The Karhunen-Loève transform (KLT) stands as a well-established discrete transform, demonstrating optimal characteristics in data decorrelation and dimensionality reduction. Its ability to condense energy compression into a select few main components has rendered it instrumental in various applications within image compression frameworks. However, computing the KLT depends on the covariance matrix of the input data, which makes it difficult to develop fast algorithms for its implementation. Approximations for the KLT, utilizing specific rounding functions, have been introduced to reduce its computational complexity. Therefore, our paper introduces a category of low-complexity, data-independent KLT approximations, employing a range of round-off functions. The design methodology of the approximate transform is defined for any block-length N, but emphasis is given to transforms of N = 8 due to its wide use in image and video compression. The proposed transforms perform well when compared to the exact KLT and approximations considering classical performance measures. For particular scenarios, our proposed transforms demonstrated superior performance when compared to KLT approximations documented in the literature. We also developed fast algorithms for the proposed transforms, further reducing the arithmetic cost associated with their implementation. Evaluation of field programmable gate array (FPGA) hardware implementation metrics was conducted. Practical applications in image encoding showed the relevance of the proposed transforms. The government in Indonesia and its staff work together to make tactical steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community. From the ministerial level to the heads of the provinces, regencies, and even the government. Therefore, this study aims to make a model decision support system to diagnose patients exposed to Covid-19, such as people in control, patients in oversight, and those who are positive for the Covid-19 Virus. Model decision support system development aims to provide information about the development of COVID- 19 and help the community in diagnosing themselves related to COVID-19 infection. In this study, the authors use the forward chaining method in application to get conclusions from the symptoms of the Covid-19. This research resulted in an application that patients exposed to the Covid-19, and it's also provided a solution for healing from patients. And this could be a reference for patients before consulting further with the doctor. © 2020 IEEE.

Device degradation due to hot carrier injection (HCI) in different Y-gate HEMT devices is thoroughly analyzed. To further understand the HCI reliability of the Y-gate HEMT devices, the device is fabricated with AlGaN/GaN structure with different top lengths (Ltop). An HCI stress time of 6000 s was conducted on these devices, while V t stability in other stress time domains, leakage current, and transconductance degradation are also discussed. In this work, we have demonstrated that increasing the LTop length could avoid the virtual gate effect and disperse the influence of the electric field under HCI stress. Furthermore, the effects of trapping in various locations, such as in the bulk SiN or AlGaN/GaN interface has been discussed. These trapping effects caused by the HCI stress might be the source of the Vth shift. Overall, The large Y-gate HEMT showed the lowest degradation of DC characteristics after the long HCI stress test. © 2023 The Electrochemical Society ("ECS"). Assessing disruptive potential of retail central bank digital currency and influence of design considerations: An open innovation approach in Thailand

Monetary authorities globally have studied central bank digital currency (CBDC) for wholesale and retail applications since the 1990s. Besides countering private cryptocurrencies' influence, central banks have also explored other benefits of CBDC, such as improving their financial oversight, enhancing digital payment systems, and reducing transaction fees and friction. For several years, the Bank of Thailand has also invested in research and development of CBDC, including retail use cases. However, an optimized design for an official launch of a retail CBDC in Thailand has yet to be determined, resembling fragmented progress observed among other central banks. This research has leveraged disruptive innovation theory to provide a fresh perspective on retail CBDC as potentially disruptive financial innovations. Additionally, it has proposed an open innovation-based methodology to determine industry preferences concerning twelve design considerations for retail CBDC and their impact on nine indicators of disruptive innovation. Data has been collected and analyzed from 98 respondents outside the Bank of Thailand, all possessing relevant expertise or experience in electronic payments. Crosstab and logistic regression analyses have indicated that retail CBDC in Thailand could embark on a disruptive innovation trajectory by adhering to defined design choices. Significantly, entering a new detached market has been identified as the most promising entry point, accompanied by explicit recommendations on nine out of twelve design considerations. © 2025 The Authors

The development of game technology has opened up new possibilities in learning methods through educational games. However, in Indonesia, the application of this concept is lacking. One lesson that can benefit from educational games is Indonesian History in class X, with a focus on history in the pre-literacy period. This study aims to create a puzzle-Adventure type of digital game that can help educate students about the pre-literacy period, developed with Unity, and uses WebGL as a target device while referring to Indonesia's revised 2013 national curriculum. The result of this research is the creation of a digital game that can be played on average of 254.36 seconds, with potential for educational use. A survey result shows that many of the ancient objects and some of the ages are well-recognized. However, the survey also shows many of the gameplay aspects, such as UI, gameplay features, and adventure elements, need improvements. © 2020 IEEE.

Background: To evaluate the effect of the weighting of input imaging combo and ADC threshold on the performance of the U-Net and to find an optimized input imaging combo and ADC threshold in segmenting acute ischemic stroke (AIS) lesion. Methods: This study retrospectively enrolled a total of 212 patients having AIS. Four combos, including ADC-ADC-ADC (AAA), DWI-ADC-ADC (DAA), DWI-DWI-ADC (DDA), and DWI-DWI-DWI (DDD), were used as input images, respectively. Three ADC thresholds including 0.6, 0.8 and 1.8 × 10^–3 mm²/s were applied. Dice similarity coefficient (DSC) was used to evaluate the segmentation performance of U-Nets. Nonparametric Kruskal–Wallis test with Tukey–Kramer post-hoc tests were used for comparison. A p <.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The DSC significantly varied among different combos of images and different ADC thresholds. Hybrid U-Nets outperformed uniform U-Nets at ADC thresholds of 0.6 × 10^–3 mm²/s and 0.8 × 10^–3 mm²/s (p <.001). The U-Net with imaging combo of DDD had segmentation performance similar to hybrid U-Nets at an ADC threshold of 1.8 × 10^–3 mm²/s (p =.062 to 1). The U-Net using the imaging combo of DAA at the ADC threshold of 0.6 × 10^–3 mm²/s achieved the highest DSC in the segmentation of AIS lesion. Conclusions: The segmentation performance of U-Net for AIS varies among the input imaging combos and ADC thresholds. The U-Net is optimized by choosing the imaging combo of DAA at an ADC threshold of 0.6 × 10^–3 mm²/s in segmentating AIS lesion with highest DSC. We present the task of Automated Punishment Extraction (APE) in sentencing decisions from criminal court cases in Hebrew. Addressing APE will enable the identification of sentencing patterns and constitute an important stepping stone for many follow up legal NLP applications in Hebrew, including the prediction of sentencing decisions. We curate a dataset of sexual assault sentencing decisions and a manuallyannotated evaluation dataset, and implement rulebased and supervised models. We find that while supervised models can identify the sentence containing the punishment with good accuracy, rulebased approaches outperform them on the full APE task. We conclude by presenting a first analysis of sentencing patterns in our dataset and analyze common models' errors, indicating avenues for future work, such as distinguishing between probation and actual imprisonment punishment. We will make all our resources available upon request, including data, annotation, and first benchmark models. © 2021 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Heterostructures based on ultrawide-bandgap (UWBG) semiconductors (bandgap>4.0eV), such as BN and diamond, hold significant importance for the development of high-power electronics in the next generation. However, achieving in situ heteroepitaxy of BN/diamond or vice versa remains exceptionally challenging due to the complex growth kinetics involved. In this work, we grew BN thin film on (100) single-crystal diamonds using pulsed laser deposition and investigated its structural, magnetic, optical, and thermal properties. The structural analyses confirmed the growth of BN films, which exhibited diamagnetic behavior at room temperature. Notably, the film demonstrated anisotropic refractive index characteristics within the visible-to-near-infrared wavelength range. The room-temperature cross-plane thermal conductivity of BN is 1.53 ± 0.77 W/mK, while the thermal conductance of the BN/diamond interface is 20±2MW/m2K. These findings have significant implications for a range of device applications based on UWBG BN/diamond heterostructures.
