Biomedical knowledge graph reasoning is capable of discovering hidden new knowledge based on existing biomedical data, providing ideas and references for new drug discovery, disease research, and so on. The entire graph topology structure formed by triplets and the attribute descriptions for each entity are crucial information for discovering new knowledge. Some add a variety of additional information to aid reasoning, namely multimodal reasoning. However, current multimodal reasoning techniques often rely solely on vector space distance inferences based on triplets themselves, making it difficult to capture more complex relationships and dependencies between facts. This work integrated triplet entity relations, graph topology structures, and attribute descriptions for each entity to incorporate richer information, and utilized logical rules as external knowledge for relational reasoning in biomedical knowledge graphs. We have evaluated our approach on PharmKG. © 2024 IEEE.

Gastrointestinal diseases are significant health concerns that mostly affect the digestive and biliary tracts. These can only be observed internally through endoscopy, or a modern approach named Wireless Capsule Endoscopy. Though the approach has proven to work, the process relies heavily on medical experts, which is prone to error when given a considerably large load. The use of deep learning in detecting diseases with images has been proven to work in various cases and can be implemented for gastrointestinal diseases. This study compared four deep learning models based on Convolutional Neural Network architectures consisting of the VGG16, ResNet152V2, InceptionV3, and Xception for classifying colon disease images. The experiment showed that the ResNet152V2 performed the best, compared to the other three with a testing accuracy score of 0.9837. On the other hand, the VGG16 had the lowest performance with around accuracy score of 0.89 while the Xception and InceptionV3models yielded similar accuracy scores of 0.9587 and 0.9549, respectively. The results highlight the effectiveness of ResNet152V2 in handling the complexity of colon disease detection © 2024 IEEE.

Despite their drawbacks, multiple-choice questions (MCQ) have been widely used to assess the students' understanding of lectures through examinations. The development of automatic MCQ generation is beneficial, especially for educators. As a starting point for further development, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is conducted to uncover current trends, future challenges, and opportunities in automatic MCQ generation. Previously, an SLR was conducted, but it lacks coverage of the utilization of transformer-based models. This SLR covers the development of automatic MCQ generation using either traditional or advanced approaches such as Transformers. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses framework was used to gather the data from Scopus, IEEE Xplore, SpringerLink, arXiv, and Semantic Scholar. The included articles must be open-access computer science conference papers or journal articles and written in English less than five years ago. Four independent reviewers analyzed the research workflow, evaluation metric, and dataset used in each study. There are 18 included studies, where 17% (n = 3) studies are from 2024, 33% (n = 6) studies are from 2023, 22% (n = 4) studies are from 2022, 11% (n = 2) studies are from 2021, and 17% (n = 3) studies are from 2020. There are 33% (n = 6) of the studies used the traditional feature-based engineering approach, 39% (n = 7) of the studies used the Transformer-based model fine-tuning approach, and the remaining used novel approaches. The study found that BERT variants are the most utilized Transformer-based model in automatic MCQ. The research notes some challenges, but also open various opportunities for further research, including Large Language Model (LLM) utilization for automatic MCQ generation, the utilization BERT-based models for standardized machine-learned evaluation metrics, and the initiative for the creation of an MCQ dataset benchmark. © 2024 IEEE.

In this research, the author addresses the prevalent issues faced by users of cloud services, especially those using Peer-to-Peer (P2P) technology, such as connection losses, security concerns, and poor video quality. The study does not delve into the complex problems at the data center level but instead proposes a novel Design science Research approach. This new method, tested with five clients in varied locations, utilizes port forwarding to establish a direct server-client connection, bypassing traditional P2P frameworks. The results show that this approach significantly improves quality over the P2P system. Feedback from clients before and after the experiment indicates a positive response to this new method. This research offers insights into overcoming P2P-related issues in cloud services and contributes to the development of cloud-based server science, presenting a cost-effective, independent alternative to data center-dependent P2P services, with plans for ongoing research in this area. © 2023 IEEE.

Breast cancer is an occurrence of cancer that attacks breast tissue and is the most common cancer among women worldwide, affecting one in eight women. In this modern world, breast cancer image classification simplifies the process of analyzing, providing objective and accurate results. By leveraging machine learning algorithms and computer vision techniques, we developed breast cancer detection. The dataset is histopathology dataset from BreakHis and UNHAS Hospital. We chose the ConvNeXt-Tiny model then modified the classifier head as the proposed method. Before the dataset is processed by the model, we augment the images by applying random horizontal and vertical flips, adjustments to brightness, contrast, saturation, and hue using color jitter. The augmentation process simulates real-world variance and enhances the model's ability to generalize to unseen data. Our proposed model gained better performance (accuracy, F1-Score) results compared two other techniques to VGG16 and SVM. According to our experiments, the F1-Score for the ConvNeXt-Tiny model with classifier head modification is higher at 0.9516, than the gain for VGG16 at 0.9292, and the gain for the SVM at 0.83. © 2024 IEEE.

In educational institutions, an educator is responsible for assessing the student's knowledge grasp through examination. Creating exam questions, even the low-level factoid questions, is time-consuming, especially for inexperienced educators. Therefore, this study aims to create a sequence-to-sequence model using CopyNet by exploiting its copying mechanism advantage to automatically generate Bahasa Indonesia factoid questions to ease the educator's burden. Indonesian records in the TyDi QA dataset are used as the model input. GRU and Bi-GRU are employed as the CopyNet encoder, while LSTM is used as the CopyNet decoder. The model that utilizes GRU as the encoder achieves BLEU1, BLEU2, BLEU3, BLEU4, and ROUGE-L scores of 0.28, 0.19, 0.14, 0.1, and 0.32, respectively. Bi-GRU utilization as the model encoder achieves BLEU1, BLEU2, BLEU3, BLEU4, and ROUGE-L scores of 0.26, 0.17, 0.12, 0.09, and 0.30, respectively. Models using either encoder still achieve low scores. However, compared with the previous work, the result is still on par regarding the BLEU score. Further examination found that the generated questions do not adhere to semantic and syntactical correctness. Adding more records to the dataset and utilizing a more advanced architecture like CopyBERT are encouraged to improve the model performance in future work. Despite the result, this study has shown that CopyNet, primarily designed for text summarization or single-turn dialogue, can be tailored for factoid question generation. © 2024 The Authors.

In this work, a dynamic weighting-artificial neural network (DW-ANN) methodology is presented for quick and automated compact model (CM) generation. It takes advantage of both TCAD simulations for high accuracy and SPICE simulations for cost-effectiveness. This methodology is developed for gate-all-around (GAA) silicon (Si) nanosheet (NS) complementary field effect transistor (CFET), a potential candidate for future CMOS technology due to its innate properties. The critical process variation (PV) sources that severely degrade the CFET performance are estimated using DW-ANN. It reduces the computation cost and predicts the effects of PV sources with less than 1% error. Furthermore, a compact DW-ANN-based Verilog-A model has been developed that captures the dc as well as transient behavior accurately for circuit-level analysis. CFET-based circuits such as inverter, 6T-static random access memory (SRAM), and ring oscillator (RO) are characterized and implemented using DW-ANN-based CM. The overall average error of the model is reported as less than 2%. Therefore, the proposed device and circuit modeling approach provides a feasible solution for the rapid compact modeling of new emerging devices with good convergence and high accuracy. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Digital tourism village potentially accelerates rural development hence improving a country's economy. The Indonesian government has developed hundreds of tourism villages in recent years but has yet to popularize the development of digital villages. Technology design and development are pivotal factors in tourism villages' digitalization. Therefore, the development digital tourism village must consider village readiness by measuring technology adoption readiness or technology acceptance of the corresponding stakeholders. This paper presents the technology acceptance analysis in the context of a digital tourism village. We use a quantitative analysis approach using the TAM-UTAUT model with data collected from a questionnaire of 101 villagers (n=101) in Pasanggrahan Village, West Java, Indonesia. This research uses machine learning with clustering procedures to analyze the level of technology adoption readiness by implementing K-means Clustering algorithm. In addition, to observe the significance of each influencing factor to the technology adoption readiness level, feature importance analysis approach using Extra tree classifier algorithm is employed. The research finds that attitude toward use, perceived ease of use, and facilitating condition-have a considerable impact on the degree of readiness for technology adoption. On the other hand, the perceived utility and social impact are found to have minimal bearing on the preparedness level for technology adoption. Perceived ease of use and facilitating conditions are the most important factors to afford the acceleration of technology adoption readiness. The research contributes to the development of a digital tourism village and the analysis of technology adoption readiness using machine learning. © 2024 IEEE.

This research focuses on the use of machine learning methods, especially Random Forest, in designing tuberculosis drugs more effectively and efficiently. The research process begins with the creation of a QSAR (Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship) model using a dataset from ChEMBL that includes compounds with activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This model aims to predict the pIC50 value, which is an indicator of a compound's biological activity as a tuberculosis drug. The results of the Random Forest model showed high accuracy, which is 92%. This accuracy indicates that the model has a good ability in predicting the effectiveness of compounds against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. With this result, the developed model can be used as an auxiliary tool in the discovery of tuberculosis drugs and can be further developed to increase the effectiveness in drug research. © 2024 IEEE.

The projected increase in PayLater utilization reaches up to five million people by 2025. To optimize the yearly profit from their PayLater service, fintech companies must examine all possible risks before a unanimous decision is taken. Therefore, we proposed a unified decision framework derived from decision theory and the Monte Carlo simulation technique. Two schemes were coined: (1) a decision-making scheme, and (2) a risk simulation scheme. Throughout experiments, the framework was able to estimate several alternative decisions and their impacts, analyze the causes of failure and delays in the development of the PayLater service, and execute Monte Carlo simulations in up to 10,000 trials. Outputs of this study will benefit decision-makers in the fintech initiative before launching their PayLater products. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.
