree, naive Bayes, simple logistics, and naive Bayes multinomial. The developed RNN model achieved an F-score of 0.845 on the MedWeb task test set, which outperforms the F-score of SVM without applying the synthetic minority oversampling technique by 0.08. The F-score of the RNN model is within 1% of the highest score achieved by SVM with oversampling technique. © 2017 AFNLP
