Free-electron radiation is a fundamental photon emission process that is induced by fast-moving electrons interacting with optical media. Historically, it has been understood that, just like any other photon emission process, free-electron radiation must be constrained within a finite time interval known as the "formation time", whose concept is applicable to both Cherenkov radiation and transition radiation, the two basic mechanisms describing radiation from a bulk medium and from an interface, respectively. Here we reveal an alternative mechanism of free-electron radiation far beyond the previously defined formation time. It occurs when a fast electron crosses the interface between vacuum and a plasmonic medium supporting bulk plasmons. While emitted continuously from the crossing point on the interface — thus consistent with the features of transition radiation — the extra radiation beyond the conventional formation time is supported by a long tail of bulk plasmons following the electron’s trajectory deep into the plasmonic medium. Such a plasmonic tail mixes surface and bulk effects, and provides a sustained channel for electron-interface interaction. These results also settle the historical debate in Ferrell radiation, regarding whether it is a surface or bulk effect, from transition radiation or plasmonic oscillation. Antigen-specific T cells play an essential role in immunoregulation and many diseases such as cancer. Characterizing the T cell receptor (TCR) sequences that encode T cell specificity is critical for elucidating the antigenic determinants of immunological diseases and designing therapeutic remedies. However, methods of obtaining single-cell TCR sequencing data are labor and cost intensive, typically requiring both cell sorting and full length single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq). New high-throughput 3' cell-barcoding scRNA-seq methods can simplify and scale this process;however, they do not routinely capture TCR sequences during library preparation and sequencing. While 5' cell-barcoding scRNA-seq methods can be used to examine TCR repertoire at single-cell resolution, doing so requires specialized reagents which cannot be applied to samples previously processed using 3' cell-barcoding methods. Here, we outline a method for sequencing TCRα and TCRβ transcripts from samples already processed using 3' cell-barcoding scRNA-seq platforms, ensuring TCR recovery at a single-cell resolution. In short, a fraction of the 3' barcoded whole transcriptome amplification (WTA) product typically used to generate a massively parallel 3' scRNA-seq library is enriched for TCR transcripts using biotinylated probes, and further amplified using the same universal primer sequence from WTA. Primer extension using TCR V-region primers and targeted PCR amplification using a second universal primer results in a 3' barcoded single-cell CDR3-enriched library that can be sequenced with custom sequencing primers. Coupled with 3' scRNA-seq of the same WTA, this method enables simultaneous analysis of single-cell transcriptomes and TCR sequences which can help interpret inherent heterogeneity among antigen-specific T cells and salient disease biology. The method presented here can also be adapted readily to enrich and sequence other transcripts of interest from both 3' and 5' barcoded scRNA-seq

Currently, the growth of information and technology is rapid. It makes a lot of things in various fields including education becoming more effective and efficient. In education, one of its implementation which is a game is proven to be a useful tool to support conventional teaching methods and bring a more natural understanding of learning materials. Moreover, as a product of the popular culture in modern society, video game mirrors the general culture practice in real life and reflects it via its own culture inside the game. This makes a video game can give a contribution to the social construction of reality as it affects the player's view towards learning in real life and vice versa. From there, we see that there is an opportunity for learning about religion to be supported by its utilization to provide an interactive and fun learning experience. In this paper, we discuss how a video game is implemented to support religious learning. The game was developed with the scrum method where we surveyed to gather the user requirements before the design step. The game design was made by using the use case diagram and storyboard, and it was built using Unity version 2017.3.0f3. © 2019 IEEE.

Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, variants of SARS-CoV-2 have emerged that are more contagious and more likely to cause breakthrough infections. Targeted amplicon sequencing approach is a gold standard for identification and analysis of variants. However, when applied to environmental samples such as wastewater, it remains unclear how sensitive this method is for detecting variant-associated mutations in environmental samples. Here we directly compare a targeted amplicon sequencing approach (using ARTIC v3;hereafter referred to as sequencing) with RT-ddPCR quantification for the detection of five mutations that are characteristic of variants of concern (VoCs) in wastewater samples. In total, 547 wastewater samples were analyzed using both methods in parallel. When we observed positive mutation detections by RT-ddPCR, 42.6% of the detection events were missed by sequencing, due to negative detection or the limited read coverage at the mutation position. Further, when sequencing reported negative or depth-limited mutation detections, 26.7% of those events were instead positive detections by RT-ddPCR, highlighting the relatively poor sensitivity of sequencing. No or weak associations were observed between quantitative measurements of target mutations determined by RT-ddPCR and sequencing. These findings caution the use of quantitative measurements of SARS-CoV-2 variants in wastewater samples determined solely based on sequencing. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Code-mixed sentiment analysis of Indonesian language and Javanese language using Lexicon based approach

Nowadays mixing one language with another language either in spoken or written communication has become a common practice for bilingual speakers in daily conversation as well as in social media. Lexicon based approach is one of the approaches in extracting the sentiment analysis. This study is aimed to compare two lexicon models which are SentiNetWord and VADER in extracting the polarity of the code-mixed sentences in Indonesian language and Javanese language. 3,963 tweets were gathered from two accounts that provide code-mixed tweets. Pre-processing such as removing duplicates, translating to English, filter special characters, transform lower case and filter stop words were conducted on the tweets. Positive and negative word score from lexicon model was then calculated using simple mathematic formula in order to classify the polarity. By comparing with the manual labelling, the result showed that SentiNetWord perform better than VADER in negative sentiments. However, both of the lexicon model did not perform well in neutral and positive sentiments. On overall performance, VADER showed better performance than SentiNetWord. This study showed that the reason for the misclassified was that most of Indonesian language and Javanese language consist of words that were considered as positive in both Lexicon model.

Behind the concept of Industry 4.0, there are a number of principles and ideas; one of them is the integration of problems of different decision levels. In this work, we integrate maintenance with planning problems, aiming to take full advantage of the production capacity providing immediate delivery of products to customers and avoiding failures. We propose a hybrid approach for solving a maintenance problem integrated with the lot-sizing and scheduling problems. The approach is based on the concepts of robustness and simheuristics, considering preventive, predictive and corrective maintenances in a parallel machine environment. Simulations are performed to consider machine failures. Results indicate that as we increase the robustness parameter at the lot-sizing problem, we obtain lower deviations related to the initial objective function of the lot-sizing problem and lower probabilities of infeasibility after the occurrence of failures. The approach makes it possible to find an average expected result for each of the scenarios analyzed taking into account historical data on the behavior of the failures.

This paper presents a two-phase hybrid prognostics approach; in the first phase, the model’s parameters are estimated using available training data in the least squares sense using the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm. The second phase consists of using a particle filter to update the knowledge acquired so far and to predict future states of the system using in the Bayesian sense. The approach is used for an accelerated ball bearing data set, the PRONOSTIA platform, where a general fractional polynomial model is proposed as degradation model. The results of the Remaining Useful Life estimation are compared with another work in the literature, indicating its suitability and competitiveness for prognostics in this data set.

IT Governance are one of the needs in managing Enterprise Level IT. This study shows part of the decision domain of IT Governance Help, which are IT Investment and Prioritization. The purpose of this study is to determine feasibility of implementation open source ERP system Odoo project management module that replaces current system based on operational, economic, and technical aspects. The method used are Fit / Gap Analysis and Cost Benefit model using economic impact worksheet. The analysis is done by comparing the requirement with features owned by current system and Odoo ERP system. This research resulted that Odoo ERP System is feasible in the 3 aspects, the operational feasibility Odoo reaching 72% Fit, the economic feasibility with ROI of 84%, and technical feasibility indicating the technical requirement can be fulfilled by leasing AWS server. The conclusion is the open source ERP system Odoo project management module is feasible to be applied in terms of 3 aspects that have been studied, those are operational, economic, and technical.

Anomaly Detection in Climate Data Using Stacked and Densely Connected Long Short-Term Memory Model

Climate anomalies are considered as an important factor closely related to many disasters causing many human losses, such as airline crash, wildfires, drought and flooding in many areas. Many researchers have projected that the rising global temperature will increase the draught, especially in the mid-latitude areas. Taking those problems into account, studies on anomaly detection in climate are crucial. While climate prediction aims to analyze and model regular pattern of climate, climate anomaly studies aim to model climate deviation from its previous general patterns. Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) is a method employed in this research because it has been proven to work effectively in several anomaly detection studies, especially for data with similar characteristics. This paper presents empirical results of using Basic LSTM, Densely Connected (DC) LSTM, and Stacked-DC LSTM models to detect temperature anomaly as a manifestation of climate change in Semarang City. The results show that Stacked DC LSTM produced higher accuracy in detecting anomaly than the other two methods. © 2020 computer Society of the Republic of China. All rights reserved.
