Digital transformation is about transforming processes, business models, domains, and culture. Studies show that the failure rate of digital transformation is quite high up to 90%. Studies show that the transformational leadership model has a significant impact on digital transformation adoption. This paper identifies the positive and negative attributes of transformational leadership including the components that support and are affected for successful adoption of digital transformation. Furthermore, the paper combines several findings related to the attributes and components in the form of a conceptual framework. The conceptual framework can serve as a guide for organizations for their digital transformation journey. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

A Comparative Study of DeepLabCut and Other Open-Source Pupillometry Data Analysis Algorithms – Which to Choose?

Pupillometry measures pupil size, and several open-source algorithms are available to analyse pupillometry data. However, only a few studies compared these algorithms’ accuracy and computational resources. This study aims to compare the accuracy of computer vision-based algorithms (Swirski, Starburst, PuRe, ElSe, ExCuSe algorithms) and the machine learning algorithm, DeepLabCut, to the double-blinded human examiners (gold-standard). Training of DeepLabCut with different architectures and a variable number of markers (2-9 markers) was done on an open-source dataset. The duration of training was statistically longer for the ResNet152 model compared to the MobileNet model. The pupil diameters in computer vision-based software such as PuRe, Starburst, and Swirski were statistically different from human measurements. MobileNet 2 and 3 marker models were the closest to the human measurements. In conclusion, this work highlights the efficiency of lower marker models based on MobileNet architecture in DeepLabCut, which consumes fewer computational resources and is more accurate. © 2024 Institute of Information Technology, Warsaw university of Life sciences - SGGW. When making a new microprocessor (MPU), the instruction set architecture is considered. It is also necessary to design how to work the instructions in hardware circuits of the MPU. As a solution to these, we previously proposed a method of expressing the instruction in two ways of semantic expression and functional expression. We also developed a tool that can visualize the instruction. In this paper, we have improved this method by extending a usual MPU to a meta-instruction for any MPU. We have also developed a conversion method for the meta-instruction using a relationship between the semantic and the functional expressions. Then we verified how well our meta-instruction can represent the usual instructions. It is confirmed that most of them can be represented by the meta-instruction. Since our developed tool user can design the meta-instructions from either semantic or functional expression and both expressions can be automatically converted to each other, they can design the instruction of a new MPU and can understand hardware circuits for the MPU instruction by the functional expression. © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper, we first show that current learning-based video codecs, specifically the SSF codec, are not suitable for real-world applications due to the mismatch between the encoder and decoder caused by floating-point round-off errors. To address this issue, we propose the static quantization of the hyper prior decoding path. The quantization parameters are determined through an exhaustive search of all possible combinations of observers and quantization schemes from PyTorch. For the SSF codec, when encoding and decoding on different machines, the proposed solution effectively mitigates the mismatch issue and enhances compression efficiency results by preventing severe image quality degradation. When encoding and decoding are performed on the same machine, it constrains the average BD-rate increase to 9.93% and 9.02% for UVG and HEVC-B sequences, respectively. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

The rise of smart contracts has expanded blockchain's capabilities, enabling the development of innovative decentralized applications (dApps). However, this advancement brings its own challenges, including the management of distributed architectures and immutable data. Addressing these complexities requires a specialized approach to software engineering, with blockchain-oriented practices emerging to support development in this domain. Developer Experience (DEx) is central to this effort, focusing on the usability, productivity, and overall satisfaction of tools and frameworks from the engineers' perspective. Despite its importance, research on Blockchain Developer Experience (BcDEx) remains limited, with no systematic mapping of academic and industry efforts. To bridge this gap, we conducted a Multivocal Literature Review analyzing 62 to understand the distribution of BcDEx sources, practical implementations, and their impact. Our findings revealed that academic focus on BcDEx is limited compared to the coverage in gray literature, which primarily includes blogs (41.8%) and corporate sources (21.8%). Particularly, development efficiency, multi-network support, and usability are the most addressed aspects in tools and frameworks. In addition, we found that BcDEx is being shaped through five key perspectives: complexity abstraction, adoption facilitation, productivity enhancement, developer education, and BcDEx evaluation.

Circular dichroism(CD)spectroscopy has been widely demonstrated for detecting chiral ***,the determination of chiral mixtures with various concentrations and enantiomeric ratios can be a challenging *** solve this problem,we report an enhanced vibrational circular dichroism(VCD)sensing platform based on plasmonic chiral metamaterials,which presents a 6-magnitude signal enhancement with a selectivity of chiral *** by coupled-mode theory,we leverage both in-plane and out-of-plane symmetry-breaking structures for chiral metamaterial design enabled by a two-step lithography process,which increases the near-field coupling strengths and varies the ratio between absorption and radiation loss,resulting in improved chiral light-matter interaction and enhanced molecular VCD ***,we demonstrate the thin-film sensing process of BSA andβ-lactoglobulin proteins,which contain secondary structures a-helix andβ-sheet and achieve a limit of detection down to zeptomole ***,we also,for the first time,explore the potential of enhanced VCD spectroscopy by demonstrating a selective sensing process of chiral mixtures,where the mixing ratio can be successfully differentiated with our proposed chiral *** findings improve the sensing signal of molecules and expand the extractable information,paving the way toward label-free,compact,small-volume chiral molecule detection for stereochemical and clinical diagnosisapplications.

Technology advances in the last century were able to reshape the world we live in. Relationships were physically and virtually changed by innovations going from transportation (engines, airplanes), to communication, (with phones, internet, and satellites). Considering this, the abilities and skills required for the young professionals have been shifting dramatically, and the refractory industry has demanded those that understand this new world and are able to solve its challenging problems. Because of the complexity of materials knowledge, which includes the latest advances in modeling and data science, a sophisticated blend of fundamental concepts and advanced techniques that defies how to promote education effectively was generated. For instance, the heat transfer mechanisms within the refractory material can be both discussed on the fundamental level or on how to perform advanced simulations to describe it, granting the engineer the ability to solve real-life problems. The present work aims to classify this new set of needed tools, explore options to conciliate fundamentals with advanced tools and conjecture strategies to educate the present and future professionals. As a conclusion, the minimum package of skills is presented considering the association of industry, academics, students and computing, all synergistically working together to solve the new challenges and promote true innovation. © 2022 Unified International Technical Conference on Refractories, UNITECR 2022 - Proceedings. The Smart Power Grid (SPG) is pivotal in orchestrating and managing demand response in contemporary smart cities, leveraging the prowess of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Within the immersive SPG environment, the ubiquitous deployment of smart meters stands as a testament to their paramount importance in the realm of vigilant monitoring and oversight. These smart meters are installed on high-tension electricity lines and transmit information about electricity outages and other issues to the utility center. To access services from utility centers, smart meters need to communicate securely over a public channel, even though the network itself is insecure. However, potential attacks from adversaries ( Ad) can exploit this communication. Therefore, protecting this communication is of utmost importance. Several privacy-preserving authentication protocols designed for SPG have been introduced in the literature. Nevertheless, a significant number of these protocols exhibit vulnerabilities to diverse security attacks. This article introduces a lightweight and anonymous authentication protocol specifically designed to address these concerns in the SPG environment. Our protocol ensures both security and efficiency, surpassing other comparable protocols in terms of its lightweight nature. By employing both formal and informal analysis, we showcase the robustness of our protocol against significant attacks while remaining lightweight. The proposed protocol provides added security features and incurs 23.8879% lower computation cost than related protocols. Consequently, our protocol is highly suitable for implementation in the SPG system. © 2020 IEEE.

This paper proposes a reconfiguration for a single-phase, double conversion uninterruptible power supply (UPS). With the addition of two static switches to the original circuit, the UPS mitigates the ripple in the current, through battery discharge performed by two legs. Other than these switches, the circuit topology is preserved. The preliminary results show a satisfactory level of ripples for the inductor current and suitable power quality for the output voltage. © 2023 IEEE.
