Efficient Focusing with Large Numerical Aperture Using a Hybrid Metalens

Focusing light using electrically thin layers is of paramount importance in several applications, from integrated optics to microwave engineering and sensing. Recently, gradient metasurfaces, which are electrically thin arrays of densely located polarizable particles, have been employed to perform different wave-front transformations, including focusing. In comparison to a bulk lens, these designs provide ultrathin geometries, but they suffer from fundamental limitations on their overall efficiency and achievable numerical aperture. Metagratings offer a solution for efficient beam steering at large angles, but it is challenging to utilize them in the small-angle limit. Here, we introduce a hybrid metalens design, which provides dramatic enhancement in lensing performance compared with that of state-of-the-art metasurfaces, combining metagratings and conventional gradient approaches. Our experimental prototype enables microwave focusing with large efficiency (η=0.479) and near-unity numerical aperture (NA=0.98), yielding a sharp focal point at the diffraction limit in the far field (FWHM=0.332λ). We propose a hybrid metalens design with exceptional performance in terms of efficiency and numerical aperture, opening up opportunities for high-throughput optical lithography, high-density data recording, focal plane arrays, radar, and communication systems.

Spinal functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) is a newly emerging non-invasive imaging technique that has been introduced to study the Blood Oxygenation Level Dependent (BOLD) changes in the spinal cord associated with a certain activity or even at rest. Spinal fMRI is also used to assess the treatment of many dysfunctions affect the spinal cord such as spinal cord injury (SCI) and Multiple sclerosis (MS). The purpose of this paper is to propose a literature review of spinal fMRI studies performed on healthy human volunteers. The studies reviewed are divided based on the paradigm being performed during image acquisition into (1) studies under activities and stimulus which are further classified according to the type of the stimuli, and (2) studies at resting state. Moreover, the limitations of spinal fMRI and how to tackle them are discussed.

Image-guided surgery (IGS) involves using surgical instruments tracking system to guide the surgeon during invasive surgical procedures. The use of preoperative or intraoperative images is very essential in providing navigation for different medical applications. In this paper, a literature review of different imaging modalities that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease (CAD) is proposed. The imaging modalities discussed include x-ray fluoroscopy, coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA), fractional flow reserve (FFR), cardiac single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI) and ultrasound. Additionally, pseudoaneurysms, which can result from percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) procedure, are reviewed as well as the treatment procedure. Finally, a comparison between the different imaging modalities is carried out, based on the number of papers that have been published, in addition to the sensitivity and specificity for each modality according to PubMed and Web of science databases.

Personnel and education data very important for organizations, including the military. All data related to military personnel will give effect positions and careers in the military field. The integration of personnel and education data can assist in processing and decision making. An analysis is needed so that the developed system can be useful for the long term. Analysis with IT balanced scorecard and COBIT ® 2019, will be able to help and fill the gaps in the existing system based on the objectives of the military organization itself. It is shown that the domains BAI05 (Managed Organizational Change) and DSS02 (Managed Service Requests and Incidents) are still not being implemented well. The system developed will have the features and capabilities to support the organization in achieving its goals, including in the field of staffing and education. Besides, it provides convenience in making decisions in terms of positions related to personnel careers.

Structural colors generated due to light scattering from static all-dielectric metasurfaces have successfully enabled high-resolution, high-saturation and wide-gamut color printing applications. Despite recent advances, most demonstrations of these structure-dependent colors lack post-fabrication tunability that hinders their applicability for front-end dynamic display technologies. Phase-change materials (PCMs), with significant contrast of their optical properties between their amorphous and crystalline states, have demonstrated promising potentials in reconfigurable nanophotonics. Herein, we leverage a tunable all-dielectric reflective metasurface made of a newly emerged class of low-loss optical PCMs with superb characteristics, i.e., antimony trisulphide (Sb2S3), antimony triselenide (Sb2Se3), and binary germanium-doped selenide (GeSe3), to realize switchable, high-saturation, high-efficiency and high-resolution structural colors. Having polarization sensitive building blocks, the presented metasurface can generate two different colors when illuminated by two orthogonally polarized incident beams. Such degrees of freedom (i.e., structural state and polarization) enable a single reconfigurable metasurface with fixed geometrical parameters to generate four distinct wide-gamut colors suitable for a wide range of applications, including tunable full-color printing and displays, information encryption, and anti-counterfeiting. © 2021, CC BY.

Weeds are one of the organisms that interfere with plant growth. Information about the identity of weeds becomes very important on plantations. Although weeds data digitization has been done a lot, currently there is still not much weeds data information system can be accessed online. Weeds management is often dealt with weeds herbarium or weeds photographs. In an effort to provide a good information system for farmers, this research aims to create a database of various types of weeds and an information system that can be accessed online. The methodology for developing a weed catalog information system uses the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Weed samples in database were collected through systematic random sampling in the form of images and text. The result of this study is a Weeds Electronic Catalog or Weeds e-Catalog that can facilitate the information of weeds identity such as names, classifications, morphology, life cycles, and habitats of various types of weeds that grow on plantation land. Weeds e-Catalog can be used by plantation practitioners and farmers to make decisions in controlling weeds.

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a pervasive developmental disorder that will affect children in terms of interpersonal communication, social interaction, and imaginative levels in play. Many therapies to help the motor neuron performance is one of them Pretend Play. Pretend Play is a therapy that invites children in playing to demonstrate something else and tell how to use objects that are considered in the child's imagination. However, in the era of highly developed technology, many fields have used the Augmented Reality method as a visualization of various aspects. With this method researchers will present the therapeutic visualization of the block to 3D transportation tool that is useful for strengthening motor nerves and visual strength of the child. The system can run well during marker detection, marker movement, and 3D object display with the accuracy of precision angle and distance between virtual world with real world reach 100% with angle 0 at distance 31 cm and the maximum distance from the marker is 46 cm and the maximum angle is 30. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Document management system makes user to access information anytime and anywhere. The purpose of this research is to analyze what variables have impact on the intention to use of document management system. To achieve the objectives conducted by identification problem on the research model developed from the model of Technology Acceptance Model and Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology to the use of document management system. Furthermore, the data obtained from the respondents tested outer model, inner model test, hypothesis test and to produce a comprehensive analysis will be conducted Importance Performance Analysis.
