Clustering high-dimensional data, such as images or biological measurements, is a long-standing problem and has been studied extensively. Recently, Deep Clustering gained popularity due to the non-linearity of neural networks, which allows for flexibility in fitting the specific peculiarities of complex data. Here we introduce the Mixture-of-Experts Similarity Variational Autoencoder (MoE-Sim-VAE), a novel generative clustering model. The model can learn multi-modal distributions of high-dimensional data and use these to generate realistic data with high efficacy and efficiency. MoE-Sim-VAE is based on a Variational Autoencoder (VAE), where the decoder consists of a Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture. This specific architecture allows for various modes of the data to be automatically learned by means of the experts. Additionally, we encourage the latent representation of our model to follow a Gaussian mixture distribution and to accurately represent the similarities between the data points. We assess the performance of our model on synthetic data, the MNIST benchmark data set, and a challenging real-world task of defining cell subpopulations from mass cytometry (CyTOF) measurements on hundreds of different datasets. MoE-Sim-VAE exhibits superior clustering performance on all these tasks in comparison to the baselines and we show that the MoE architecture in the decoder reduces the computational cost of sampling specific data modes with high fidelity. Over the past decade, online crowdsourcing has established itself as an emerging paradigm that industry and government have been using to harness the cognitive abilities of a multitude of users distributed around the world. In this context, microtask crowdsourcing has become the method of choice for addressing a wide range of diverse problems. Microtasks typically require a minimum of time and cognitive effort, but combined individual efforts have made it possible to accomplish great achievements. The goal of this paper is to contribute to the ongoing effort of understanding whether the same success that microtask crowdsourcing has achieved in other domains can be obtained in the field of social news curation. In particular, we ask whether it is possible to turn online news curation, typically a social and collaborative activity on the Web, into a model in which curatorial activities are mapped into microtasks to be performed by a crowd of online users.

An e-Commerce company has been using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for several years, but is still constrained in its implementation, this is reflected in the number of issue/change request tickets submitted by users who have not been able to reach ideal conditions. To overcome this problem, we need an appropriate reference model, the ERP system user acceptance model in companies. The study conducted factors that influence the level of acceptance of SAP ERP users in the XYZ group to then determine a model that is able to explain practically the level of ERP system user acceptance, which in turn can produce concrete proposals to increase ERP system user acceptance. Research is quantitative descriptive using factor analysis and regression analysis methods. The research method uses a questionnaire with a total of 107 valid respondents coming from 8 company names under the XYZ group in 6 Southeast Asian countries. The conclusion of the study is that there are 24 indicators and 4 factors that influence user acceptance of the SAP ERP system. These four factors are the low contribution of the ERP system, the quality of ERP systems and data, the development of ERP systems, and also the low quality of ERP system supporters. It is hoped that by optimizing the value of the 4 factors, the XYZ group can increase user acceptance of the SAP ERP system so that the system can provide benefits expected by the company to be competitive advantage.

Augmented Reality is a technology that allows users to see the real world, with virtual objects placed on it or combined with the real world. Augmented Reality itself can be applied to various things, including as an educational media. In the field of education, technology can be used a culture introduction to society. One part of Indonesian culture is traditional houses. Traditional house is a building that symbolizes the culture of the local community. In North Sumatra itself, there are several traditional houses that have different forms. The use of Vuforia SDK in the construction of this application can display augmented objects in the form of 3-dimentional objects and also provide information on the house. This application will run on the Android mobile platform to make it easier for users to access it. In addition, users can choose their own objects to be used as markers to make the application use much easier. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Efficient video coding techniques applied by modern video encoders - e.g. the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) - enable the handling and sharing of digital videos content. The applied complex data-intensive algorithms, as the Motion Estimation (ME), pose severe constraints in terms of memory communication and energy consumption, especially for battery-powered devices. Thus, an evaluation using efficient memory hierarchies, exploring multiple cache configurations and the use of non-volatile memories (NVMs) as main memory, was performed. Our evaluation considered TZS algorithm, encoding FHD videos, under 32 different cache configurations, combined with three main memory technologies: DRAM, STTRAM, and ReRAM. The best cache configurations were selected in terms of lowest total energy consumption, moreover, different energy savings were achieved using non-volatile memories as main memory, varying from 33.4% to 57.6%, for STTRAM and ReRAM, respectively, with ReRAM presenting the best energy results and reducing the optimal cache size.

Revised JNLPBA corpus: A revised version of biomedical NER corpus for relation extraction task

The advancement of biomedical named entity recognition (BNER) and biomedical relation extraction (BRE) researches promotes the development of text mining in biological domains. As a cornerstone of BRE, robust BNER system is required to identify the mentioned NEs in plain texts for further relation extraction stage. However, the current BNER corpora, which play important roles in these tasks, paid less attention to achieve the criteria for BRE task. In this study, we present Revised JNLPBA corpus, the revision of JNLPBA corpus, to broaden the applicability of a NER corpus from BNER to BRE task. We preserve the original entity types including protein, DNA, RNA, cell line and cell type while all the abstracts in JNLPBA corpus are manually curated by domain experts again basis on the new annotation guideline focusing on the specific NEs instead of general terms. Simultaneously, several imperfection issues in JNLPBA are pointed out and made up in the new corpus. To compare the adaptability of different NER systems in Revised JNLPBA and JNLPBA corpora, the F1-measure was measured in three open sources NER systems including BANNER, Gimli and NERSuite. In the same circumstance, all the systems perform average 10% better in Revised JNLPBA than in JNLPBA. Moreover, the cross-validation test is carried out which we train the NER systems on JNLPBA/Revised JNLPBA corpora and access the performance in both protein-protein interaction extraction (PPIE) and biomedical event extraction (BEE) corpora to confirm that the newly refined Revised JNLPBA is a competent NER corpus in biomedical relation application. This full paper of research to practice category describes an experiment using an Intelligent Tutoring System to support teaching and learning that evolve solutions of first-degree equations. The difficulties encountered in solving algebra problems can make students consider math and related science a difficult task. We propose a Tutor to promote the learning of this class of problems. In this article, we describe the functioning and architecture of the tutor composed by the Interface, Student Model, Tutorial Strategies and Domain Model. Also, a Virtual Assistant was included to motivate students in the learning process. The tutoring strategies that comprise the tutor are projected from models found in the literature. To approximate the interactions of the tutor with the actions of the teachers, Lev Vygotsky's Concept of Zone Proximal Development was used. The methodology used in this project was the case study applied in a real-life context, obtaining a combination of quantitative and qualitative evidence about technical and pedagogical usability that show the degree of satisfaction of the students regarding the proposed approach.

The aim of this work is designing a safe online payment activities scheme using steganography techniques with stegblock concept. These works are implemented at the computers network layers. The stegblock will convert the transactions data which sent among network into other data's form, it means the data such as ID Number, Account Number, Passwords and others are converted with other data called cover. Finally, the system sends the cover without the real data, it just represented data and able to read by the receiver. The result shows that this design provides data security, undetectability, and integrity for payment transactions using networks.

Currently, the discussion about smart city becomes a trend topic in which the development of the Internet of Thing (IoT) is used in various sectors including in the manufacturing sector where the Indonesian government is intensively increasing the capacity and production quality. The use of IoT in both smart manufacture and smart city become an interesting thing topic for research and the combination of the new technology Blockchain, may proof the reliability of data. Trust, transparent, secure, real time online process as a new phenomenon to merge IoT with Blockchain technology into smart manufacturing technology. However, for maintaining quality and sustainability, required technology governance so the achievement of implementation can be done well. This research uses the method called Systematic Literature Review (SLR) find the Blockchain adoption factors for Smart Manufacturing Technology Governance and the research conducted on several reputable publications. The result found, there are 35 adoption success factors found from the adoption of blockchain technology into smart manufacture industry. The influence of the technology governance process in smart manufacture industry increase sustainability, realtime and accurate decision making for the industry. © 2018 IEEE.
